When I was looking at the video, to be honest, before the waves hit the land they didn't look that big to me. Bigger than normal, but if I had actually been there I don't know if I would have run either. Looking at the video I was kind of expecting the wave to crash down and then pull back, perhaps coming a little further in than normal, but not at all in the way that it turned out. I think most people expected the same i.e. their visual perception of the waves before they hit land vastly underestimated them. I think it's probably hard to guage the size of waves when they're out at see, not to mention the power actually pushing them in. In so many of the vids you see the wave coming and coming, and then the people with the camera only start moving when the wave is right in front of them.
Yeah, a 10 meter waves is not that much. The thing is that with a normal 10 meter wave you have the wave and then behind it there is nothing so the water levels out. This waves were 10 meters tall but there is more water behind it. They probably saw the wave and expected it to receed like normal waves do. Its more like a flooding not exactly a wave.

Easily the luckiest family alive.

And that surfer guy just owned the guy who cut off his own arm last year. Self-amputation? Pfft, try riding death on a surfboard. Amazing. PEACE.

Anyone know if this is fake? Got it in an e-mail. If it's not, that's INCREDIBLE. But I so strongly doubt it's real.

Fake.

I just hope all the money thats being donated gets to the people that need it. I lot of it is going directly to the red cross which is good. Unfortunetly there is a lot of coruption in this world. For example, Nicaragua's expresident is in jail for stealing money that was supposed to go to hurricane Mitch reliefs effort.

U.S. charities have reported raising more than $337 million so far for emergency relief in countries devastated by the Indian Ocean tsunami, in what some are calling the greatest outpouring of donations for a foreign disaster in American history.

The rapidly mounting private contributions could soon dwarf the $350 million in aid committed by the U.S. government, fundraisers said. The American Red Cross alone has raised nearly $150 million, and it said yesterday that it foresees the need for $250 million more.

Australian TV Just had a Telethon. All 3 major free-to-air TV stations, as well as a few Radio Stations gathered together, and ended up making over 15 million dollars AU.

That 15 million really should have been given to Kasey Chambers in exchange for her promise to never "sing" on my television screen again.

Tell you what, watching that no-talent skank trying to hit those high notes almost made me wish a tidal wave would come and take me out.
