Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

I really doubt the MH character is anything other than just a hunter.

On that subject, that's a play style/move list thats really interesting to think about. There are a ton of different weapon styles and move sets they could pull from, not to mention different monsters maybe showing up themselves. Rathalos fireballs, Diablos charges, Deviljho fucking shit up. Lots of possibilities for moves and supers.

I feel Monster Hunter would have felt more at home in MvC3, doesn't feel like he will fit in this.

Seems like there are 3 types of people on this board now.

1. People who are content with the roster because their mains are still there and/or (for some reason) don't mind the characters.

2. People with lost hype that still believe the list is incomplete and/or believe a bait and switch is coming. (I think I fit here)

3. People with lost hype that believe the leak roster, but hoping that some e3 gameplay will spark back their hype for the game.

Assuming its a regular Hunter, I'd kind of hope that the Monster Hunter could switch styles from his active weapon stance to a non-active weapon stance. Like their default stance would be with the great sword, but then they could put the sword away, and have more of a light heated moveset that uses the pick axe, bombs, traps, and other things like that. I guess that's not all too likely, but it would be more faithful than them switching between weapons.

I think it depends on just how the Hunter plays out, and what moveset(s) they focus on. That's part of the reason I'm so interested in seeing how they play out, even though I'm prepared for some type of disappointment.

I like the way you think.

It'd also be the only way to weave in "weapon sharpening" into the moveset, since you'd have to put the weapon away to use a whetstone and get back the max damage on your attacks.

If they do something like this, then X and Hunter would be my Day 1 "Hunter X Hunter" team.

IIRC Capcom has never had more than $6/character (Only SFV?) and most of the time has had the cheapest DLC characters. I think SFxTK had the most characters per buck value of anything thus far.

EDIT: FWIW I asked the Twitter leaker for clarification on the inconsistencies between their leak and Riku'a and they said that its just Wolvie, Doom, and Deadpool in the base. Cyke is unknown if base or DLC. Also Nina is in, allegedly.

I didn't realize that, but good. I think the lower they can get them the better off they'll be.

4. People who lost hype because the game in general hasn't looked like a step up from UMVC3 yet.

Roster is a bit disappointing but i'm sure it'll get much better with DLC. I just want some in-depth and concrete info about gameplay. The game's 3 months away and a lot of things still seem to be up in the air. That makes kinda me worried

For me, I think what keeps me hype is the tagging system. To be able to tag at any time is dope af. Sorry guys, if you happen to play me. I WILL be that guy who finishes you off with a hyper, but tags in the start of it to teabag the whole time with my partner before its game over.

I'm like a mix of 2 and 3.

My hype has taken a significant hit, which sucks because I was super excited. Kinda hoping there's more than what's on the list, but it's pretty unlikely. Having said that, I'm actually expecting the gameplay to be fun, and there's quite a few characters (Ant-Man, Thanos, Jedah, and X) that I am really interested in.

I was pretty salty the other day, but have pretty much gotten over it. Like Saikyo said, best to get the disappointment out of the way now rather than later.

I'm somewhere between 1 and 2. I'm not a fan of the roster and I hope we got baited, but in the case we don't I'll live with it and play the game anyway.

Songbird is one of my top ten favorite Marvel characters. I want her in eventually.

Yeah, Songbird is a favorite of mine too. I realize she's a long shot but I'd be really happy to see her make it in as DLC.

It will be a massive dissapointment to not see the xmen characters on marvel vs capcom infinite

They are truly the world warriors/champion edition roster of the series. You have to include as much of them as possible in the game

Honestly the only Xmen characters I feel really need to be included are Magneto, Storm and Wolverine. Really feels odd not having them, especially Magneto.

I can't imagine Jedah will have most of his moves that actually make him interesting (and I highly doubt he'll have his Sangue Passare).

Since no one really cares about Nemesis, they should just rework him to be Sentinel in a Nemesis skin.

Tentacle drones lets go.

EDIT: Oh shit I forgot there's no more assists.

Why are we assuming that no one likes Nemesis? I was honestly under the impression he's one if the more iconic characters in that series.

Let's be fair, nobody expected the roster to go this far south.

Yeah, I wouldn't have imagined it would end up this bad. Aside from a few notable exceptions even most of the characters I'm happy to see back are hard to justify as good choices

I am disappointed about the roster, but I like what I've seen from the gameplay and I am really excited to see how Monster Hunter plays like.

Most likely not getting it on release though.

I wish I was optimistic enough to be a 2, but I just don't think it's possible.

I'm mostly a 3, but if one of the characters in the first DLC pack ends up being Asura or Gene, then I officially can't complain any more.

I was almost sure that one of those two could have been in the base roster (I guess I was completely wrong lol)

Capcom must have left them out on purpose just to do DLC, seeing that both are requested frequently. Thinking more about the characters, I'm more dissapointed on the Capcom side, even if Daredevil is nowhere to be seen

I'm probably a 3. I was so hyped that we were even getting another MvC game. Then the game play trailer hit and I wasn't so sure about it. The new mechanics look good, but the game looks bleak. I'm sure the visuals will be tightened up before release though. Then the roster leak had no significant new characters. While I'm happy to see my main Thor get some new moves, I was hoping for a better base roster. I'll probably hold out until the first wave of DLC comes out.

I've thought the same thing, but my fear is that Gene will not sell as DLC, and is therefore less likely to make it. Asura, on the other hand, I'm sure people will pay for.

Wouldn't be the first time Asura's Wrath had to deal with DLC BS.

That could be true but maybe if Capcom does a good moveset for Gene taking God Hand's as a base for it, it would end up being great.

I mean the roster can only go up with further DLC so I'm content with the roster now. I know I will have fun playing the game despite a lot of changes from the last game I don't care for such as 2v2 and no assists. My main concern is that I hope DLC comes out at a much faster rate than Street Fighter V.

There's such a negative aura around this game everywhere I go online now.

The last time it was this strong was a little after SFV's release.

Before that, it was after SFXT was released.

Seems like the last time there was positivity towards Capcom fighting games was SF4/MVC3 era. Everything after just hasn't been able to catch on. Capcom has their work cut out for them big-time...especially with this roster.

I think that i's because of the base roster, the total number of characters and the picks for it are somewhat boring IMO.

Playing as ant man is going to be as exciting as that shitty antman movie. This roster is just so terrible. Even Capcoms side is total shit and the MCU had nothing to do with it

I'm mad that the MCU isn't even repped properly.

But yeah, the Capcom side is the biggest offender there. Reading the interviews from a month ago annoys me.

Honestly the roster sent me from buying Deluxe edition day 1 to not buying at all. Capcom can win me back if X and the Hunter both have great movesets(the Hunter especially needs to have a Dante level moveset) and if the story is both long and high quality

What the hell?
I feel like I'm in the twilight zone or something. No exciting roster, no xmen, no ff characters...
Visually not unbearable. The only thing I can look forward to is mechanics. That's just sad.
I guess the hype train derailed right after leaving the station?
