I'm in Mississauga right now, and man, a lot of these restaurants have been hit hard. Only one staff on hand or some places are closed entirely.

I haven't been out much the past 2 weeks but I can imagine. I see way less traffic and cars driving around during the day. I'm heading up to Orillia in an hour to ride this thing out before it really goes south here.

I wonder if a national lockdown was wanted earlier on, but to avoid mass panic, they just keep drip-feeding the bad news on a daily basis instead.

By the time we get our Trump checks, there will be nowhere open to spend it on.

It seems only a matter of time before the rest of the country follows suit. I'm already getting stir crazy and I've only been working from home 4 days.

Stay strong, brother.

Now that the auto manufacturers have closed down production, I'm waiting for my company to eventually close for a bit. Right now we're running gangbusters; all of our sales are tied to launches, and our product has to be @ their destination before the launch. TLDR: We don't sell directly to the consumer, so we theoretically have 3-6 months before we would need to stop production. Who knows if that actually happens.

You too brother! It is amazing how much this is impacting so many different industries in so many ways.

The uncertainty of it all is the worst part I think. My industry has been hit hard as well and we're scrambling right now to connect with clients cancelling events to see if/how we can help them get through this. I am glad I can work from home but I'm not sure how long our business is sustainable this way.

The United States Amazon Service (USAS) will still be up and running and 100% willing to accept your TrumpBux!
I just hope the United States Hello Fresh Service (USHFS) will keep shipping me out delicious meals to make.

I am serious. The wife and I are super impressed with the quality of Hello Fresh.

New York is testing for coronavirus as thoroughly as anyone and has just issued a "shelter in place" order. They're now our ideal case study: if the number of new cases don't level off within a month, I think it's time to just let everyone get back to work and school: we'll all catch it regardless.

This drug has been around forever and is cheap. The hype is based on clinical results not a company pimping it. The clinical results are rather limited though.

Yes we need to see if it holds up when more trials are done. My hope is that we can find a cocktail of old drugs that will work. Though I saw an article about a cocktail of HIV drugs that didn't work in China

So something promising can evaporate.

And as I said we should be weary of companies right now. The fact that its cheap means a company can buy a shit ton of it, say its a cure, get hype of people really wanting to believe.

In World War Z thats what they did. Since they called the virus African rabbies, they found a rabbies drug and packaged it as the "cure" and since the US wanted a cure the FDA passed it along.

World War Z is my guideline for the virus LOL.

From the article I linked though

A less toxic version of chloroquine called hydroxychloroquine prevented SARS-CoV-2 from easily infecting monkey cells in lab tests, researchers report March 18 in Cell Discovery.

Do you guys reckon it's a risk to go for a run in the park? Got some weights for home but feel like I'm going mad without cardio.

I don't understand this. China has quarantined Wuhan for 2 months now.

First reported case was November 17, 2019. Wuhan lockdown began January 23, 2020 after over 2 months of Chinese denials and damage control compliments of the WHO.

The implication that China contained this thing with *magic*.
In reality, they've had the most aggressive containment response in the history of the planet.
Oh, I fully agree they had the most aggressive containment.

My implication is that it wasn't as comprehensive as they are reporting (meaning, they actually had far more cases and deaths) and it wasn't as humane as we are assuming (meaning, they resorted to horrifying measures to pull off some semblance of "containment" for the sake of outward appearance).

Who was that chump ass reporter that kept trying to attack Trump for wanting to try a drug and see if it has an effect?

We will still have hope with SK/Germany/Japan.

SK took measures, be prepared for phone tracking and social isolation, but they didn't pull a China. They didn't weld people into their homes, beat people on the street, etc....

An aggressive contaimnet strategy is required, but you don't have to go full China. China just went full on nuts because they wanted to cover up what was going on. An authoritarian government only knows how to act in an authoritarian manner.

So many of them only care about the criticism being leveled against their reporting.

I have 100 n95 masks (that I have bought over the last 3 years) that I am thinking of donating to my local hospitals. I would suggest everyone else do this as well. They are of absolutely no use to you anyways.
How are they of no use ?

Never heard of jumping jacks ?

You can go out. Just stay the fuck away from ppl.

It's not like measles that you get once and develop immunity for the rest of your life (in most cases), there is only short term immunity to coronaviruses, meaning you can get it again and again.
Has that been established? I mean specifically for COVID19?

Generally speaking about coronaviruses, you can't become immune from the common cold because the common cold is caused from about 200 different strains of corona virus.

Specifically speaking, COVID19 is just one strain(as far as we know), and theoretically could be defended against.

Interesting post from another forum

I live in Eagle county Colorado which is a hotspot. They aren't testing anyone except extreme cases any more and our number is still high. I know some people that got tested before the requirements on testing started. The president of the hospital system wrote a letter to everyone the other day say basically that there are hundreds if not thousands affected here which is significant because only about 20k live here full time. I can post the letter if anyone is interested.

From people we know personally
- Mother (50's) and daughter (7) - got tested last week. Feel like crap but hanging out at their house. Felt ok enough one day to be dumbasses and break quarantine and go for a hike but it brought back the daughters fever. They are doing better but still sick.
- Husband and wife both in their 40's. Got tested - wife has underlying conditions. Symptoms hit fast and hard but only lasted a little over a day. Felt about 90% on day 2.
- lady in her 30's - not tested because of requirements but doctors presume she has it. Just feels sick and chest pressure. Waiting it out at her house.

On the local Vail moms Facebook there's lots of talk from people that have that say it feels like you are hungover and /or there's a weight on your chest. None of them hospitalized. The info from online is less reliable because it's a moms page on Facebook and it's not first hand.

ETA - they have a self service reporting tool to track cases here that is find of interesting if you are into that stuff.

https://datastudio.google.com/repor...ltHKnho8GHnvk85e/page/plbIB?feature=opengraph

The interesting thing is the "feeling hungover". That generally means they are really dehydrated.

I have also being dealing with feeling like I have had a weight on my chest for over a month. Its allergies for me as I can't imagine having this virus for over a month with no other issue.

The press seem much more interested in tripping Trump up, than they do getting information. This is embarrasing.

The media are experts in virology and Coronavirus they can help the goverment, in fact they should be leading protocols, those reporters have more knowledge than the doctors behind Trump.
