In fairness (and if I recall correctly), they did announce a mini tournament for DBFZ today, so I wouldn't be shocked if that was contributing to the emptiness of the booth.

Regardless of what anyone may think of MvCi's handling by Capcom or the game itself; it's damn impressive a game can come out of nowhere like DBFZ and have that much presence next to Marvel at EVO.

Yeah, especially the game that copied marvel 3 recipe and having one of most biggest anime IP would have that good presence at EVO. I'm very curious to see if Marvel Vs. Capcom Infinite and Dragon Ball FighterZ would able to co-exists for next few years. I really hope that Dragon Ball FighterZ wouldn't end up like other games at EVO like Mortal Kombat, Injustice, Killer Instinct, etc. They just practically fell off the list quickly and didn't lasted long as other few games.

That's the brilliance of DBFZ: It found just the right combination of Anime like Dragon Ball and the one company like Arc System Works to make this game come together in a brilliant fashion as it did. Also helps that Arc System Works went through the pain taking tasks of copying the original source down to a T that it is basically the fighting game everyone has wanted out of Dragon Ball for the longest time.
I hope we do see some huge things come out of DBFZ at EVO this year (which so far for the fights that have been showcased, has been crazy to watch).

As big as DBFZ is bound to be, I don't think it'll have that big of an impact on Marvel at first. Marvel comes out in Sept and will have months of tournament play before DBFZ is released.
While I'm sure DBFZ will be an Evo game next year, it probably won't even be out when Evo games are announced (like Injustice and MKX in their first years). So I think for at least the first year both games will co-exist without issue, and probably even help build each other's tournament scenes.

Watching the DBFZ stream was a great appetizer for the game. I'm seeing extremely positive comments on social media and other forums. Why didn't Capcom do the same for Infinite?! It's the most prestigious fighting game tournament of the year and the game is out in two months. There's no excuse. Show your game!!

Man, Capcom really need to step up and do better with their PR and set up mini tournament so it would bring a lot of hype to the table. They chose not to so I just can't comprehend what the fuck they are doing with their product(s). It's like they want their products to be destined to fail but I know they want their products to be successful and they aren't showing it.

I don't know who this game is for. They make it seem like they want to focus on casuals but then they have stupid comments like functions and no one remembers the x men, and release a horrible story demo. Then the only way to play the good looking version of the game is to go tournaments but they don't do any streams for the fgc stream monsters. It's the biggest fgc event of the year idc that comic con is next week they should have a big presence here.

If DBZi scratches the Marvel itch that will be lacking, then it should easily take over MVCi. It's SFxT vs UMVC3 all over again.
This is to be expected though, you only have a limited time there, why not try the game you've NEVER tried when pretty much we've all played the Marvel demo.
Only difference there though is that this would literally be one company overtaking another rather than a Capcom game replacing a Capcom game. That would be pretty huge if that was actually pulled off (and for all we know, it could very well happen too depending on how EVO 2018 looks.)
If I had to bet on what we might see next year, it would be fair to say that SFV, Tekken 7 would return while MvC:I would get in because "Legacy Game" or being the latest in a fighting game series. However, I would bet that Xrd and/or BB would get pushed off into Saturday (or one getting in while the other gets kicked) to make way for DBZF which probably would take the other Sunday slot. From there, last game probably would be Smash 4 since it seems as though EVO wants to do more with Smash 4 (considering that Smash 4 is going to be on Disney XD)
