Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

If we take the other leak seriously, then this tweet makes a good case for the six DLC characters being on-disc DLC. Fortunately, they can't get away with that, since they're having a PC release.

Idk dude the power stone as some nasty extensions.https://youtu.be/1sbQcr-_Ws0

I wonder if any of this games characters will have a forced wall bounce because that would go great with this stone. Also the power stone had a deceptively large hitbox especially in the air
Unless the power stone has invincibility or armor (which I was unable to find in the demo) then it's still not a significant advantage in the neutral unlike the other stones. Even when you have surge active, power stone isn't really a factor until you land a hit.

It's going to be cool for combos though.

Best case scenario on disc DLC means PC users can mod in DLC characters for free baybee

Yeah I know there's no way that'll happen

The leak appears to be the story mode models.

SFV's story mode had the same thing w/ a partially-finished Juri/Urien and it was fine.

Hm, since you can cash in your remaining Infinity Meter for a Level 3 Hyper during an Infinity Storm, is there a reason to not do that if you're doing a combo and time is running out? It's basically free, isn't it?

Also, from what we've seen, I think I want to try Captain America and X as a team. Cap's counter that you can Active Switch on (that's dirty) combined with X's apparent pressure tools could make that amusing. No idea what Infinity Stone they'd want, though. And since I'm not that good at fighting game inputs, Time Stone is probably out. Unless there's a braindead X-Buster, dash forward to X-buster, dash forward to X-Buster, dash forward... custom combo for X.

I do think not including any kind of versus or even a normal AI fight in the demo is dumb. It's so hard to actually test anything when you instantly kill the drones.

Pretty sure that's the point. Considering there's still 3 months to release a lot of people would be bored of the game before it came out if we had an unadulterated VS mode.

I'd be surprised if we didn't get a very limited online Beta closer to release though

I guess not, but that makes the Infinity Meter a lot more powerful than I anticipated, since you're likely to get some sort of combo off of an Infinity Storm. I have a feeling this will get cut before launch, it's too powerful. At best, IMO, the character should get a free Level 1 hyper.

That explains the game's aesthetic- they're literally selling action figures, so of course everyone in-game looks like one.
You think they chose the aesthetic for multimillion dollar game to also work for tie-in figures for that game that they'll sell a few for? Why wasn't UMvC3 styled after Minimates then?

They don't look like action figures in the game anyways. It's just realism (relatively) because that's what Marvel wants and gives it a higher fidelity "next gen" look.

It should have been a MP beta, but that's not their focus. Again, online MP should be the real concern of skeptics here.

Combofiend talking about accessibility. LOL!! 3v3 isn't that fucking complicated.

If i recall correctly, they never said 3v3 was complicated, they specifically said going to 2vs2 + stone was because team composition in UMVC3 boiled down to "2 characters you kind of like or know how to use and one character you don't care for but has an assist you want", so their reasoning was eliminating the "assist" character you don't care for by turning him into the stone slot.

Anyways!

MVCI GAF, i have a question.

I went to my local store (Game Planet in mexico) to ask about what versions of the game they were gonna carry and the guy at the store mentioned something curious, he said system was showing him the Deluxe edition as having 1 of the 4 figurines included, but he was as baffled as me when he saw it on his PC.

We're 99% sure it must be an error in their data base, but in the 1% chance it is true, has anybody heard about any store carrying this "Deluxe edition + 1 Figurine"?

Yeah, I just realized something else that makes that feature doubtful to survive. You can cancel blockstun with an Infinity Surge. And if you can cancel an Infinity Surge into a Level 3...

Well, don't get your attacks blocked, especially slow ones because LB+RB, LB+RB means you eat an instant Level 3.

I don't know man Captain America definitely looks like an action figure.

...designed by Rob Liefeld

Also, how is having to learn three characters to even play the game not complicated? IMO the 3v3 system is one of the most complicated in fighting games. Working effectively with your assists is not easy to learn, either. I really wish they'd just gone the Skullgirls route of letting you pick the size of your team, though.

At this rate, it'll be a blind box.

And it'll just be
Chun-li's head.

Something to note that I experimented with. Canceling power infinity storm into a level 3 doesn't let you keep the power buff during the level 3

I hope the roster gets bigger, and I would hate if no X-Men or FF character got put in.

Buddy, I'm really sorry to be the one to tell you this, but you're not getting X-Men or FF thanks to Marvel's beef with Fox.

You surely must realize that Wolverine and Deadpool would be in the base roster otherwise, right?

So this is my list of *possible* DLC characters I want in Season 2, if there is a Season 2.

Ms. Marvel - She would be such a great addition with her stretchy moves, a type of character notably missing.

Squirrel Girl - Just seems like a really fun and goofy moveset.

Black Widow - first of all, how you gonna leave the the only female on the original Avengers MCU team off? Hinestly, they could just give her MvC3 Jill's moveset and that would work well.

Scarlett Witch - Another missing female Avenger with a potentially interesting movest due to her manipulation and illusion abilities.

Vision - Mighy as well finish off the team.

She Hulk - gimme dat She Hulk beast mode

X-Men are going to be DLC
They are $$$ for Capcom/Marvel.

Here's my predicted Season 2 Pass
1.Phoenix Wright
2.Viewtiful Joe/Amaterasu
3.Wesker/Vergil
4.Wolverine
5. Deadpool
6. Magneto/Storm

I am going to be fucking livid if Phoenix Wright isn't in season 2

Can someone catch me up with what season one is?

Sigma
Black Panther
?
?
?
?

In theory, its all "new characters", but new to what is the question. New compared to 3? New to the series as a whole?

Is anyone else skeptical of that old report claiming that this is being developed 100% internally? The core design team is most likely made up of Capcom employees (like MvC3), but the art assets and new animations have such an Eighting feel to them, and Capcom isn't exactly bustling with in-house staff these days (they only have three or four internal teams). I'm not saying this is a bad thing, mind you -- I love TvC and MvC3 -- it's just an observation.

Oh they definitely embellished. There's outsourcing written all over this.

That crumpling counter is amazing. What is the purpose of the new shield trick moves? Theyre really weird. One looks like his L shield throw from 3 but doesn't OTG
My guess are anti-zone moves for closing in. H versions goes in a smooth arc and can hit the opponent from behind. Both do a hard knock down.

I think there's mixup potential but that's beyond me in moveset analysis.

we still shitting on the game both for legit but also non-legit reasons, or can a cat safely say "hey, the game actually looks pretty nice in those off-screen videos, whats up with that?" without being hit with a brick?

I should try that demo I guess lol.

The art/visuals/UI definitely seems hella outsourced.

As always people got suckered in by PR lip service.

If nothing in this game is outsourced then... Maybe they should consider outsourcing haha. The gameplay looks fun as fuck but I'd never know it from the demo. I wish we got an actual versus mode ala SFV Beta instead of this story mode bullshit :(.

Technically they could've had stuff like the models and such outsourced and the game itself made internally at capcom. Which would explain the disparity from gameplay and visuals.

They "technically" wouldn't be lying about saying it's being developed internally with that.

Why haven't you tried the demo? I might be hella critical on the game. But I'm giving it every chance to impress me and leaving no stone unturned.

Well besides Dimps working on SFV, I remember it was found out Capcom outsourced models there too. I'm just assuming this time there was less quality control (and more rushing to get shit done). Like I recall when someone talked about making a model for capcom, capcom had specific details of what they want (and maybe Capcom animated the model in house, and now they outsourced animating?)

Pretty sure we're out of the hate phase. Demo is really fun go try it
