Mass Effect 3 review thread

I only played a couple hours last night and it was mostly combat areas but I kind of enjoyed what I did play. I'll say I had more fun with it than ME2's first couple of hours and that's even with the auto dialogue issue and minor weapon mod issue.

edit: Someone spoiled shit? Fuck that glad I just missed it.

And now I'm bailing all ME3 threads. Yay.

Screw this shit, I'm out. Went spoiler free since it was announced and this fucker does this 2 hours before I get the game. If you're reading this FUCK YOU.

Damn, I'm out

bail thread people.

FUCK! I am off, people suck :(

I shall have to concur. As much as I love discussion, it's not worth spoiling the conclusion I've waited 4 years for. So lucky I missed it.

why are people sad anyways

i saw the spoilers months ago (and the recent edits for it recently released) and I was more sad that it was terribly written than the fact i actually got spoiled

What a stupid question. Think before you type please. The majority us have been invested in this story since the original and don't want to be spoiled. Understand?

I've been tempted at times to read spoilers but I managed not to.

as someone who's been invested in the story since the original, i'd honestly say i saved myself $60

i hope you enjoy it my friend

How much spoilerish are the reviews fellow GAFfers?

My CE will only arrive at least on Friday (release date in here), almost there...!

Fair enough, but it's not too hard to have some common sense and understand why people don't want to see any spoilers regardless of what you think of the story.

ITT - Everyone who hasnt played the game shits on people's opinions who have played and finished the game.

Those people just want to hear that its bad so they can be happy.

Personally, i cant wait to play this.

i guess i should give you a my little pony sticker for taking my post at face value

Eurogamer's review doesn't take great lengths to step around spoilers; particularly concerning Cerberus and their agenda. But no major plotpoints on any I've read, only general stuff.

So what's the good word? 360 or PS3 for best console version? If there isn't a definitive best platform, can someone extol the strengths of each? WHERE ARE THE ANSWERS.

Is the mentality of 'the good outweighs the bad' quickly becoming a way for reviews to sweep a game's weaker points under the carpet and still award it 9's and 10's? The good only outweighs the bad, not vanishes it. Same like it was with Skyrim. It's as if as long a game excels in X it can still perfect score while faltering at Y.

I gotta say, good job on modding quickly. You an Aussie Eatchildren?

On topic: (realised I hadnt commented on the review shit yet) I'm sure no ones surprised its getting good ratings. Whether it deserves it or not, its high profile, and you can bet your ass reviewers are as attached to the story as we are.

FYI, I'm in the camp of MAss Effect 2 was fucking awesome, and my favourite WRPG ever. My best friend didnt care for it, so when I played it I had zero expectation. I came away very happy, and quite attached. Platinumed the sucker (fucking insanity run, grr) and want more.

The answer is that the 360 version is the better one. My sources are the various people who have mentioned it in other threads.

honestly it has less to do with the actual game and more to do with pleasing bioware because gaming journalism thrives on exclusives, first-looks, etc

the industry has little to no real integrity

/v/ might be a troll's paradise but as someone who loved ME1 and ME2 and has spent hours discussing it with friends I was utterly disappointed by ME3

Anythings possible. Just dont get me wrong, I think the game is most likely deserving. Just putting it out there that some reviewers would be as crazy about it as us.

Well, still looking forward to this, even as spoilered as I am now. This thread molested me =\

Super relieved to hear the new stuff they added is good and the story threads wrap up in a reasonable fashion. Time to dive back in...

I really don't have a problem with that as long as reviewers are consistent throughout their reviews and point out any potential issues for certain gamers. I thought the first 2 ME games deserved the scores they got.

My real problem is that issue X is a big flaw in Game A (and the game gets docked in the score clearly for it) but the same issue exists in Game B but is not pointed out or is swept under the rug. Either Issue X is a big flaw or it's not (granted, this can change depending on genres... for instance, having a "cliched", boring story isn't a problem for Mario game but would be a huge issue for a RPG). It shouldn't matter what the name on the box is.

What a fucker.
So glad I didn't read it though. But feel sorry for everybody who anticipated the game.

Some people can't shut the fuck up.

Are you serious, internet? Mass Effect 3 user score is 4.1 on metacritic??

It was funny when that happened to Modern Warfare 3, but come on.

Nice reviews.

I posted this in the GB thread but Jeff's review is weird, he doesn't really say why it isn't as good as ME2 clearly

Got it loaded it up on Origin(you win EA) for tonight. Can't say I'm really psyched(Bioware is starting to lose me with their increasingly fetishistic characterization), but I am looking forward to playing it.
