but you are right; surely MArvel isn't so stupid as to license away their most valuable assets for such a long duration unless they were going broke. And they deserved it at that time too from my point of view they sued some legit comic book publishers (like Defiant) just because even though they had no case. But the defending comic book makers went outta business anyways from the legal fees.

Marvel was dirty and I stopped buying their comics for a long time.
 
I wonder if its a coincidence that the "non-MCU" ((Eddie Brock?)Venom, (Johnny Blaze?)Ghost Rider<debatably non-MCU>, Nova (Richard Rider)) characters in this game all returned to the comics in 2016-2017...

Blame high Capcom for this. If they didn't rush Niitsuma and his team to release UMVC3 early, then we could have got 8 more characters and we would more likely to have Nina, Gene and MMX in the game by now.
 
At first I was thinking it might be a bit unbalanced to be able to Stalking flare and tag out with that sphere chasing your opponent...but I think the character stays on screen for a bit after performing a hyper so maybe its not as unbalanced as I previously thought since you might be able to snipe dormammu and make it disappear
 
Firebrand and Arthur are in the game because G&G is getting some new merch and there also was a rumored new game in that "leak" of various projects IIRC.

and sadly as dead as the franchise may be its not as dead as many of the other franchises people pine over.

Honestly I'm happy Firebrand made it back. He was one of my favorites in UMVC3 and with so many old characters getting new moves, I'm hoping he gets some new moves that better represent the original Gargoyle's Quest and Demon's Crest games.

As for why he made it to Infinite before Wesker and the like, it's pretty obvious to me. People will definitely buy Wesker DLC, but how many would pay for Firebrand DLC? A heck of a lot less, that's for sure.

His MVC3 incarnation was extremely dull and uninspired. Of all the moveset possibilites to draw from Demon's Crest, they just make a random-ass Red Arremer with boring moves and slap the Firebrand name in english localization
 
I'd be more accepting of Firebrand if Arthur wasn't also coming back. The game did not need both of them.

Anyways, what is the likelihood of them putting out an X-Men vs. Street Fighter DLC pack after the first one? If X-Men characters are showing up at all, I think it's likely a scenario of Capcom not being allowed to use them in the story mode or base game period due to the whole licensing nonsense. Sources (hi Max!) have reported the developers saying things like "the legacy is not lost" or something, and a DLC pack they can theme around the first full crossover game sounds like something they would do.

I'm not sure what the criteria for "forgotten" is. If you mean, "appeared in a lot of teams" than Nova is way more popular than Spider-Man. Does that mean Nova is a more important inclusion than Spider-Man?
 
I didnt even realize who Arthur was I had to look him up. Man I used to love Ghost'n'Goblins. never wanted to play him in a fighting game tho but here we are

note: I never played UMvC3
 
Capcom is poor. Every Ultimate character will be in Infinite because they don't have to start from scratch.

Not sure why people can't wrap their hands around that.
 
I have made plenty of Capcom lists already, Firebrand manages to make it into top 50 Capcom characters. Pretty easily in fact.

You guys are severely overestimating the reach of the Capcom characters. Past the top 40 it starts getting niche pretty quickly unless you start doing stuff like having 50 characters from SF which no one wants.

You start wanting a character in your fighting game anyway because you realize soon enough that Capcom naturally doesn't have many fliers to begin with.
 
Maaaannnn.... I'm in the middle of watching Max's new video and I just love seeing characters like Spider-Man and Strider wooping *** and not simply used as an assist. These are characters I dont care about, but to see them being able to hold their own is fantastic. Seeing more of this makes me not crap on the roster so much.

I don't know about all that but I could easily name 10 characters from SF that I would take before Firebrand, give me time to think and it will probably be double that.

No, not Hakan.....the other thing. I'd take Firebrand over Poison, Elena, E. Ryu, Akuma, El Fuerte, Rufus, probably Bison, probably Seth, Ibuki, probably Rose, Sagat, Cammy, Sakura etc.

The only character that has me going "I'd rather Firebrand" on your list is Rufus. Even then it's a very thin line of just saying fuck it come on down rufus.

They weren't poor enough to include Iron Fist & She Hulk. Ironically are the only ones left out. With the former being the only Defenders rep (which premieres on Netflix in couple of weeks) and the latter be a female character which this game is also lacking.
