Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

Hell no! I need my mans to be riding a glider with pumpkin bombs.
Agreed, he has to be very glider focused or there's no point in putting him in. I would really like him, but he needs to be properly represented (I would begrudgingly accept a pumpkin bomb focused variation with a few supers and hyper that involve the glider a la Ghost Rider). Doc Ock or Venom would probably be the (relatively) easier route to go.

They couldn't make Ghost Rider with a bike be the primary focus of his moveset, so I doubt the glider would be any easier.

^That makes me wonder about the talk of DLC Silver Surfer. One of the issues cited for his absence in MVC3 was that they couldn't implement his board. Perhaps those technical issues won't be a thing in the new system, or they'll just have his board as his flight mode.

The only problem with Green Goblin would be clipping issues with certain moves involving his legs, like being on the receiving end of a giant swing.

Yeah, i.e. if he gets knocked down or grabbed. How does he get back up onto his glider? How does the animation transition look? Do the legs of the opponent clip through the glider during an air grab? Lots of issues involved. I suppose--if he gets knocked down, maybe the glider disappears and he gets in a "glider-less stance" (with a grounded moveset) and must call his glider back in.

I could see something like that. Retrieving it via remote control is something he does in the comics, so it'd make sense here. One of his attacks could even be launching the glider at you, which would lead to him needing to retrieve it. Of course it'd be a lot more complicated than that.

I still remember the days where Cap would always lose his shield and need to retrieve it. Cap's shield was garbage.

I feel like the solution to this would be to use his glider for specific abilities, not his default movement. Certain specials/supers, his fly, and his air dash. Have it swoop in from off screen and fly off when he's done. Then if attacked or grabbed while using it he is just removed from the glider and it flies off.

That's probably the most basic way to do it, but it avoids the problem of what to do with the glider when attacked since his default state would still be a normal walking character.

They could just ignore Green Goblin altogether and use a superior Spider-Man villain like SPIDERCIDE

Flipside would be more fun than Spider-cide. Or maybe Steel Spider

Man, Green Goblin with remote control glider would be crazy. Maybe calling it for traps is part of his moveset and he gets on it for a timed hyper.

He could call it in for a carpet pumpkin bomb run, a fast-moving projectile that rams the opponent coming in from off screen, cross up setups by having it attack from the opposite side of the screen as Goblin

Oh oh! His level 3 could be throwing your teammate off a bridge, instant KO

Speaking of lower-tier Spidey Villains...

I secretly want the Ringmaster with assists from the Circus of Crime.

If only I had control of the roster.

Man, you're in the presence of someone who would happily welcome the likes of Speed Demon, if Quicksilver wasn't an option.

Did Ringmaster once fight Spider-man and Daredevil with Princess Python as a part of the team? Because I think I remember reading one comic with him in it.

By low tier do you mean in power level or in popularity?

Wasn't Speed Demon part of the Squadron Sinister/Supreme/whatever?

Yes, that team up did happen.

I mostly meant popularity, and sometimes threat level. D and F-listers.

I also want White Rabbit.

If I had a control with the roster then it would be so good in term of characters and movesets.

For starter, I would include Sandman and Songbird.

Edited:

You know what spidey villian could be cool?

Sandman.

You read my mind!

It's funny. Some days I really want to see Doc Ock, but then there are days where I'd rather see Green Goblin. I personally would be happy if either are included, but I think the game definitely needs a Spidey villain sans Venom. Venom being in the game would be great; I just don't want his inclusion to prevent another Spidey rep from making the roster.

Damn straight.
Venom should be locked at the third Spidey villain spot if there is one. I wanna see a team of real classic villains like Ock and Goblin.
Mysterio and Sandman would be cool too.

One of the reasons I love the Spider-Man Pinball FX table is because it features Ock, Goblin, and Mysterio, which are my favs. Last time I played that, I was like yeah, they got this right.

This month's Game Informer came in and has a MvC I preview in it. The preview mentions Dr. Light is in the game as someone who archives info you collect.

You know, this makes me wonder if any of Spidey's classic villains were ever considered for the games pre MVC3.

To think they'd never been in a Vs series game....

My hope is they kept Ock's model around and decided to iron out the kinks that prevented him from making the roster in MVC3. It wouldn't make sense to discard him entirely.

I wonder if this means more megaman representation to come rosterwise

Since it's the SentientHologram!Light from the X series that's here (and apparently taking over Jarvis' spot as being Iron Man's helper, going by other articles/impressions), I guess that does more to support the notion that any further MM representation is going to be MMX-themed.

Who would be another good X rep besides Zero? Axel?

I seriously don't know. Never played much of MMX.
Aside from Sigma? Vile, X's rival who'd pop up every now and then. Axel would be next in line.

Lol, this talk immediately made me think of the Enforcers.

Montana could be the main character and have Fancy Dan/Ox assist him.

That's fun to imagine.

I was actually going to mention the enforcers as well

I'd prefer Mysterio over both of them.

This, please.

Mysterio would be crazy.

Anyone else getting Deja vu? I feel like we're going in a circle that always leads back to Spider-man

I don't think there should be a third X rep. Give me something from classic, Legends, or Battle Network. I'd like to see TvC Roll, Dr. Wily, Protoman, Tron Bonne, Megaman.exe or Bass.exe.

I'd be okay with a revamped Rock Volnutt too.

Though we'll probably get Zero.

The MMX remake, where Vile was playable, also expanded his arsenal quite a bit. So all sorts of influences for a moveset can be found there alongside Mecha shenanigans.

I'd definitely prefer someone else from another MM series but I wouldn't complain much for Vile, personally.

Vile was once playable? What did he do?

I guess they could do a Vile/Vision or Vile/War Machine or Vile/Machine Man or Vile/Ghost or Vile/insert-robot-or-robotic-suited-Marvel-character-here DLC pack :P

As for Spider-Man villains, here's my order of preference:

Green Goblin
Doc Ock
Mysterio
Venom (Eddie)
The Ringmaster
Morlun
Black Cat
Kingpin
Sandman
Electro
White Rabbit
Kraven the Hunter
Vulture
Lizard
Carnage
Shocker
Rhino
Chameleon
Scorpion
Hydroman

Zero makes well enough sense, since its 2v2 and X apparently has a large story focus. Plus they can reuse assets. I really don't think that any other Mega Man character really makes that much sense getting in after that, and Sigma finishing things up as DLC.

There are a bunch of Spider-Man villains that would be great, and its a shame that we've only ever gotten Venom out of them. Personally I think Doc Ock should be the one to get in, since Osborn's a bit more limited I feel if they stick to him only being the Green Goblin. Disregarding overall importance though, I'd like the Lizard and Kraven to get a shot.
