Discussion point: who are the "new" talents that, in the next year, would comprise a list of wrestlers that Roman Reigns could lose the championship to and cement as new top-tier stars? Don't answer this with "lol Cena" "lol Orton" "lol nobody" nonsense.

The question is a broader one, because Reigns can get replaced with Rollins or Ambrose or Cena or Orton as the title holder. At this point, the Shield trio are established stars. Even though they're relatively new on the scene.

Who on the roster is a young, main event, championship level ready talent within a year's time?

The aforementioned Big E, Rusev, AJ (not young but..) are the names that spring to my mind.

I can't see Owens happening. The only other person that I would say is Balor but my boy needs to get some of his NJPW mojo back before I'd fully commit to that.

DMinus' avatar will never overtake mine.

Also, champions should be able to wear the belt. Owens....well...

Vader is an exception because he probably would've actually killed me if I sneezed in his vicinity and forgot to bless myself.

Owens looks like he would try to sink his teeth into the belt because it was chocolate wrapped in foil.

Bray Wyatt, KO, Sami Zayn, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins. I'm less down on Ambrose than most of wrasslegaf, but Ambrose is simultaneously the least desirable outcome while being the most likely.

Missed the Shield part. Bray, Sami, and Owens then.

Not on the main roster and not young, but Balor, Nakamura, and Joe would be in that group.

Probably too late to Goldberg push Corbin to that spot. Big Cass will be a tag team guy for a while probably.

Jason Jordan would probably be a super dark horse candidate. Gable has it all but he's too small for Vince to push as a main eventer.

Moving KO and Zayn into the WHC right now would be bad for the IC/mid-card division. I know people don't want to admit it, but some guys can be just as significant and important in this spot. Right now that's KO and Zayn.

Wyatt needs a metric ton of rebuilding his character before that could ever make sense.

I think Big E and Big Cass could definitely do it, but I can't see the reigns going on too long. Not in the "face of the company" sense.

Young doesn't need to mean 22 years old. Young should be at least in the Shield age range or lower.

AJ Styles being in his late 30s wouldn't fit the bill.

My bad, I just don't understand people doubling down on the type of crap that got the thread closed before

nobody here has a clue what gets the thread closed down, it appears

wrasslegaf has never been closed due to owens being big. it was shut down once because of people begging for porn.

Outside of Rollins, Ambrose, and Owens, I'm just not seeing who can be elevated that quickly and fits the age criteria

I think a champion should have a good look. Kevin Owens does not have that. There was a saying from a while back, and I forgot which wrestler said it so I'll paraphrase, but a champ should look like a million bucks, and that he can kick the shit out of you.

Ryback has this look. Big E has it. Roman has it. Rock has it, etc. In my eyes, Kevin Owens does not have it. If it were based on ability then he would be in the discussion, but let's not pretend that the WWE champ is always based on ability. Look has always been important.

Yeah, not saying they need to be moved up at the moment. Just that I think they are capable of running with it when called up. Bray may have been a bit premature, but the whole 1 match of babyface Bray we got was pretty impressive.

Someone also said, I can't remember who or where but it was a joke about TNA, but the last thing you wanna do is look like the fans. You're selling that you're unique, you're special, you're larger than life, even if you're not actually. It's not unlike the ideals on presenting yourself in the world of real estate. PROJECT that you're successful, that you have it all together, and you're exuding excellence even if you're just scraping by, because people are buying you as a product.

The garbage you posted didn't help

Mind your own business and keep my name out of your mouth.

Incorrect. From the horse's mouth:

"I'm just really tired of the constant meme-ing, insular, exclusive posting, and gimmick posting. We shouldn't be mean spirited when we talk about wrestlers or their fans, and we shouldn't be mean spirited or exclusive about other members. We should stay on topic instead of making it a general chat/discussion thread, and we do not need people pretending they are wrestlers/managers/etc."

For the record, I totally agree with this.

Owens is in a great spot right now.

Sure, but we didn't get shut down for that.

a minion sized clue

LOL

Minion Sensitivity (all Boots' fault, mind you) was at an all time high. Couple it with TNA and it was just too much. The balloon burst!

Again with the look talk? Have people learned nothing from Bryan?

What matters is if people care about the wrestler or not. The rest is (or should be) secondary.

Definitely. But it wouldn't be too much to say that a look can severely help or harm a wrestler. Bryan rose above it, despite his physical handicap - same with others in the past. Size helps, but it isn't everything.

Bryan was never over, didn't you know?

Bryan started looking hideous towards the end with that smooth lady hair though. Was happy to see him cut that nonsense off.

Looks only matter to Vince and that's it. They never learned from punk or Bryan that if your over your over

But they did. Vince made it right, for both of them. I don't know what more you want, except it's just selective for most people to pretend there was no resolution. Like Punk didn't get a year with the championship. Like Bryan didn't win at Mania 30. You were given EXACTLY what you asked for.

I'm thinking more about what young wrestlers can get elevated credibly to the Shield + Cena + Orton main event tier. Not "face of the company" status, more contemplating who can hold the championship for a few months or feud with the champ for a few months and be considered legitimate in that role.

It's not a large list of young guys. KO was my first thought, Big E second. Even then a lot of the 'young guys' have several years of TV exposure. It's a strange spot.

The Shield trio feels new but they're established now; they're the last wave of stars that rose to prominence (Wyatt and others came in around that general time). Who is this next wave? If Reigns/Rollins/etc. holds the belt at Wrestlemania 33, and you want him to drop it to a new challenger, who can fill that role?
