Its attacks are slow as can be. Keep your distance and pound it with the cannon. When you see an acid ball coming at you, move a tiny bit forward or backward to avoid it. When it goes underground, start driving around and pray it doesn't come up right under you. Rinse and repeat.

I finally put ME back in my 360.

I became a Spectre, which is a fancy acronym for counsel lackey, ok.

So I'm a badass now, they give me access to the good stuff via the equipment officer, they didn't tell me I had to buy it! So this stuff cost an arm and a leg and no one gave me any cash. Ok, no fun toys for me.

I jump into my new ship and fly to some desert planet where a beacon is going off. Some big ass worm comes out of the sand and since the controls are complete ass backwards I'm starring at the sky or the sand most of the time. Even if I do shoot it it doesn't seem to do anything. It kills me over and over. I turned my 360 total disgusted with ME. The game is either boring scripted conversations or lame combat, HTF was this a GOTY contender? I want to like this game, I paid for it. I loved KOTOR...

Ignore my rant ME fans, what am I supposed to do to the worm thing in the sand?
You will get so much money and weapons on the way that you'll either buy new stuff rarely or have enough money not to think about it, I mean, people started to complain about too much money after a certain amount of playing. I have 6mio creds and have no idea what to do with them.

If it kills you then you are doing something actually simple really wrong. When he pops up be sure you are somwhere near him, but not too near. If he starts spitting his poison-stuff, then he wont go under the earth anymore unless you begin to drive too much. Position the Mako sideways to the Worm, and when he attacks, move quickly but not too much to dodge the attack, then nail him with the RB rocket/grenade launcher. Repeat this until he's dead. Or get out of the Mako after he has only little HP left, so you get more EXP.

Killed mine.

I just got 1000 though... it's the first time where I cared enough to go through a game four times for gamerscore. That's three full game plays (with every quest) and a fast track game play to get to 60. Still, good times.

Can't wait to save the sky in a few weeks!

I <3 Wrex. Got the game a week ago and beat it yesterday with the default Sheperd as a soldier specializing is shotguns. Now can someone please tell me how to make a good looking male Shep in the character creator?

I still believe the default Shepard is the best, and the voice obviously fits best with him.

Just finished my long awaited second play through. The game's possibly even better than I recall. Sad that a few rough edges kept it from being great to many, but not me.

Played as a super Renegade female Shep. Was pretty fun, but I must say compared to KoTOR, where playing the extremes was a blast, I had more fun my first play, where I answered as I felt fit. Helped who I wanted to, was a dick to people who deserved it. The game really makes you feel more substantial that way, whereas the payoff for being super evil the payoffs aren't as powerful.

Maybe it's because I got to force choke a bitch in KoTOR. :lol

And here I am, second play done, and all I wanna do is play even more. :D

The Bring Down the Sky downloadable content pack will be released to Xbox LIVE Marketplace on Monday, March 10 at 2 a.m. PST, and will be available for 400 MS points. This is the first in a series of planned downloadable content that further expands the Mass Effect universe and continues the adventures of Commander Shepard and the Normandy crew.

Bring Down the Sky includes a new uncharted world that introduces the notorious and feared alien race of the Batarians. A Batarian extremist group has hijacked a mobile asteroid station in the Asgard system, setting it on a collision course with the nearby colony world of Terra Nova. Only Commander Shepard can save the millions of innocent civilians before the asteroid completes its deadly descent.

Bring Down the Sky contains approximately 90 minutes of heart-pounding action and a new Achievement worth 50 Gamerscore points.

Mass Effect is exclusively available on Xbox 360 and is rated M for Mature by the ESRB.

You can Discuss the announcement here

As we announced here: Click Here we are pleased to bring to you the first installment of the Mass Effect Downloadable Content titled Bring Down the Sky.

This thread is for discussion on the Bring Down the Sky downloadable content for Mass Effect. It is continued from part 1 here: Click Here

Many people were missing important points or just not looking through the almost 40 pages of previous comments and questions, so we're restarting the thread to make things easier to find.

A few important points:
1) Bring Down the Sky is available only through Xbox Live and costs 400 points. It is approximately 90 minutes of gameplay. It will be available in all regions on March 10.

2) Bring Down the Sky will be your first exposure to batarians in Mass Effect. You can check out 2 cool screenshots here: http://masseffect.bioware.com/gallery/

3) The DLC will take place during the current storyline. Once downloaded, you will need to access a saved game where you have access to the Normandy's galaxy map or you will need to start a new game until you reach that point.

4) There will be more DLC in the future, but we're not talking about it just yet. Stay tuned.

Anywho, how can I choose Insanity difficulty with a pre-existing beaten game save? Any time I choose to load an existing save it just loads the game and starts, and I can't choose Insanity. If I go to Options ASAP and change it will that count
towards the achievement
?

Im loving the game so far. Trying to finish some sidequests before heading to Ilos. Kinda stuck with the level on the
Moon

The Game starts so slow. When i was at Eden Prime i was asking a friend of mine. Why he was raving about it because i thought it sucked.

Now after Virimire im hooked I got 27Hrs in my save Still have to go to Ilos+ and have around 12 sidequests in my journal yet to finish.

My only real problem is that vendors are useless with the amount of gear you get in missions and the fact that bullets/First aid you dont need to worry about at all

Finally when you start a new save with your old character Can i change classes?

The best way to enjoy Mass Effect is to mix up the side-quests with the main quest. When I first played through, I rushed it and didn't really think it was anywhere near KoToR1/2 level, but now I'm really digging deeper and I'm loving this playthrough. Great, great game. :D

After you unlock insanity, load a previous save with the character that you want. Then change the difficulty to insanity and beat the end boss again. When you go to use the game plus feature by starting a new game with a pre-existing character, your difficulty setting will be on insanity. Hope that wasn't too confusing

Son of a slut. The save for the character I wanted to play is like 6 hours in, and I figured now that I unlocked it (Insanity) I'd go through with him. Shucks. =|

Okay that's more what I wanted to hear. So, which is it?

There should still be an auto-save that happens right before the fight with the end-boss or last level. Unless of course you saved over your previous game and in which case I am afraid you are screwed.

SnakeXs said:

This is the first time I've heard of that, but it would make more sense if the game allowed you to do it this way.

Wow @ this game.

I bought this early early January and played it for about a couple hours the day I bought it. then never went back to it. Probably because I was already playing COD4 and CoD4 just felt more "right"...plus online was taking up alot of my time.

Never cared to play Mass effect for some reason. I thought the game was beautiful, but it just felt like a bunch of meh.

Decided to give it another shot yesterday as I'm kinda bored with CoD4 and have had alot of freetime lately and I have been sucked in. Wow, this game is amazing. I wish I spent more time with it earlier instead of being trapped by CoD4. My only problem with the game is the random loading...but its no big deal because thier very short, which is crazy because of how beautiful the game is. But wow, I am loving this game right now. The characters, the story, the combat (Which is really fun).

My only problem with the gameplay is...I tend to get owned alot. i don't know if im putting points in the wrong place, or not putting enough points in the right place or what.

But I am trying to make my character A close range shotgun pumping soldier. However, whenever I play that way, I tend to get owned....

with that said, is close combat/shotgun to your face style not playable in this game? or could It be my talent point spendage?

Chuck your points into shotguns (obviously) and then anything that increases hit points and health regeneration, but I think that if you intend to become a walking tank you'll need to wait until you hit around Lvl 20-25 before you can do it effectively. Personally I'd start with the pistol as your primary weapon until you have racked up enough points to really stand out in the open and blow people away.

Can't wait for the DLC.... has there been any news out of BioWare expanding on the initial details, or do we still only have the original PR to go on? I've been busy with PGR4 DLC and Forza 2 so I've kind of lost track.

heh....perhaps I will....as currently, im like level 9 I think.......and I run out in the open like "HEY GAIS! I HAS A SHOTGUN!!

which then causes a Pinkish redish screen with the camera rotating around my ragdolled body ....

Other than Assault Riffles i spent my talent points on everything other than guns. Also use cover alot and range. It gets sooo easy. Only time it gets hard is with some enemeies who charge you and it gets to be apain

Yeah... I've been there too "AHA! I have the best machine gun and i'll shoot you all dead and....oh...."

Patience is a virtue, that and keeping your distance. One you start jumping up those levels you can afford to be a lot more gung-ho (especially if you take a biotic/tech specialist to complement your own tank-like abilities). For the time being though, I'd utilise that pistol a bit more and try to keep as far away from enemies as possible. It sounds lame, but the game does have a strange learning curve.

You definitely have until you leave Eden Prime to change the difficulty and still get the achievement, that's how I did it.

Casey Hudson: The Batarian pack includes 90 minutes of gameplay for any particular character which includes a main story plot (the mission to stop the Batarians from crashing an asteroid into an inhabited planet) and some additional side-quest content. This does include a mix of story and action. Players can choose to play this content as a paragon or a renegade, which will result in different outcomes. The two paths are not completely separate bundles of content, however.
Hudson: Changes to the main game experience will be along the lines of opportunities to gain more experience, paragon / renegade points, and levels, as well as finding things to use or sell to make money, and an achievement that contributes to your Gamerscore. You'll also find that enemies within the new adventure have some different behaviors that put some twists on the combat you'll find there.

Is that second quote implying that there's not gonna be any sort of "patch" or performance boost to come with the DLC?

Edit: Yeah the question is more posed towards new items and such, which the answer seems to dodge. Why hasn't anyone grilled them about tweaking performance?

Unfortunately nothing about a patch etc. It says so at the end of the full interview. Anyway, I'm just happy about the DLC. The asteroid environment looks nice, with the little rocks flying around, and we are getting another "big" paragon/renegade choice, cant wait :)

I finally got around to beaating it. What an amazing game. I have to give them a bow at the ending it was really well done. Things get tied up nicely but it leaves you wanting the next installment.

Just finished first playthrough as a male Vanguard/Paragon. Very surprised at how entertaining and thorough the end sequences were.

Shotgun specialty was awesome. Using the Spectre special X shotgun with full training laid waste quickly to everything in the end run.

Already considering what the next playthrough will be. Same guy to move toward Level 60 on higher diff? Switch everything around and play as female Renegade who doesn't know what Carnage is? Another custom or go with the Paul Walker-but-grittier default model this time?

Looking forward to it either way.

Beast it during the week. I reached level 50 in 29 hours. Everything from Virmire on was fantastic. The game has a lot of flaws and really could have used more populated planets but it's still really great. I'm looking forward to the DLC.

Just bought my points last night =) (along with the Halo 3 Heroic Map Pack.....just couldn't wait it out, lol....Grifball just sounds like too much fun!)

So I've finally played through this.

I'll simply say that it is Bioware's best console effort, but still suffers from a lot of the problems their other console games do. It is a step in the right direction, though. It still doesn't make up for Jade Empire. For once I can actually say I'm glad I played a Bioware console game and I'm cautiously looking forward to the next installments though there is disastrous potential for ruining the story. I'm not sure they'll be able to keep it together.

Also, as a hard science buff, some of the stuff and the way the world is constructed annoys me, but I do appreciate the fact they actually tried to do a hard sci-fi world and keep it consistent within itself.

Biotics need nerfed~ They're way too strong and make everything pointless, even on Insanity mode. Adept + Bastion = maxed out Lift and Singularity every five seconds and nothing can even attack - or get through your shields (and Colossus armor takes care of those pesky attacks that bypass shields).

On the other hand, things like Soldier with little (through achievements) or no Biotics are really boring. In fact, this is one of the major things they need to work on for the next game. Also, diversifying combat in general. I have a 60 solider and Adept and I've tried to work up some of the other classes but there is very little difference in play between any of the others and these two. You either point and shoot until things are dead or you click a little button for one of your very limited selections of biotic powers - most of which essentially do the exact same thing.

They also need to work on keeping size/scale and the like consistent. Isn't it said at some point that Sovereign is over 2 kilometers in length? Yet he is dwarfed in length by the barely 1 kilometer Citadel Tower... Also, while it is also explained that the Citadel Tower extends upwards in the middle of the ring, the layout of the Presidium makes it really awkward. When viewed from the outside there is a HUGE walkway to actually get to the tower itself, something you never encounter while inside. Unless the elevator like, goes sidways then changes direction and goes up... There are lots of really distracting things like this in the game. Also, work on the randomness of the Shops, please. Re-loading for 20 minutes to get the armor you want isn't anyone's idea of fun.

Just so you and others know, though I'm sure it has already been pointed out... getting to level 60 is actually quite the chore. The experience required for levels 59 and 60 is well over a third of the total experience needed to reach 60. In fact, it's a good deal more experience than I gained on my first playthrough on normal when I got the Completionist achievement (though you do get a good deal more experience on subsequent plays as the enemies scale to your level and you don't have levels with worthless exp to start off).

With any luck DLC should reduce the number of playthroughs for level 60 to just the two.

so what is the benefit of a second playthrough and reaching level 60? Any additional talents or anything?

Achievement points, and all experience rewards are increased by 5% for future playthroughs.

cleveridea said:

Nothing additional, though you'll obviously get a few more points to put in your existing talents. There are achievements for reaching levels 50 and 60, which give you a 10 and 5 percent bonus to experience gain respectively (I also believe the Completionist achievements gives you another 5%). Better gear drops as you get higher levels as well, and about mid-50s pretty much only level IX-X stuff drops.

Not that most of it is anything other than sell-bait anyway. Which is another thing they need to work on. The vast majority of the weapon and armor mods are COMPLETELY USELESS at any and all points of play. I also wish that when turning items into omni-gel from the equipment screen... such as upgrades, that the list wouldn't return to the top once you delete something at the bottom. It doesn't do this with weapons. It does with upgrades for some reason and makes deleting low level ones to make room for more stuff beyond tedious. You're virtually forced to delete new finds until you can find a merchant.

thanks for the replies guys. I have to wonder how the hell they will balance the sequel if you can continue with a level 60 character with XP boosts. could easily end up with being too easy or hard based on the situation.

contemplating what character to play next. I regret doing the male/paragon/liana combo. I'd like to do female next but that means liana again. Is the female/liana combo the same as for the male? Like the same conversations and cut scenes?

The game in general is "too easy" at all times, especially if you're a biotic.

The harder difficulties aren't hard at all, either, they're just tedious. It's like Oblivion. The enemy can't kill you and it takes ten minutes to kill them. You want to blow your brains out.

This is something else that needs to be... fixed. The Geth are, BY FAR, the weakest opponents in the game. They die in less than a second even on Insanity. All the organic enemies, and especially the Krogan, are insanely durable thanks to Immunity spamming. Which is beyond ridiculous on Insanity and makes it... not difficult, but unbearable to play because shooting a Krogan for five minutes to kill it is not fun.
