And Net_Wrecker, I've a feeling you've not played Gears 3, as I guarantee you'd be giving it a mention in that spiel.
I've played all 3 Gears games to completion one or multiple times, and put hours online with them. I'm sure it's a ton of people's favorite online game, but it never really hooked me. Gears 1 was okay until the Christmas rush in 2006, and the game went to hell. Gears 2 was DOA online for me. WAY too much lag + host advantage. Gears 3 was damn solid and I put something like 20-30 hours online, but still...
THIS game on the other hand is almost everything I've wanted from a shooter for a long time. Every single weapon is useful, deaths are FAST and brutal, lots of close quarters shootouts, BULLET TIME WORKS AS ADVERTISED, super quick respawns, day/night versions of the maps, minimal lag, character customization for every faction and both genders, and best of all: the physics. ...the beautifully random Euphoria physics that make every kill look like a highlight. I will hold this night dear to me before the community inevitably breaks the game and finds all the exploits. Hopefully Rockstar patches often so it never comes to that.
Anyone else think they're splitting the multiplayer community by making one playlist for softlock and one for free aim? It's a great idea and I like it but later on, it'll be hard to find lobbies.
I was complaining about that prior to release. The soft-lock lobbies shouldn't even exist. Unless you truly can't aim, there's no way you suck bad enough to not be able to play free aim. Often you can run into a skirmish just blasting and pick up 2-3 blindside kills. Plus free aim matches have way more variety in terms of weapon choice, distance of encounters, and better bullet time moments. Anyone sticking to soft-lock lobbies is doing themselves a disservice.
