Man, I can't believe we're not getting Cloak and Dagger as a tandem character. It's such a slam dunk pick.

Wow I haven't seen those characters in literally over a decade. But I see they're getting added to MCU

You guys are awesome. Making me all nostalgic. Used to really enjoy that comic

I watched a few videos of Max's on this game and have no idea what he thinks of it.

On some he is calling out all of the crap everyone is and seems really down on it, then in others he is saying its his most looked forward too game.

He is excited about it because it plays well. Doesn't change the fact that the game has problems beyond that, which he mentions.

I'm not sure if it's right but according to PSX SEA, Ayano is a part of the team as a Promotion Producer so apparently Capcom Japan might be partially responsible for those miscommunications we have been getting for this product, along with Marvel.

originally i was pretty 50/50 on venom/monhun being DLC but after seeing the char select layout in the SDCC build during the PSX asia presentation i realized that the layout they have right now has just enough space for the last 4 chars that everyone's expecting (jedah/fb/dorm/gr) on the last row missing chars. so either there's 4/6 more unknown chars that are part of the base package (accounting for random select buttons) or the next row is the dlc row.

i know they've said grandmaster meioh is a npc but i can't shake the feeling the DLC is seriously going to end up comedically awful now because of that deal. it'd be something like:

sigma/bp
monhun/venom
meioh/death

long as monhun/venom end up being dlc then the last two choices seem pretty limited as the marvel side probably has to be either death or bucky.

or... antman?? i guess he still hasn't actually had any appearance which is pretty bizarre

This is exactly what I'm expecting. And I think Ant Man is out until next year. Prepare for a bummer of dlc selections lol.

They've acknowledged NPCs as being new to the series, so I'm pretty confident Dahren/Meio are just that. Same goes for Venom and Death and co. I don't think it's reasonable to expect Death to be playable.

What gets me is if we go by the shape of the character select screen ATM, there isn't even room for random select lol.

As you said, Meio is only an NPC, & the same likely applies to Death. I wouldn't expect either of them to be in Season 1. As for Venom, if he's not Day 1, I'd imagine that he'll be Season 2.

If they actually put Green Goblin in, they can do whatever the hell they want with the rest of the roster as far as I'm concerned.

I just expect Capcom to disappoint everybody somehow.

Trust me, I get how you feel. I'd also be hyped for Green Goblin (insanely so), but not hyped enough to disregard any future choices.

If the DLC being "all-new" is meaningless, (which, to me it would be if Venom was DLC)

why don't we just expect MODOK/Meio to be the third DLC pairing?

Green Goblin was a heavily requested/talked about character during MvC3, him being S1 DLC wouldn't be surprising for that reason, given that w/ the limited space they had they've been attempting to put in heavily fan-requested characters (X, Jedah)

I'm not too worried about any future DLC picks though, as it seems they've built this as a vehicle for DLC. It's the lack of new favorites in the initial roster that's more of an issue. They seem to be holding back the bigger picks. It's crazy to me that Black Panther is not part of the base roster.

Hopefully we can Can get a Gray Joe Fix it alt for Bruce in the game

I would love to play as Hulk wearing a suit. This needs to happen right now.

What do you guys think of the dialogue we've seen so far? Any favorites? 3's generally seems like it was a little more clever but there's a few lines I really like, X saying "For the fate of two worlds!" during his infinity storm always makes me smile.

Oh, and Nemesis trying to say "excelsior" during one of his win quotes is honestly adorable.

There's a lot of dialogue stuff I like so far. I love the fact that the character could either address their teammate or their opponent in the opening sequence.

Well I also noticed characters have a lot more lines. For example Spiderman says 3 different things for maximum spider hyper.

I still think we might get Hunter and Venom part of base roster but I'm expecting for the worst however I can't help to hope for the best tho. Here is the character roster that I copied and I added the characters in the roster to point it out.

Also I made one with DLC characters. (those 6 characters were commonly brought up in this thread so I went with it)

Sorry about quick and lazy works.

So going off of what I read really fast, the only "new" thing that was announced today was... more languages.

...

Not like the game is coming out next month, right?

Okay got a little more time to post before I run with the family for some summer fun :)

Roster size --- So I am thinking around 30 is a good base roster. I am more about quality over quantity.

My points are
  • It's a pain to practice matchups. With each new character addition, that's more workload for me to train. I'd ideally want to get in at least 5-10 matches. Sometimes it requires further research such as watching videos and playing with that character's moveset (If you can't beat the character, then play as that fighter to learn their weakness). I'd daresay you want to learn your opponent's character better than them ideally
  • I will probably only settle on small group of characters that I play because I want to master them completely to improve my win rates

So I did a quick google and I am finding a lot of similar feedback from other fighting game fans.

All that said- the way this game has been handled has still been kind of 'cash grabby' too me. I think the leak did a lot of harm. Cause maybe some folks thought that was the base roster only to find out some key characters are held hostage behind DLC. Which led me to my decision that even though I'm still getting the game it's only at a big discount from average retail.

the other side to this is hearing all the characters shout "reality stone" hundreds of times a match
Yah after seeing first footage with stones I was hoping Capcom would have removed characters saying the stone name when they used it... Also I kind of wish stone activation would be more subtle like x factor and not have a background change...

Venom being a NPC is so stupid. That's exactly why it's going to happen.

Yep :(. Or they're doing it to guage interest in the character (guess what Capcom, it's already there!) And will make him dlc further down the road. I will honestly be shocked (happily shocked) if he's in at launch.

Remember when they put Star Wars characters in Soulcalibur IV? lol

I have to say, I'm still glad Marvel 3 resisted the urge to include in random guest characters like Mortal Kombat 9 and Street Fighter X Tekken and just kept it focused on Marvel and Capcom. I feel pretty bad for Xbox 360 only players in the case of those two games I mentioned, because the PS3 versions were the only ones that got exclusive characters. It was especially bad with SFxT which had fucking five of them. There was literally no reason for Mega Man and Pac-Man to be PS3 exclusive, other than Capcom really sucking off Sony.

That being said, if there was a MvC guest character that's from neither companies, it should really be Scrooge McDuck. Just imagine OTGing with pogo cane

If he's in for launch
not a chance lol
I will squeal in delight.

I will say that going from X-Men vs. SF roster to MSH vs. SF roster back in the day was much worse than MvC3 -> MvC:I is looking, at least.

I can't get past X's annoying voice to appreciate anything he says.

Yes, because the request makes absolutely zero sense.

May as well ask for Dio in the game.

It can make sense, but you would really have to scrape the barrel if you wanted to connect it.

The Duck Tales games were made by Capcom.
Disney now owns Marvel

And that is how you can put in Scrooge McDuck into MvC-

...

Now all I can think of is how they should have added in Howard the Duck...

I mean crazier crossovers has happened. Not that I think it's likely, considering Disney lawyers.

Honestly Disney vs Capcom is not a bad idea. Can at least use Star Wars characters and licensing won't be a problem and way less tears from the fans since most picks for roster are no brainers.

Heck I'd love to have a fight as Luke vs Darth Vader or use Darth to force choke Ryu

I remember seeing something a while back about a company proposing a Smash Bros style fighting game for Disney, with some mock up concept art. Disney refused to have it though since they didn't like the idea of their characters fighting each other. If that was true, then there probably won't be a Disney fighting game for its regular properties.

You might be thinking of Dissidia. Nomura originally envisioned it as a Kingdom Hearts fighting game but then they made it about Final Fantasy because they weren't comfortable with Disney characters beating each other up.

I love Haggar's pre-match dialogue lines we've heard. Then again, I just really love Haggar.
