NeoGAF's smiling token!
Watching the Sasha/Becky takeover match and TMF Becky has really just about put it all together in the ring. All that's left is to land the right gimmick.

Owen Hart is so good on commentary at KotR 1996.

KotR was usually an interesting situation for PPV commentary because it was usually guaranteed that King would wrestle at it, meaning they needed someone else on commentary.

The main event for the June 10th NXT:

(4) Samoa Joe def. Scott Dawson. Joe picked up the win with his long-time finisher, the Muscle Buster.

-Kevin Owens, who was on commentary for the main event, got into it on the mic with Samoa Joe. He called the TNA and Ring of Honor veteran an “NXT rookie”. William Regal came out and booked the match – Samoa Joe vs. Kevin Owens, non-title, for next week’s show.

I've noticed something from looking at WWE Social Media users and the like and that is this.

Paige fans are fucking insane. I don't know what it is. Like there's those weird knockoff pop stans for Nikki Bella and Naomi, but Paige fans are all like crazy zealots that make any other wrestlers fanbase look normal by comparison. It's not like they're marks. They're like the thirstiest dudes of instagram all pushed into one fanbase.

Unpopular Opinion Time:

I hate the Macho Mandow and Axelmania Mega Powers gimmick. I feel like it is a waste of time. Even if that is par for the course for Sandow and Axel.

Just second rate AJ Lee fans.

maybe it's the whole waifish body thing

kinda creepy you ask me

To me the most interesting thing about Joe being in NXT that he was able to negotiate a deal where he still got to do indies when not booked there. I know Lawler still hangs out various TN promotions but aside from that has anyone in the WWE got this kind of deal since the 90's when you could book guys through their office?

Rhyno still does indies in addition to NXT

Buried within the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is a very astute analysis of why NXT fans are so repugnant:

6. Balor beat Owens via DQ in 15:00 for a title saving chair shot DQ. Balor was in his complete Demon gimmick. Crowd was really into it. This was the only match on the show the crowd didn't do lots of chants that had nothing to do with the match in. But when Owens just sat in a headlock, not working the headlock, but sitting in it, the crowd started ""Rest, Owens, Rest." They fought after the match and the wrestlers came out to break them up. Balor ended by doing a plancha off the top to the floor with about a dozen wrestlers there. Said to be a ***½ match.

The third night crowd was described, from a promotion standpoint, as the best as far as crowd reactions, in the sense the chants and reactions came from what the talent did as opposed to a crowd trying to do funny chants that had nothing to do with the work, and not crapping on the inexperienced workers. It was mostly the same show as the first night.

Defenders of the "Full Sail University" crowd often talk about the crowd's passion, erecting a false dichotomy by asking if we'd prefer a silent audience. But Big Dave nailed it with his take on the fans. They don't support the workers, or even the product. They just try to get themselves "over," trying to make themselves a part of the show. And they don't even realize that they often detract from the show. I found Becky vs. Sasha to be nigh-unwatchable because those stupid chants were so distracting.

Now that Big Dave has taken down the TNA faithful of the IMPACT ZONE he has moved across the street to accost their second rate imitators at Full Sail.

It's a shame we have to tie Dave Meltzer into a longstanding opinion just to be taken seriously, dream. You would think "wrestling crowds are awful" wouldn't be a controversial statement, but here we are.

Analyzing wrestling crowds is as bad as arguing about downgrades in video games. Think about that the next time you're shitting on gaming side, friends.

ECW ruined crowds forever.

Fuck Paul Heyman and his poisonous promotion. Even Goldberg chants were for before the match started.

There is no situation that is made better by chanting when compared to the roar of an excited crowd of normal, well-adjusted adults.

Man if WWE was smart they could book Dean of how they did Austin. If EC wasn't next Sunday, they could of had Dean fucking with and beating up the Authority members till he got his title shot. Man I hope Dean gets a title run this year. Man I hope WWE realizes that Dean, Roman and Seth can be there top guys for the next 10 years.
