But they were a small minority in a coalition. Surely if you voted Libdem you would want them to take the coalition opportunity and try to restrain the Tories rather than refuse and stick to policies they had no hope in implementing?

Of course, and if this had happened the Lib Dems would be capitalising this election on the good faith won, instead...

Oooh SNP looking like they're winning my home town, Motherwell. Labour won 60% of the vote last time, with no-one more than 20%... It'd be a huge turnaround, something I've never expected ever, frankly, before these past few weeks. It's always been a Labour stronghold for as long as I've lived.

Yeah that would be a MASSIVE win for SNP given Motherwells past.

Motherwell FC fan here btw :p

hink it's likely that each Scottish constituency has a higher turnout than the nationwide turnout?

After the large turnout in the referendum, yes, I expect a good turnout in the UK but not quite as high as that was.

I don't see SNP winning 58 seats, and my buddy involved didn't think they'd get that close a clean sweep. They really want all of Glasgow though...

Motherwell to lose Labour seat.
Fuck.

How do you get all this info?

Half my Facebook are tellers or party (both Labour and SNP) activists. They all hang around the counts like ghosts on Election night. I know which ones I can trust not to bullshit.

Yeah, it's not been spoken about but the exit poll has come down a wee bit, I imagine that'll be the direction of travel thoughout the night.

303 is weird spot for the Tories, they'll not be able to get much done. The Lib Dems are going to be curled up in a fetal position.

Do you know if those seats are going to the Reds or are more widely spread?

By the way, I WANT spoilers!

SNP very happy with how the count is going in Coatbridge, Chryston and Bellshill. Might be a bit close but they're in the game.

so the DUP's homophobic agenda is just background fluff to you
As I live in England and the DUP will only be looking for concessions for NI, DUP politics and policies don't bother me in the slightest. Why would they? It won't bother the Conservatives either because they are only going to use them to form a majority/get over the line.

While I don't support their views, they aren't very surprising given how religious a country NI is. Personally, it is not a big issue to me.

I have a nice Old Pultney, but I don't drink it when I'm depressed. :(

Related, god I hate waiting for the marginal seats to start declaring.
Good point. Well, the traditional political resignation is depicted by the figurative glass of whisky and a loaded revolver. If you gotta go, go with style!

Tom Harris's hurt is real. Your platform was neither progressive nor left-wing. Don't try to make your constituents feel guilty for voting for what they believe in. Labour's ineptitude will be the reason for any Tory victory (setting aside the usual, clockwork negativity from the Blues).

I kind of miss Mandelson. There's just this overwhelming sense of watching the master at work.

I'm not sure how people think the DUPs homophobia will manifest itself in Conservative legislation. They've legalised gay marriage - where is there to go from here? If it were 2010 I could understand them being able to block that but now?

What about Gay people living in NI?

Our very own gaf election insider. We are blessed

will Beyond Good and Evil 2 be at E3?

No but Last Guardian will be ;)

I'm not an insider, people forget just how close together the central belt of Scotland is. If you're into politics and went to uni here then you know lots folk who are actively involved. And fuck me they blab and gossip. The trick is to ignore the ones you know are bullshit artists.

The weird thing was the Labour guys in Glasgow were pretty upbeat today.

The counts are pretty centralised as well which means if you know one or two guys you get a shit load of info.

Such as?

Both Labour and Lib Dems have declared that immigration is too high and have plans to bring it down, Lib Dems have already implemented a few with the Tories. With pretty much all agreeing in principle to bring it back down to the normal levels before Labour tried to change the country. Not remotely possible policies but they still presented them.

But yeah, fear, ignorance... usual guff. Labour voters are all highly intelligent, not fearful of anything and are morally superior to every other party/person.

Don't be obtuse. UKIP's sentiment on immigration and the EU is quite a bit more aggravated than Labour or Conservative's, even though they all agree immigration is an issue.

The SNP is narrowly ahead in Renfrewshire East, the seat currently held by Scottish Labour leader Jim Murphy, Conservative sources tell the Press Association.

To quote the Smiths, "Please, please, let me get what I want, this time."
