I think it's safe to assume marvel characters will be $6 though while on the subject.
could swear there was one a few weeks ago when they revealed the stages but I cant find such a thread so I guess not, my bad.

One challenge might be in choosing which characters will go in the game. While the full roster for Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite has not been confirmed as yet, the series' fanbase has been vocal about the initial absence of staple characters from the X-Men and Fantastic Four universes. To hear fan forums tell it, Marvel is withholding Wolverine, Dr. Doom, and the like as part of a dispute over the movie rights to those franchises with 20th Century Fox.
"It's something I really can't comment on right now," Ong said. "We haven't officially released the roster. Let's just say we think our fans will be pleased with what's being announced. And what we talked about earlier with games-as-a-service, we certainly expect Marvel vs. Capcom to be that. There's going to be content released over time. We're not seeing this as a one-off that ships this fall; it's a service that goes on for years. Therefore, if you look at it, content and new characters are going to be dropped over time, and I think fans will be happy with what's going to be dropped, not just in September but going on from there."
We almost there boys who's actually deadass hype happy and excited af?
I got Tuesday and Wednesday off so I can crack tf out with X/Zero.
I cannot wait, y'all don't even know....

man that quote is old as shit, seems like forever ago. That was around the same time as the "roster will be huge" quote isnt it?
but yeha thats the quote many people use as "proof" that there will be a ton of dlc... we'll see I guess.
This is a good pr response to the x men question. Too bad marvel didn't brief combofiend...
Quote's from June.
The "huge roster" thing was from last year, I think.
really? Could swear there was a "game as service" quote shortly after the announcement. Im off today :/
Was watching a older Max video and he said something that would pretty much be the only solution for some good will towards the game right now, and that is to announce free dlc, like those Marvel 3 characters that didnt make the cut, just make them free dlc and focus on new characters for the paid stuff.
But Capcom is too Japanese to do that. Maybe if it was a indie company or a company that understands western market (like Blizzard for example).
I was tempted to pre order this the other day at Gamestop because that Thor outfit looks really good, but the truth is I am 0 hyped for this at the moment, and there are too many game's out in the same time I'll be messing with.
Do we know if those will be purchasable later on? If this game isn't a bomba, then I may get it for Xmas, but I'd be bummed if there is locked out content simply because I didn't pre order. :/
If they offer free DLC chars it'll be like 6-12 months after the game is out
And Capcom Cup ones.Only seasonal SFV costumes can't be purchased anymore.
not Infinite related but here's a little Marvelhype for yaMCU
I doubt Wolverine will be the only one. Bare minimum would be him, Deadpool, & Doctor Doom as far as Fox characters go. If the strengthened F4 ban impacts MvCI DLC, just remove Doom. They're in a really bad spot with DLC right now. Not enough old favorites, not enough new. I could see only Wolverine making it from the xmen.

The only reason why I'm holding out hope for Doctor Doom (& Super-Skrull) as DLC is because Ryce also mentioned that F4 characters were a done deal for DLC alongside the X-Men, leading me to believe that Capcom made the DLC deal after Marvel eased up on the X-Men ban & before Marvel doubled down on the F4 ban. And while Marvel Heroes was allowed to keep Doctor Doom, keep in mind that Doom was too integrated into the game & its story for him to be simply removed.I figured doom would get fucked over. Especially since fox is doing that doom movie and still holding onto Fantastoc Four despite the last failure

Ryce's info was from someone hearing shit in tournaments >_>
This was his exact quote at the time.Did they? I thought what Ryce said was that X-Men were a done deal?
I didn't plan on sharing this just yet, but with the incessant Fox ban discussion I thought I should speak up.
Yesterday, I was told with complete certainty that X-Men and Fantastic Four characters will be coming... as DLC. It's a done deal.
Ryce's info was from someone hearing shit in tournaments >_>
To be fair, most of said info panned out.Yeah that's why I don't put too much stock in it. Sorry Ryce.

Most of which panned out.
The rumor Max is betting on that X-Men will come next year isn't happening. I love Max but I feel like he's putting way too much faith into what he has heard from devs regarding the X-Men.
What makes you say that? The ban for the X-Men characters was likely lifted last October (going by Bill Rosemann's tweet at the time), which would line up timing-wise with MvCI's post-2017 DLC. The real question now is concerning the F4 characters. And while Ryce did hear that the F4 characters would be DLC, we don't know if Marvel doubling down on the F4 ban impacted MvCI's future DLC plans as well. The rumor Max is betting on that X-Men will come next year isn't happening. But I already briefed you on exactly same thing like a week ago. You were very dismissive with that article for some reason.
You'll get a Marrow/SonSon pack and you'll like it

I will, thank you very much. You'll get a Marrow/SonSon pack and you'll like it
To be fair, SFV underperformed at launch & Capcom's still sticking by their guns in terms of long-term DLC support for the game. Granted, Marvel being involved does complicate things in terms of profit-splitting, but I'd imagine that MvCI would have to outright bomb for post-2017 DLC plans to be scrapped. And selling 2 million copies in 6 months across 3 platforms sounds pretty reasonable as long as the game reviews well. The reason is still the same. Game bombs, they cut their losses and scrap those plans.
I'm sure they have a lot of plans for DLC. Plans are just that...plans, until they happen.
I am eternally negative Intel, sorry.

That said, the whole themed DLC packs thing came from Riku, who we know is talking out of his ass.
It has all the modes we'd expect from a fighting game (Story, Arcade, Mission w/ tutorials), a solid online feature-set, & solid gameplay. Barring a launch disaster or the story mode being total ass, the only problems I could see critics having are with the game's presentation & the launch roster. The modes in MvCI don't seem that far off from, say, Tekken 7 (a game that critics were satisfied with from a content perspective). That alone would net the game scores that are somewhere in the 7-8/10 territory.I don't think the game will review well :/
I'm not saying that we'll get entirely X-Men next year. But if we get a pair of characters every other month, I wouldn't be surprised if we got Wolverine, Deadpool, & Doctor Doom next year. Plus them being veterans means that it won't take that long to work on them, meaning that Capcom can act quickly on Marvel's change-of-heart at the time.A ban being lifted doesn't mean Marvel is gonna wanna flood the market with X-Men games and characters. Including them in F2P mobile is different than advertising them in a big budget game. Things also might get complicated when Fox goes in hard on advertising their X-Men movies next year.

That's included in "presentation" when I mentioned it in my other post. That being said, with some of the most offensive faces already being rectified (Chun-Li's being the biggest culprit), I feel like the visuals would be more passable than terrible. That being said, the visuals not being up to snuff with the others would still dock the game a few point. There's a high chance it's gonna get ripped apart for it's visuals more so than the roster.
That's not what I'm saying at all. When I said a pair of characters every other month, that implies that we'd get 6 Marvel characters & 6 Capcom characters next year. Factoring in the fact that all 3 of the Fox characters I mentioned were MvC3 veterans, getting 12 DLC characters out next year wouldn't be that far-fetched.You think Marvel would be ok with a year with only fox characters?

Isn't there a tutorial in Mission Mode? And even then, Tekken 7 didn't get docked for the lack of a tutorial mode. It'll be in 60s. Small roster, small throw away story, little new content, no tutorials, convoluted mechanics, basic modes, horrible dlc practice, roster choices, lack of women/doom/X-Men, bad visuals, terrible animations, etc... will all add up. I just can't see a reviewer giving this anything above a 7 regardless of how "fun" the gameplay is.
