Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

Marvel's side covers most of the things Marvel has been pushing lately. While that may not be nearly as good as a cross section of their franchises like UMvC3 was, it was something most people could see coming from miles away, since Marvel's been like that for a few years now. Capcom's side is just sort of weird, and the only thing I can think of is that they were either trying to cut down on costs by reusing things, or needed guys like Firebrand and Nemesis for grunts in the story mode.

So as we all know, both sides are rough. But I want to know, which side do you personally think is the worst. For me, It's the Capcom side. Like I dont even know where to begin with it...

Capcom side for sure, there's just no one I care about. You also have a small roster and you insist on TWO GnG reps? What the hell is that? I mean sure the Marvel side is just boring, safe MCU picks, but at least you still have a good variety there. It's weird that Capcom is know for having their left field roster choices in VS games and there's really nothing here. Jedah is new but that's really it.

Anyway, I've been watching the new Avengers Secret Wars preview s(S4 of the animated Avengers) and Josh Keaton voices Ant-Man now. Really curious if this'll affect the voice cast for Infinite.

They'll probably use Grant George for Scott Lang, given when the game likely did their casting.

Neoxon is, in my opinion, the face of NeoGAF's FGC division. I imagine he has a corner office and everything...
I appreciate the vote of confidence, but the actual FGC thread aren't exactly my biggest fans (maybe not all of them, but a good chunk of them).

So how does everyone think Capcom will handle this at E3?

We know they're going to get bombarded with questions about it. Will they just deny it?

Why is that?

Why is that?
Mainly my speculation & how I warned you guys about the Fox situation & how it would impact a future MvC game before the worst-case scenario actually happened. I'm apparently a "worse version of Yams" to some of them. I guess you can't please everyone.

No Wesker of Vergil is an absolute fail on Capcom side.

Akthough they'll probably both be DLC like everyone's saying. Just wish we knew for certain.

Well, you've given me great insight on the situation, which I had no idea about.

You're a good poster.

But fuck Nova.

X, Jedah and Sigma are literally the characters I wanted most in a new VS game. I'm more just disappointed with the size.

Yeah, this I think is one of the worst parts. Despite the considerable amount of reused characters/movesets/animations, we get a roster small enough that even if you include the initial season pass, it doesn't match MvC3's original no-DLC roster.

I feel like they would've been better off taking UMvC3, sprucing the visuals a little, including the “2 characters plus Infinity Stones" as an alternate mode, adding 20 characters + story mode, and just going with that.

Agreed, I feel like the size of the roster is the root of a good chunk of its problems (Fox characters aside). The other issue is how Marvel & Capcom chose to use said size.

Like someone said, X, Jedah, Monster Hunter are characters that'll likely rope people in, while the other fan favs will just be sold at a later point.

Not really surprising if that's the strategy.

At this point, I'm just wondering if any Capcom characters will be redesigned.

Thanks, man. In retrospect, I guess I could have been a bit less overbearing about it. But I suppose people not reading previous pages is a fact of life for a decent amount of GAF that nobody can really fight against.

Please enjoy the newest trailer for Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite!

It would make them looks significantly less cheap if they did some redesigns... Though, from what we have seen so far, I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Have you ever even posted in the community thread?

Who are you?

I was referencing the GAF fighting game community in a more general sense. Like, when I post in OTs for fighting games, I always see Noexon in them. More importantly, he seems to be one of the few voices of reason.

I have never posted in the FGC community thread. I can't say I have ever really bothered with it. Not that I have anything against it, I just don't see the point when I could just post in an OT for specific games.

As for who I am... I am the guy who apparently sets people off by giving GAF members fictional positions in a fictional NeoGAF FGC corporation as a silly goof. ;)

That's a shame, man. You are definitely one of the more level headed posters. I don't always agree with everything you say, but you your output is pure class. The loss of the illustrious community thread, I suppose.

People that get really into companies don't like to know when their favorite company is doing something dickish. So when you keep reminding them that Marvel is excluding X-Men just to punish people, fanboys get a bit annoyed.

It's the same reason people badmouthed X-Men "CompleXers" before things became too obvious.

Anyone think Nemesis will be among the villains fighting with the heroes?

Maybe he'll even be able to talk now?

I can already imagine him chilling at Avengers Tower.

Unless Chris is there.

What? If anything Sentinel not being on the table is all the more reason to bring Nemesis back.
That.....actually makes sense. But at the same time, the question of if Capcom knew Marvel would let them include Fox characters as DLC when deciding the base roster does come to mind.

nah Nemesis will most likely be a mindless controlled beast from another villain, maybe Jedah or Ultron

Thanos and Jedah are working for Nemesis who is in turn working for Umbrella. The twist is that Umbrella merged the world messing with time portals designed by Dr. Kirk.

Let's be fair, nobody expected the roster to go this far south.

Actually, he meant Ryu and Bayonetta for Smash Bros when you said third party company wouldn't get second characters in! ;P

I'm still amazed that fucking Nemesis made it back while Wesker didn't. What's even the point of him now with Sentinel cut?

Well, they probably need a monster to face against Hulk, and Nemesis might be right one to face him.

Man, you can't deny that in the past you have made a lot of baseless speculation that adds up to nothing, and it's part of why you're a junior now. It's given you a reputation.

I'm a junior now because I jumped the gun on an NX thread a few years back. My reputation comes from everything else.

I appreciate the concern, but let's get the thread back on track before we get in any trouble.

I really wish I could have gone to E3 this year (via Vesper, though this year is open to the public) & test out MvCI.

Yeah, Nemesis pretty much can only be utilized as an enemy.

But the main thing said is that the heroes and villains are fighting together to stop the threat of Ultron.

So is Jedah and Thanos fighting alongside the heroes a likely outcome?

Yeah, Ultron/Sigma are both viral enemies, the story being them vs literally everyone else makes sense.

Since no one really cares about Nemesis, they should just rework him to be Sentinel in a Nemesis skin.

Tentacle drones lets go.

EDIT: Oh shit I forgot there's no more assists.

Bro the actual FGC thread isn't a fan of anything including each other and fighting games in general.
