Releasing half baked games and fixing them later is literally one of the more prominent and criticised practices of this gaming generation.

As far as consumers are concerned I don't understand how anyone can think this is largely preferred over waiting a little longer for a complete product on purchase.

Instant gratification.

Ever since we entered the dlc/internet era for consoles it's become the norm to release half baked products just so companies can earn a profit during their fiscal Q.

I think the main thing is that there is no such thing as a complete product for something like this. They've been very open about how this is a service/platform, anything they release will still be far from complete and will continue to see improvements.

They need to release a game with well rounded gameplay rules. That's not something you can easily change after launch, nor should you. The gameplay is the game. Graphics aren't likely to change after launch either.

Game updates are like the Star Wars Special Editions, they're not going to change the core offering but the little variations usually piss people off.

Or the could delay and release it when Infinity War hits theaters.
And then deal with competing with a game licensed by the single biggest animation franchise in the world. Independent of how disappointing MvCI is, almost no fighting game can stand toe to toe with that. It doesn't matter if it was SFV, MvC3, Tekken 5, or whatever level hype, DBF would beat out a huge portion of those sales.

The gain from the cross promotion would definitively not be worth the loss from competition.

it would also be after the holidays, not that September is exaclty holiday season yet, but its closer than after the holidays thats for sure.

Why are you acting like Marvel isn't probably top 3 fictional franchises in the world? It's much bigger than DBZ. The MCU is the highest grossing movie series in history. But it's not simply a question of who's got the best license. Neither game will do Injustice 2 numbers, I'd bet.

Champ is saying the EVO build is different from the E3 build.

Also Viscant/Floe are saying that the line to MVCI is insane (for both it and DBZ). The whole area is unapproachable.

It was pretty crowded. I didn't get a chance, didn't want to wait lol.

Youre supposed to say that there is no line because nobody cares about this dead game. Get with the program please, or you won't fit in with the cool kids alright?

The line around the MvCI booth was actually just over flow of players waiting to play DBZFighters.
Easy mistake to make since the booths are next to each other.

But did the MVCI booth at least have a nice crowd throughout the day? The way it's sounding, it was rather empty compared to what DBFZ had.

There's was never an empty setup for either game.

There was a bigger crowd around DBZ cause of the tournament, but both booths sizes varied throughout the day in terms of the crowd around them.

Not everyone cares about this game in the same way.

Like, if you actually, have absolutely no intentions of delving into the game yourself, the quality of the game doesn't matter. And, if your main concern is seeing Justin Wong, Yipes, Filipino Champ, etc play it so you can watch exciting livestreams on the internet.

Then yeah, why wouldn't you want it sooner? It's like waiting for your favorite television show to continue.

The tournament season doesn't even start until early 2018. Some of those players would be concentrating on SFV for Capcom Cup anyway.

Even if your goal is to just stream monster the game all the time, it's still beneficial for you that the game comes out in peak tournament season and not months before so that the new game hype dies down before tournaments are in swing. Discovering the game on the spot at tournaments is a massive part of the appeal with these games.

And even if this is just your favorite show.. you want the next season of your favorite show to be good, not rushed out to make deadlines/budgets. Like the new seasons of Game of Thrones are actually delayed because they want to put more effort into them as they are going to be the last.

I hope we get to see the Monster Hunter character this weekend, between 14 weapons, items, and a Palico sidekick, MH could easily end up with a bigger move-set than Dante! Pls don't disappoint me with just a large sword/sword & shield hunter, Capcom.

stop acting like any of those have the negativity surrounding this game. There's no confidence here, there's no confidence in Capcom as a hole. Delaying is not going to aspire it.
ding ding ding ding context is everything

LMFAO

in what world is Capcom doing this twice in a row better than a delay? Gamers have really been conditioned to the bullshit
Or I'm just being a realist here. Gamers loooove to throw ideal/unrealistic scenarios out there, and I don't care much for hypotheticals that make no sense in reality, and rather not be ignorant or what goes into making a game than to assume Capcom's gotta move the bucket closer to the money rain and everything will be fine.

Must be if it has new alt colour.

Working off of Turbanator's suggestions, my realistic suggestions for optimizing the launch (and continued) success of this game:

- Day 1 patch for fixing faces, should be a top priority when it comes to feedback they've received with the game, launch trailer should have fixed faces so they can make the rounds with that
- Day 1 patch optimizing lighting
- Before mid-August, announce free post-launch support program a-la Driveclub that runs parallel to the 2017 Character Pass. Includes frivolous/easy to produce things like new colors and maybe a 4 player local mode (kind of like shadow battles or whatever the fuck in MvC3), but also includes 1 free returning X-Men character like Cyclops and another Capcom character like Wesker to be released in the interim between the 2017 and 2018 Character Passes. The point here is to show commitment to post-launch support of the game, which is the #1 thing to affect current and future perception of the title.

Apologizing with free content is something they did with SFV, but they did it too late, and it took forever to come out. Remember, these things still take time to produce, so you can't expect them to suddenly throw out the current stable of content they've promised and start anew. A lot of that stuff is already in motion/production.

I saw like a million, million and a half people playing Marvel. We're winning bigly. Let me tell you,.the fake news media is trying to bring us down but they're wrong, they're wrong. Simple as that, they're wrong and we're right and Marvel is gonna be yuge and DBF is gonna be a disaster, believe me. A disaster I'm telling you. Believe me, it's true.

Edit: When you sub quote a post but you've been ninja'd by 3 other posts so your joke isn't that relevant or funny anymore.

huh

I'm liking a lot of these sound effects in the direct feed footage. The metal sounds etc. sound a bit less off/divergent than they did in MvC3.

EDIT: Do we still have no idea about ground/wall bounce restrictions in this game? Or if there even are any? Seems much more liberal than MvC3.

EDIT2: wtf is the point of Zero having both that tornado super and the beam tower super?

So I saw this in the DBZ thread

https://twitter.com/Lythero/status/885967232236490752

Is Capcom potentially sending this game out to die? They really need to rethink what they're doing here.

Fake news, gotta spin that narrative tho. This is why delaying the game won't do shit, the toxicity around it isn't going to change
