I'd rather have spectator mode tomorrow, for free, than Shadow Mode ever.

i got lucky on a few occasions. should have died but the dude dropped his combos. lol
I don't know but he fits in well in my Spider Man/Zero/Amaterasu team that I have been messing around with.shaowebb said:Sweet. I can get some DLC tomorrow!
Also I heard some mention of Spiderman a second ago. Has anyone made any teams that really found a way to make him irreplaceable yet? I keep finding anything he can do pulled off better by other cast.
I know he's got some great low combos and he can stay away pretty well to set up for web ball->Maximum Spider DHC stuff but I just get better DHC setups with other cast and for low combos I've been rolling She-hulk like a boss for a week and finding no one on her level for comparison.
I'm seriously curious if there is something that only Spiderman has that a team can be worked around.
Riposte said:I really curious how one makes a "shadow" AI.
The costumes are fantastic and each of them is awesome(maybe except Thor, but a classic throwback is always appreciated. I almost typed thorwback...). Personally already like them more than 90% of what we got in (S)SFIV. I'll probably wait for a deal to get them though.

Moofers said:So much damn complaining here. I mean, doesn't anyone just play to enjoy themselves anymore? My only grip is that I'm annoyed because I picked my team of Dante, Akuma, Sentinel before the game was even out, based on my MvC2 experience and my like for those characters. ("Undermine target's confidence!") I don't care if they are considered "cheap", dammit, they are still my team and I have fun playing them. Some of you need to get over your hangups and just let it be fun for you too.
the_painted_bird said:Did it say "#2" on his Player ID or something? Who was he maining
Kaijima said:Yeah, as I was saying a while back, the only real problem I see with the game is that scrub-to-mid-tier play is dominated by a bunch of extreme easymode tactics. Even so, I feel the jury is still out on that. The more I see, the more I play, I start to wonder if the positive aspects of the game at higher levels all but require it be open to abuse at lower levels. (i.e. you can't have everything in a single design).
2&2 said:That why I think, a reasonable health deduction would address the problem. He'd still be a beast, but still retain every other advantage, and still really good, just a more even playing field. I still feel all other things being equal, he's too powerful and skews the game too much, regardless of level. Vanilla Sagat was never winning tournaments and was beatable, but was still overpowered and made too many characters irrelevant from the get go. Same thing here. They could easily slip it into a DLC update, and bam, issue solved. Hardly an extreme nerf. A health reduction is easy to correct if they go to far, too.
Mit- said:I just feel like MODOK can't keep up with the most of the more mobile characters in the game. Especially when characters can teleport or super jump over all of his setups (the shield, floating bombs, the slime on the ground, etc). As soon as you're behind him he has to start all over, and he seemingly has trouble getting good rushdown out once it gets in. Oh, and IIRC his health is fairly low, too.
I guess concentrating on learning some really good combos in addition to great keepaway will be key for him.
Dahbomb said:I don't know but he fits in well in my Spider Man/Zero/Amaterasu team that I have been messing around with.
His doing regular combos, then doing a Web Throw into a Maximum Spider does respectable damage. Then you can DHC into Zero's hyper. Or you can do Zero's hyper into Spider Man's Maximum Spider.
Spider Man's greatest strength to me is his Ultimate Web Throw hyper which is unblockable in the air. His ability to limit air mobility of the opponent is something to consider. His greatest weakness IMO is a poor selection of assists, none of his assists are all that.
Dahbomb said:Better to use the Web Throw into Maximum Spider. A regular combo into Web Throw does respectable damage as the Web Throw does unscaled damage and combos into Max Spider easily.
You can also call assists while using Web Swing to deal with push blockers. Spider Man can stay in the air for a reasonable amount of time and he can effectively runaway or stick to the opponent like glue.
Call an assist that pins an opponent down (like Amy's Cold Shot) and Web Zip/Web Swing in. Remember that you can hit while doing these to cancel them and keep the pressure going. Spider Man also makes the opponent wary at all times as he can generally punish from full screen and it makes them careful to jump as well as Ultimate Web Throw does serious damage and cannot be dodged out of.
Whenever I kill off a character, I like to call in Zero's anti-air assist and use Spider Man's Ultimate Web Throw when the new character is coming in.
Web Ball is sort of sucky IMO but it helps with his zoning a bit. I like to keep throwing out one of these diagonally down and keep swinging around crossing them up hoping to land that Web Ball. Spidey can stay in the air A LONG TIME.
Karsticles said:Nice! I'm at 80% completion. It took me 20 minutes to get Amaterasu's first weapon change mission done. It's not even hard to do, so I know her mission 10 will make me sad.
Doesn't that mess up training mode? When I was doing Sentinel's mission 10, I failed it twice for X-Factoring before HSF hit, and not after. I figured the system is pretty picky from that.
It depends on the player, but I can understand that. Hulk scares me too, haha. I'm scared of bad Phoenix players even though, because she can protect her own advances and cross-up. Very frustrating to deal with.Karsticles -- In the hands of average players, I'm more afraid of Sent/Hulk than I am of Dark Phoenix. Usually I can body most of the other players team and get Dark Phoenix out quick while I still have so players left and Xfactor. I bodied one the other day who was XFC3 dark phoenix cause he was just using her like people are using Sentinel...
How does this differ from Hulk?my only problem will Sentinel is that he has too many armor moves
I makes it risky(specially for some characters) to be anywhere on the screen against him, offense or defense.
Capcom probably should have said it earlier instead of "pricing is not yet determined".Retroactive LMFAO at the whiners who kept insisting that Shadow Mode was paid. They even took the trouble to bold the fact that it is FREE
Oh, they will be, because it's not Spectator Mode. You tell 'em. I'm sure they will be so upset that they're getting something for free.
Just wait until you finally do it. The next one is basically the same combo, but instead of switching to the glaive, you switch to the beads. Your muscle memory will be so programmed to swap to the glaive that you'll keep doing it instead of the beads. >.<(1) I can't do Amaterasu's first weapon change combo. It's pissing me off.

SolarPowered said:Haven't played any games today, but I'm looking forward to putting some work in. Some people have mentioned Hsien-Ko and I agree on some points. I hate getting matched up against Akuma and Wolverine, but I'd be lying if I said that I don't enjoy pushing them back with medium and heavy attacks when they jump forward. It's especially funny against Dante. Her Heavy attack also has enough reach to hit big boys like Sentinel when it is used as an assist.
It is tough to use her sometimes. Her low health is a serious drawback. Some more experimentation with gongs may make up for that though.
I don't like this.
I don't think we'll get it before the FY is over and Capcom starts to think less about how to pump up their yearly earnings and more about how to keep the community going. So probably April or May.MThanded said:I highly doubt this is true. I am pretty sure we will get spectator mode in this iteration. It may be later rather than sooner but I am keeping hope alive.

Killa Sasa said:Spider-Man is awesome, and once he's figured out, he will be even deadlier.
I took this setup from the SRK Spider-Man board.
In the corner, if he touches you once, he can confirm into a +1mil combo as long as he has an OTG assist. Only way to get out of it so far that I've seen is to have an invincible air super ala Sent or Morrigan.
Corner combo to hard knockdown, OTG, cancel L Web Ball to UWT, for about 800k. He can OTG again out of UWT since the reset starts the assist counter over and go into another combo or to keep it simple, right into Maximum Spider.
800k off one bar is pretty slick anyway.
Need to try this in every situation, but it even caught forward techs and double jumps when I tried it.
He gets in on zoners for pretty free atm, and is even better once he has an assist to cover his movement (I use Unibeam).
Pete is sick, and I'm sure he/other characters have some more juice to be found.
And Dahbomb was just talking about Spiderman/Zero synergy.MThanded said:Winter Brawl money matches posted by Seb

Kaijima said:So Shadow Mode is free. Here's a question; if spectator mode is actually patched into the base game after all, who will come forth and say "okay, I was too cynical, Capcom cares a bit about their players"?
Or will people shift the focus of bitching over to the next costume packs, etc.
If updates are ever patched into the game because of fan backlash they don't get any credit just for paying attention. We should expect better of them in ways that are sensible. I'm aware that people these days expect massive graphical showcases, but I'm talking about the mundane things.Kaijima said:So Shadow Mode is free. I had no idea we could rank down until yesterday when I saw my bar falling back a bit after a few losses.Zomba13 said:Is the match making going to be altered at any point? I hope you're right about Rearmed Spencer. Rearmed 2 or Classic Spencer are fine too, but I'd prefer the Shinkiro/GRIN one.Toxicplatypus said:Hmmmm udon tasky, and rearmed spencer are pretty much guaranteed...
In Ranked Match, surpass the "1st" class rank, or fight someone who has.
To reach 1st class you need 56,000 Rank Points. You can check the leaderboards to see what your current standing is. You can also unlock this by fighting someone who has already attained this rank.

I beat someone that have that achievement and I beat him by time out. I haven't got the achievement.

This is something me and my friends were talking about a few days ago. It'd be stupid if we got no alt colors for the alt costumes. That should take little work and it'd be snazzy. The lack of alt colors there would probably kill any chance of a purchase for me.robut said:Saw the ton of screens for the dlc outfits on the facebook page but no colors for them other than what were originally presented.
