I’ll need to revise my maths then - I’ll go get the numbers later.
Yeah but it’s like this. Let’s say there’s a computer virus and the primary thing it does is delete your hard drive. Everyone is worried about it and paying close attention. This goes on for a few months with millions of people getting the virus and many drives being deleted.Everyone has only just begun looking for this, you wont find much in the way of numbers on a worldwide scale. I believe it was this happening in NYC that brought it to the attention of the world.
For now, this thing is out in the wild and mutating rapidly. It already has massive permanent damage in a fraction of survivors. It is worrisome that it could mutate for the worse. We are very fortunate this isn’t MERS with a +40% mortality rate.
That's the kind of stuff I worry about, at first it almost did not affect anyone under 60. But it might be changing, that's if it was caused by covid.70% of the kids needed to be put in intensive care.
I guess that depends on how clustered they were, if it is distributed throughout a large area it is rare, if most cases are within a small area it could be a new more lethal strain.150 cases out of nearly 5000000 (more if you consider China not to be telling the truth and definitely not if we consider how many asymptomatic people never get tested) is a pretty low rate - I think we can call it statistically insignificant.
We need even more data, it might be throughout NYC or perhaps clustered in a small region of NYC suggesting a new strain. That 150 number is NYC alone.
FUCK YES. I found my hairdresser through Facebook and texted her asking if she was doing any under the table haircuts, she is and I'll be getting this mop lopped off soon thank fucking god.

Does she offer full service? My ex-wife has a hair salon, and she has been forced to travel to clients houses in order to maintain some of her business as best as possible through all this. But yeah, I need a haircut too, lol. I don't want her touching mebut I may let her cut my hair.
You should do some reading on viral mutation. These concerns aren’t really grounded in reality. Viruses generally mutated to become much less dangerous over time. Read up on it if it’s something you’re genuinely concerned about. This multi system inflammatory response is seen with other viruses and is a result of immune system response in select people. For now, this thing is out in the wild and mutating rapidly. generally but not always. Already they said there was a newer strain in europe that was potentially more deadly. This virus has asymptomatic transmission for long periods of incubation. Edit: As is it is more infectious than the flu and also deadlier than the flu and not just seasonal but likely year round as it can spread not just in cold but in hot climates. You should do some reading on viral mutation. Read what you wrote. “They” said there was a new strain in Europe that is “potentially” more deadly? Who is they? What makes it potentially more deadly as opposed to actually more deadly? This is the kind of rumor mill nonsense that causes nothing but irrational fear. I hope you’re not one of the people going on and on about believing in science.generally but not always. You’re going to have to back that up with something better than a blog post.
At least some good has come from this
Go to Bed, Joker.
LmaoI am so fucking pissed about what that commie bitch Nancy said about our President. He’s OUR PRESIDENT. that bitch should be in jail. He is protecting from this flu
Yep - it would have been pretty bad for me. Honestly the stuff that goes on would make your eyes water. Btw a little life tip - avoid Welsh hospitals.
Let’s just say more bad things happen in Wales. Hygiene in some hospitals is very poor, fairly basic operations go awry far more than elsewhere in the uk, etc. Something is deeply structurally wrong in the Welsh NHS.Why? Full of Attractive Sheep?
Joking aside, why is that?

Wow, I never knew that!?! We used to go to Holiday there when I was young as we were poor, and you usually hear that their waiting times are the best in the UK.
Seems that being speedy doesn't mean a better service.
Michael Bay is producing a COVID movie that begins shooting in July based on the idea that the lockdowns will last 2 years:

Low population and subsidisation from England probably accounts for that, but money it seems can’t buy doctors with skill, nurses not infected with MRSA, cleaners who actually clean...
I think he's just pissed at the reporters taking off their masks. You should wear a mask even if you don't need one? Nobody says that and what does that even mean

Scientists say a now-dominant strain of the coronavirus could be more contagious than original
When the story first made rounds, I immediately thought of the movie 'Contagion.'
So if you read that article, it essentially says that the supposed mutation occurred in February in Europe and that strain of the virus is the one we’ve been dealing with in the US this whole time.Seems it is not known if it is deadlier just that it was more contagious

Scientists say a now-dominant strain of the coronavirus could be more contagious than original
A mutation in the novel coronavirus has led to a new strain viewed as more contagious than the virus that emerged from China, according to a new study.www.latimes.com
Get this, I saw the same story come out in Florida. The LA Times is such a garbage paper they can’t even afford to have their offices in Los Angeles.
I own a couple concession stands and a guy that works one of them keeps asking to open up. It's legal to do so. I basically told him he can at his own discretion. I don't feel great about it because he'll be working in high traffic areas. He told me he knew the risk and he didn't have a choice.
Anyone have any ideas how I can keep him as safe as possible? I bought masks, sanitizer. He's always had gloves.
under the table haircuts
lopped off
Also my local disc golf course has reopened this week finally.
Yeah if only they’d done this in December instead of spouting a bunch of bullshit about the disease not being contagious while they allowed a few million people to fly internationally out of Wuhan. Then maybe the world wouldn’t be in the shit mess it’s in. So yeah. Good on China. Way to go.
BEIJING (BLOOMBERG) - Chinese doctors are seeing the coronavirus manifest differently among patients in its new cluster of cases in the north-east region compared to the original outbreak in Wuhan, suggesting that the pathogen may be changing in unknown ways and complicating efforts to stamp it out.
Patients found in the northern provinces of Jilin and Heilongjiang appear to carry the virus for a longer period of time and take longer to recover, as defined by a negative nucleic acid test, Dr Qiu Haibo, one of China's top critical care doctors, told state television on Tuesday (May 19).
Cases in the north-east also appear to be taking longer than the one to two weeks observed in Wuhan to develop symptoms after infection, and this delayed onset is making it harder for authorities to catch cases before they spread, said Dr Qiu, who is now in the northern region treating patients.
"The longer period during which infected patients show no symptoms has created clusters of family infections," said Dr Qiu, who was earlier sent to Wuhan to help in the original outbreak.
Some 46 cases have been reported over the past two weeks spread across three cities - Shulan, Jilin city and Shengyang - in two provinces, a resurgence of infection that sparked renewed lockdown measures over a region of 100 million people.
Scientists still do not fully understand if the virus is changing in significant ways and the differences Chinese doctors are seeing could be due to the fact that they're able to observe patients more thoroughly and from an earlier stage than in Wuhan.
When the outbreak first exploded in the central Chinese city, the local healthcare system was so overwhelmed that only the most serious cases were being treated. The north-east cluster is also far smaller than Hubei's outbreak, which ultimately sickened over 68,000 people.
Still, the findings suggest that the remaining uncertainty over how the virus manifests will hinder governments' efforts to curb its spread and re-open their battered economies. China has one of the most comprehensive virus detection and testing regimes globally, and yet is still struggling to contain its new cluster.
Researchers worldwide are trying to ascertain if the virus is mutating in a significant way to become more contagious as it races through the human population, but early research suggesting this possibility has been criticised for being overblown.
NORTH-EAST DIFFERENCES
Dr Qiu said that doctors have also noticed patients in the north-east cluster seem to have damage mostly in their lungs, whereas patients in Wuhan suffered multi-organ damage across the heart, kidney and gut.
Officials now believe that the new cluster stemmed from contact with infected arrivals from Russia, which has one of the worst outbreaks in Europe. Genetic sequencing has showed a match between the north-east cases and Russian-linked ones, said Dr Qiu.
Among the north-east cluster, only 10 per cent have turned critical and 26 are hospitalised.
China is moving aggressively to stem the spread of the new cluster ahead of its annual political gathering in Beijing scheduled to start this week. As thousands of delegates stream into the capital to endorse the government's agenda, China's central leadership is determined to project stability and control.
The north-east provinces have ordered a return of lockdown measures, halting train services, closing schools and sealing off residential compounds, dismaying residents who had thought the worst was over.
"People should not assume the peak has passed or let down their guard," Dr Wu Anhua, a senior infectious disease doctor, said on state television on Tuesday. "It's totally possible that the epidemic will last for a long time."
at least China is back to taking draconian lockdown measures!![]()
This is great
You should wear a mask even if you don't need one? Nobody says that and what does that even mean
Yeah, at best, it should be "wear a mask even if you don't know if you need one."
