Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

Have been playing Darkstalkers.

Jedah is pretty whack. Outside the limb thing, he's not very interesting. Now BB Hood, that's a good character.
Everyone has different interests. I find most characters boring. So long as a lot of people are happy, I like seeing a character in.

If we get three Darkstalkers characters again then I hope it will be Morrigan, Jedah and B. B. Hood. They would be a great set.

To me, the characters that make most sense to include in these VS games are characters that can pass off as heroes/villains to stand next to Marvel characters and not look out of place.

Most of the Darkstalker characters have the edge in that they look like villains/super heroes but also come feature ready as fighting game characters. They are easy inclusions hence why they end up getting high number of reps despite low number of games sold per series.

That's why something like DMC ends up getting a bunch of series rep. Not only is it a top 5 series for Capcom but all the characters in it are super hero/villains. They got super abilities up the wazoo. It also helps DMC because they come moveset ready as DMC at times is modeled after fighting games in terms of some mechanics.

Of course there are exceptions especially with characters that have their own franchises and have to be included despite not meeting this criteria (like Phoenix Wright). But that's why we can't have both Chris and Leon/Ada/Barry in the game because they are just too... normal for the game. Regina unfortunately has a similar issue but at least she represents a whole series.

You can force a fighting game moveset on any character you want, that's rarely an issue. It's having characters in that make sense and create a balanced roster in terms of archetype and series representation.

I bummed myself out earlier with the realization of how much I would love older Molly Hayes to be a character here, but even if mutants weren't taboo for the game, she would still pretty much have no chance at ever being on the roster.

I mean, I'd just be fine with Lilith being part of Darkness Illusion like in TvC. That is, if they bothered changing it since Morrigan's trailer.

But I doubt that, so make her playable. I want to turn people into human arrows.

Yeah, after seeing GotG2, I kind of want Yondu to get in, even if he's only got one real "power" but hey, they could probably make it work.

They don't need to keep adding assists to characters lol.

Tag system is like a reverse assist. Your point character is the assist which is supporting the character in reserve. Once you rewire your brain to understand that, then you realize that the sky becomes the limit with the system.

Iron Man does Unibeam, tags to Strider on start up, Strider does teleport command on entering for a mix up/free get in.

Chun Li does SBK to get in (horizontal) and tags on start up, SBK locks them down while getting on the opponent and your tag in characters gets a mix up/pressure.

Chris does Magnum and tags an opponent, tag into Hawkeye, does Dead Arrow into full combo (will work with every combo for big damage, probably why they are making Magnum a resource as it gives Chris a potential death combo from full screen).

This also works for aerial moves now so now you can use aerial moves as assists. Iron Man does Smart Bombs from super jump height and tags into partner, if Smart Bombs hit then you get a free combo.

Every Hyper is a threat now because say you do random Hyper Charging Star with Captain America, tag into a full combo on hit.

There will be no lack of degenerate stuff in this game. Every character will be a threat anywhere on the screen. Just about anything can be turned into a combo especially with a universal OTG system.

Can't wait until the pros get their hands on this, I already know all the Marvel heads be like...

Honestly from an early impression, this game seems much more interesting to me than umvc3 and a big part of that is the OTG system. I really hate how otgs work in 3, and I'm glad they're kinda bringing it back to the older games. Not only is it more visually appealing by being snapper, and fluid but it also allows individual characters to have longer strings, more variance and different reset opportunities. I feel like this game is going to be more reset heavy, and that excites me most.

TAC were a trash mechanic and the Tag system in this game looks to fix a lot of that while adding in a ton of depth. I've never been big on assists, so it's kinda whatever that they're gone tho this is seemingly somewhat mitigated by the tag options.

Gem abilities seem dope, Hulk with a teledash is seemingly more fun than him sitting on drone assist and I'll take a mix-up cube any day over whack factor comebacks.

Yeah, you totally say everything what I'm thinking in my mind. I think I might have a lot of fun with this game but I would rather to wait until we see the finalized product because they could change anything at the end. At long, I know it wouldn't be a huge change in the product like they did with Brawl (E3 Demo) and final version of Brawl.

It's only 4 months from the release date, I don't think they would change it that much. Maybe only if feedback from the builds is somewhat harsh.

I really like that they decided to go back to the MVC2 layout but I'm a little afraid in the casual approach, I just hope that the easy input and combos are optional.

They certainly can't make a lot of changes between the time the game goes gold and release. They can't ship a disc that has a drastically different build than the day 1 patch, because that would cause a lot of problems. Going gold is generally around a month before release. They don't have very long.

Actually, hard to believe the game is that close to completion. Especially considering how little we know about it.

That means the next few months are gonna be insane. How much longer till E3? I need my fix man

Yeah, it should be completed before, given the time they need to do the copies.
I was hoping for some changes in the presentation, it feels somewhat bland IMO...

It's almost a month away, it can't come sooner lol.

Nice avatar, here's hoping that C.C. returns.

or maybe it'll be a low content game that expands over time through DLC

Low content in what way, though? Single player content? Characters? Both?

I find it hard to believe that they'd push out another empty game after what happened with SFV. That's really, really, really asking for trouble.

I'm not sure if I expect them to be in, but I wonder how they'd adapt Ammy and V Joe to the Infinite visual style. Realistic looking Joe sounds horrifying.
This game doesn't look "realistic" to me -- returning characters look practically identical to their MvC3 versions but with more detailed costumes and the comic book shader removed. Joe wouldn't look any more out of place than X.

I mean it's not gritty realism, but it's definitely more live-action than comic-book compared to 3.

Yeah, but the Capcom characters still have anime eyes, Thor is still comically bulky, and so on. None of the characters have undergone fundamental design changes to accommodate the new look (some have just been given new costumes to reflect their current appearances). I'm personally not worried about certain characters being left out for aesthetic reasons.

It's not realistic, but definitely more realistic than MvC3 and part of that is just the contrast, subdued colours, and lack of outlines (or similar distinguishing visual effects) applied to the characters to make them stand out from the stage.

Also matters a lot less in motion (as do many of the blemishes the models have).

I hope Groot isnt only visual assist to Rocket but he has attacks too.

because groot has some unique moveset that would be wasted that way.

Yeah, but Marvel is heavily involved this time around. They also seem to care about how their licensed products are received by the audience. I doubt they'll allow Capcom to just release a half-assed game.

I'm with you and this and baffled why people are thinking this way. Guys this game has a racoon and tree fighters. How some think this game is more going realistic is anybodies guess. :/

Wolverine has a good chance but we aren't likely to see him join the roster before 2018. While I am a huge fan of Gambit I think there are a ton of Xmen characters we will see before him. I'm not holding my breath

as long as Storm gets in i'm good...psylocke, rogue, juggernaut or omega red would be a wonderful bonus.( i love my mutants)

extremely long shot ...put Photon in this game CAPCOM. PLEASE.
