Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

How about this guy in MVCI?

Black Knight

What could be a part of his moveset? Well, he's got a cursed sword, a shield, and a flying horse

possible counterparts/rivalries
-Arthur: Knight vs Knight
-Bishamon: Bishamon and the Ebony Blade both crave blood and destruction (due to being used to commit countless atrocities), though Dane has been better at quelling these urges than Bishamon.
several Devil May Cry characters

Black Knight would be pretty cool. I really like the character, though he may just be another sword fighter running into Taskmaster's territory a bit--unless they can implement his horse into his moveset, though it's likely to be used in his supers instead.

After watching that UltraChen wishlist segment, I now cannot stop thinking about how stupid yet kinda fun J. Jonah Jameson could be. I don't want him, but now I can't stop thinking about it.

he could summon Spider-slayers (and there are a bunch of them), BE a Spider-slayer (he did that quite a bit in the old comics), throw newspapers at people, his level 3 is turning the citizens of New York against you...or hiring/creating someone to take you out :P

those Infinite trailers do look off now that Ive seen them a few times. Like many have said, its probably a lighting thing or something, it looks washed out or too bright, like when you have your brightness in your monitor set too high.

I like how people want some super obscure characters just to make rivalries work. I really hope no one in charge of the actual roster thinks this way :p

As for cool rivalries that we'll never see:
  • Akira vs. Ghost Rider
  • Date Masamune vs. Wolverine
  • Godot vs. Daredevil
  • Dhalsim vs. Ms. Marvel
  • Spencer vs. Winter Soldier
  • Rashid vs. Storm

I'm hoping Howard the duck doesn't get in. Completely stupid character and a total waste of a slot given how many other potential choices there could be.

Also the whole petition for Scrooge Mcduck is equally moronic.

I like Howard the Duck, but he's a poor fit for MvC. He's not very much the fighting type, and though he has Quack-Fu, do we really need another martial artist in this series?

Hell, he doesn't even use Quack-Fu that often.

I've actually wanted a Spider-Slayer mk 1 piloted by JJ as a gag character for a while, but it's one of those things that probably would never happen

And while it was only for a bit, he was the mayor of NYC, so he and Hagger could have a rivalry there.

"Do we really need another [insert archetype here] in the series?" All the bases are mostly covered, so why bother adding anybody? Do we really need X, another robot from the MMX series with a buster arm? Do we really need Captain Marvel, another energy-projecting flight-based cosmic Marvel hero? "Martial artist" is a really vague term. Ryu and Chun-Li and Iron Fist all play completely differently from each other, so why wouldn't Howard the Duck?

Fun fact, they almost put his sword into Dr. Strange as a background prop.

Really, my issue with Howard the Duck being playable is less him using martial arts and more the fact that he's not very likely to ever engage in fisticuffs. Hell, the issue in which he learned Quack-Fu opened with him ranting about the glorification of violence by kung-fu movies.

He's fought before, though, and it's not like a lack of combat prowess has kept characters out of the series. Phoenix Wright and Shuma-Gorath (among others) aren't known for being fighters. What's more important is the visual variety and quirkiness that someone like Howard would bring to the game. I don't want all of the Marvel newcomers to be regular humans, and Howard is probably the most well-known non-humanoid character who hasn't appeared yet.

Well, if they really want to add Howard the Duck, then they would find a way to make him work in the game. Take a look at Phoenix Wright in UMVC3 and few characters in Smash Bros since you know they weren't fighters in their own original franchises.

I meant, you're a Smash fan, and have you learn anything from the community? ;P

Very disappointed that moriggan's boobs shrunk in infinite.

I was just comparing myself, they look a little too big and spherical in 3 (let me guess you're one of those "Boobs can NEVER be TOO big!" types), almost like they're implants while they look a lot more natural in what we see in Infinite so far. Not to mention it sounds like her voice actress is way more comfortable with the role now. It always irked me a little bit that in 3 that little chuckle she does when finishing her Astral Vision sounded kinda stiff and fake, while what we hear in Infinite sounds much better.

About Howard, I was about to say, Capcom's definitely done "non fighter" characters before just fine, they could make Howard work easily.

If they can make Howard work while still being true to the character, which I'm not sure how they could do, I'd be down for him.

Contest of Champions made him a Tron-esque mech pilot. I'd prefer a more Phoenix Wright-esque Howard though, with him complaining the whole battle about how he always gets involved in this bullcrap.

I didn't realize Gwen and Miles both had they're own logos different from Peter which works because Marvel seems be pushing them a lot.
Those 2 +plus Venom even appear in the marketing of the new cartoon

I'm really loving the art. Hopefully they get Josh Keaton back to voice Spidey in the new show, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Him as Spidey in MvCI would be enough for me at this point.

As for Miles & Earth-65 Gwen, while I'm expecting the latter as a glorified alternate costume, Miles could very well be his own character (as they tried to do that for UMvC3).

I really wanna see some official character art man, like character portraits. I take it because the final art style of the game might not be finalized?

I wonder which artist they're going to get for the promotional stuff. So much potential

It'll probably be high-res 3D renders like (U)MvC3 & most of the other recent fighting games (SFV & Smash 4, for example).

Yea, that's what I'm thinking too and I figure we haven't gotten any because the in-game models and art style aren't finalized or implemented yet.

Even with SFV, the game underwent a huge visual upgrade between its first reveal & E3 (mostly in lighting, but they did fix up some of the models as well as some extra texture work). I'm expecting more of the same for MvCI as we see more of it.

I agree, this is what I'm saying. I'm just asking if this is the possible reason why haven't had any promotional material >_>.

In MAA what they did was have him "raid Fury's closet" and use old and discarded weaponry. I could see him doing this here as well?

He could use a bunch of weapons that were in the older games (Hyper Viper Beam, sonson's pole, Michelle Heart's wings?), coupled with his quack-fu and maybe call in super obscure/goofy characters for assistance?

Maybe something related to his job as a private investigator

Doctor Bong could be part of his moveset......

I...don't really know

Here's Marvel Games' Happy Holidays card.

Cz17v3mUkAAfO8e.jpg:large
So lets pretend this card is the character list from marvel
  1. Avengers (who knows which one)
  2. Hulk
  3. Spiderman
  4. SpiderGwen
  5. Guardians of the Galaxy (has the nova corp symbol inside it so who knows)
  6. Iron fist
  7. Dare Devil
  8. Luke Cage
  9. Dr Strange (eye of agamotto pattern)
  10. Antman
  11. Black Widow
  12. S.H.I.E.L.D (who knows which dude. Nick Fury would be cool)
  13. Black Panther
  14. Thor
  15. Captain America
  16. Ironman
  17. Ms Marvel
  18. Miles Morales
  19. Jessica Jones
  20. Hawkeye

40 character roster sounds decent. The roster is pretty safe but has a decent amount of new and old and is 100% reinforcing their top brands. Only missing elements IMO are Inhumans, Kamala or Squirrelgirl for teen Marvel, villains and mutants.

I doubt this Marvel Game's card means jack towards MVCI but hey fun to discuss at least.
Man if they do include a random SHIELD agent I hope its Nick fury. I wanna see another Doronjo character using assists for all their attacks in him. Life model decoys and calling in air support or seismo assists from Daisy Johnson (Quake) would be nice.

Her old Ms Marvel symbol is. The Captain Marvel star isn't. I kind of saw that as hers out of habit instead of Kamala's even though Kamala has been rocking it for some time now.
I was gonna say, you listed Ms. Marvel but thought you left out Kamala.

My biggest fear for this game ATM is that it looks kinda clunky and not as smooth as mvc3.

Now this is probably because it's early af but I pray this game is as smooth as mvc3.

I don't need that clunky shit pls.

no neo_g is a really big factor in this and why i'm waiting to see dash speeds + cancel window on dashes b/c that's the easiest way to determine whether it'll feel like playing a game of umvc3 iron mans or a game of weskers

Mike Haggar was such an awesome surprise for MVC3, along with being an incredibly fun character to play as.

I do hope he returns for MVCI, as I need to pile drive my foes as the mayor of earth.

Haggar is probably my least played character, along with Arthur and Firebrand.
I never bothered with them, since even as capcom classic as they are. I just don't care about them.
