I would prefer Greens to replace Lib Dems, but both cannibalise Labour's votes. Then again so does UKIP's for the Conservatives.

Maybe. But Miliband did the big part of the job by having lead his own labour party to quite a big defeat, accordingly to the polls.

And frankly, greens have often been more convincing for the left side of labour.

I don't get people's problem with the Lib Dems. Is it really all about student fees?

they're perceived to have no principles, i guess

it mean it's a little rich, the tories have principles that are awful, but since they stick to them doggedly they get away with it

Frankly, if we get a Conservative administration for five more years because Green voters decided that making some kind of pointless statement was preferable to having a government that isn't going hack away child benefits, disability benefits, housing benefits, and the NHS, I'll be pretty annoyed. >:/

If a MASSIVE bulletpoint of your manifesto was to stomp out student fees and you then get a degree of power and not only fail that promise, the fees are actually tripled...what is the point of you? What message does that send? Certainly, why would any of the tens of thousands of students vote for you this time around?

Not exactly sure what the Tories would be able to get through in terms of substantive change, the DUP will not agree to massive benefits cuts.

You can't run a campaign on no more broken promises then immediately break a written personal pledge signed by every single one of your candidates.

But what were people voting for? It was clear the only power they'd ever get was in coalition.

Paul Goodman (of ConservativeHome and ex-Speccie fame) said that his sources inside CCHQ are expecting something more like 303.

To be honest, this election has a lot been on how Miliband doesn't look like a man that can be a prime minister and that Cameron looks more up to the job, rather then how well the coalition really did for the UK.

BBC think the Green's have taken Norwich, I thought Bristol West would be their second seat.

Such an amazing news thanks.

The swing from Lib Dem to Conservatives is just not logical in my mind. If anything, the coalition should have strengthened Lib Dem voters on the centre or right of the party.

The British public can be so illogical at times.

Yeah, it's not been spoken about but the exit poll has come down a wee bit, I imagine that'll be the direction of travel thoughout the night.

303 is weird spot for the Tories, they'll not be able to get much done. The Lib Dems are going to be curled up in a fetal position.

Because you at least mostly know what you're getting if you vote for the Tories but the Lib Dems have demonstrated that their platform basically means nothing.

There are an awful lot of people who blame immigration for a lot of the country's financial problems, sadly.
I don't understand this. Immigrants = more people paying tax = more government money = more jobs in the public sector = more tax etc., right? I haven't got that completely wrong, have I?

Think you're giving green voters too much credit. Can't blame us because Ed's manifesto was half hearted and he lets plebs like Rachel Reeves on the loose. I think the majority of the "green surge" will be from Lib Dem.

But they were a small minority in a coalition. Surely if you voted Libdem you would want them to take the coalition opportunity and try to restrain the Tories rather than refuse and stick to policies they had no hope in implementing?

So basically a lot of people fear immigration more than they care about fairer or more socialist policies. Hmm...

Such as?

Both Labour and Lib Dems have declared that immigration is too high and have plans to bring it down, Lib Dems have already implemented a few with the Tories. With pretty much all agreeing in principle to bring it back down to the normal levels before Labour tried to change the country. Not remotely possible policies but they still presented them.

But yeah, fear, ignorance... usual guff. Labour voters are all highly intelligent, not fearful of anything and are morally superior to every other party/person.

This is just going off their polls so may not be correct, interesting nevertheless. I wouldn't begrudge them a couple more seats that's for sure.

I was trying to explain this to the wife earlier. She was asking why people aren't mad at the Tories over tuition fees, after all they put them up. I said yeah, but they said they would.

Think it's likely that each Scottish constituency has a higher turnout than the nationwide turnout? Paisley & Renfrewshire South's suggested 75.5% turnout gives me that impression if true.

Oooh SNP looking like they're winning my home town, Motherwell. Labour won 60% of the vote last time, with no-one more than 20%... It'd be a huge turnaround, something I've never expected ever, frankly, before these past few weeks. It's always been a Labour stronghold for as long as I've lived.

the BBC sites stream is fooked! grr
It completely broke for me when Yvette Cooper was on. Had to clear my browser's cache to get it to start updating again, even closing Firefox and reopening it just put me back to the same point then froze again.

Tory spinners are already rowing back from BBC's 316 prediction, now saying more like 300~

Nuneaton, super-marginal, declaring in 30mins or so, is so huge.
