one would've thought that capcom learnt their lesson with SFV's disastrous launch (and subsequent sales mishap)..

this looks to be another repeat of SFV's launch from what i can see here...

i don't think the casuals will be supporting this as they do like Injustice 2 or Tekken 7...

you can quote me on this..

Yeah. The last game I bought on day one at 60 was The Last of Us.

I just wait for the complete versions of the game now. If they don't get it then I just buy them used for 10 bucks months later or never.

So are you telling us that you aren't going to buy Dragon Ball FighterZ on day one? Since it's high likely we are going to get DLC characters, etc, etc. I swear that you would going to buy that game on day one with us.

I feel like this post is from May.

Missing out on a fighting game I care about on release is a no-no for me. It's just too painful to jump in late.

If you want to be competitive, there definitely is a bigger penalty to coming in late to a fighting game. I don't buy most games new at full price either. The only one I got this year was Zelda. But I couldn't wait for Mahvel. I'm getting it for 40 anyway.

I make exceptions but it's rare.

But you can bet I would buy in a heartbeat an updated retail version. I want it in fact.

Niggas is finally getting a new mahvel game and are tight.

Nigga I'll take what I can get. Don't give af if they reusing characters. They're coming back changed and with new moves like bruh and we got a decent amount of new characters so far like bruuuuhhhhh. This roster is way better than mahvel 3 and it's just gonna get better from here. Gameplay looks fantastic af and fun, games getting graphic improvements like bruuuh.

Bruuuuuhhhh.
My version of this post is: They finally give Iron Man an overhaul with superior air mobility and space control and y'all are skipping this one? Bruh.

yeah...this game is so feature packed for casuals right now /S
It's the complete opposite of SFV in this regard. What are you on about?

My point is that same post has been made a million times, by a million different people. You're late to the party and we don't have to quote your post, you're not saying anything new.

We at least know this game will have stuff SFV didn't at launch, though I do wish they'd show some other modes.

Was the Capcom dude kicking your ass with Spidey/Gamora the same dude kicking your ass at Evo? :3
It was. Later on, I got some crazy stuff to work with X/Strider instead of me playing minute 1 characters. The matches start to get really good. It's MikeD and Harrison at SDCC that show the characters really well.

Will there be a day one patch that gives me the option to remove Nemesis and Frank West from the game and replace them with She Hulk and Chuck Greene?

Most competitive games you kinda have to get early for a variety of reasons.

*New tech/tactics get discovered and get shared on forums/social media. It's usually minor, specific stuff but still important. Later on all of this information gets lost and people forget to mention these things in guides/videos.

*Online userbase is at its peak which means more chances to play someone more on your level. Later on in a game's life cycle it becomes harder to get matched up with players on your own skill rating unless it's a highly successful long lasting e sports game like a MOBA. Something like a COD game, people move on to the next new COD with the quickness (with some exceptions).

*This applies to locals as well. People are more likely to play these games at locals and events when the game is fresh.

*If you are competitive in the game then you need access to the game as soon as possible for obvious reasons. It's a competitive edge to be playing the game before your peers and developing strategies for the game that you can use to beat other people at.

Like imagine trying to get into UMVC3 after the PS4 released especially now. The game is almost a wasteland, trying to get help from the game both offline and online is difficult. You don't know what information online is dated or legit because the game has gone through so many iterative evolutions. Watching pro level play would not even help you at your level, what the hell are you going to learn watching ChrisG vs RyanLV grand finals? You are not going to understand the intricacies of the match and will just interpret it as two players sitting on opposite side of the corner just camping each other.

So I can for sure understand people buying these games day 1. It's just the nature of community oriented multiplayer games. Hell it's why a lot of people buy Souls games early too, there is a big communal effort that goes into the game when it first releases. I still remember getting into Bloodborne and didn't know anything about the Chalices because no one knew anything about it, it was being discovered as we all play and that's exciting.

Hell going back even further when DMC3 first came out, people were baffled as to how to play it and how to beat the bosses in the game. That's when I started being involved heavily in forums in general. That experience of day 1 is something that is worth paying the price of admission for if you follow the community aspect of a game.

last question: how much time of matches do you have roughly? 2 hours again like Evo? :o

Was this posted?

Nope, but I'm so glad that a generic city street is playable! I guess it counts as a Spider-Man and Final Fight mashup?

I'm thinking this is where the Symbiote Soldiers come into play. You can see a tank here.

Looks like New Metro City aka New York plus Metro City.

Guess it makes sense why Spider Man, Haggar and Frank West were revealed together, they are related story wise lol.

Makes even more sense when Dormammu, Jedah, Firebrand get unveiled together. I hope they squeeze in a DMC character in there to deliver the beat down on all this demonic scum (Nero plz!).

It's bait, Lulu. Don't bite the hook lol. Leave them with empty ice chests in their boats.

2 hrs of footage. About 3 hrs of full playtime from the SDCC floor. They had a winner stays on mainstage, and was moving the Capcom dudes off by the end. Seeing how they play gave me a ton of ideas. MVCI even at an early level is crazy hyper with the constant tagging and stone usage. Happy bdays will happen a lot, and saving meter for combo breakers is going to be the way to go. Supers scale incredibly hard at the end of long combos, especially lv 3 supers. Tons of front end damage, save the meter and go for mixup.

fuuuuuuuuuuu please stream that shit like last time, give us all of it :o

edit: also feel better from your Evopox :(

Isn't MvC1 the last (and only) time we had a SF stage in a Vs game?

Why tho?

New Metro City looks cool though. Almost would've thought it came out of Insomniac's game if Spidey weren't in the shot.

Was my last day of SDCC. Will render out more matches tonight with Haggar. Heading home now.

YESSSS YOU ARE MY MAN!

I make exceptions but it's rare.

Sweet. I was concerned that you wouldn't pick up DBFZ on day one but I'm glad that you would.

I'm glad it's a stage. Metro City Rules! :D So much Final Fight love this month :')

We at least know this game will have stuff SFV didn't at launch, though I do wish they'd show some other modes.

my main beef with the game for not attracting casuals currently stands at

1) Dull visuals. The whole game just doesn't 'pop' at all. The FGC and pros will be playing it even if this is justa bunch of wireframes but at the current stage, these visuals ain't gonna pull in anyone outside FGC

2) Dull roster. Seriously, other than Jedah...who else is 'new'? Even Gamora looks like a 're-skinned' Phoenix. She might play way different but her animation looks so much similiar to old games. There's barely any hyped characters and it seems 80% of them are from UMvC3

3) Lack of modes. Yah...nothing has been shown and the game might have more offline single player modes for casuals although i am not hoping my breath. This is Capcom we are talking about guys.....let's be realistic here. The burden of proof is on capcom and the lack of announcement of anything for a game less than 2 months away means it's another 'git gud online or GTFO' game....At least it has Arcade mode (unlike 1.5 year old SFV). The story mode demo and that SFV Story mode made me think that Capcom saw Netherrealm garnered acclaim for their story modes so they proclaimed: "We can do story too!" without even learning any lesson or thoughts on it. Again, burden of proof on capcom to prove me wrong given their track record.

4) DLC centric.........this is not purely capcom's fault as every game is doing it now but i would've thought they will be abit more subtle about it..(especially after SFV's reception). But no, it seems SFV's approach will be doubled down.

All in all, i have very little doubt that MvCI will be played by the FGC and the pros and will be shown at EVO for the next 3 years but in terms of sales & general reception from the public? I don't think it will reach even a quarter of Injustice 2 and Tekken 7's

What?

New characters are Captain Marvel, Thanos (in terms of function he is brand new for sure), Ultron, MMX, Jedah and the rumored Monster Hunter. None of these characters play like any previous character and that will probably apply to Monster Hunter too.

Jeez, is that really it? We really do need to see some new characters, or 1st to 3D characters like Venom.

brainfart from me...i meant to say think captain marvel look like Phoenix...in terms of animation..like i said, she might play way different but her model and animation looks way similar.

People keep saying that but none of Captain Marvel's animations are like Phoenix's. The only thing they have in common is that they are both 8 way fly characters and have orange/yellow glow on their stuff. They are fundamentally very, very different characters. Captain Marvel is probably more like Nova if anything and even then they are fairly different.

again, fundamentally different in terms of playstyle is something i acknowledged...but on 1st impression....i.e. watching the trailers...she is VERY similar to Phoenix...

Floating walking animation, 'flame' beam super, etc....

Bunch of characters have walking floating animation (like Magneto, Storm and Nova) and the flame beam super?

Captain Marvel has a solid beam attack, Phoenix has a multi hitting Phoenix projectile that she fires from her body. Their poses are completely different too. Again, the beam attack is more in common with Nova than Phoenix.

Also Phoenix doesn't even float when she is grounded or walking.
