Medal of Honor: Warfighter |OT| of Knock Knock, it's Tier 1

I enjoyed the first game's SP but the storyline for the sequel sounds like some conservative American's wank fantasy.

Yes, because a story written by real operators while they were deployed that just happened to get picked up for the game automatically makes it a conservative fantasy when it's meant to highlight the lesser known locations in the GWOT instead of the same setting over and over again. It's still supposed to be grounded and more personal like the first SP except it doesn't take place in just Afghanistan because that's not just where the battles are being fought. I don't know how this one is more of a wank than the first one, but to each their own.

I guess you stay away from a lot of shooters though. Maybe you can replay BlackSite: Area 51 a few more times to balance it out. It just gets so damn old hearing people bring the same damn political shit into every discussion. You knew you didn't like it but the urge to drop a stupid cliche of a political quip was too much. So tired of the spinning and anger nonstop on both sides, but that won't stop here after the elections because it never ends.

MP trailer was good. I hope the international focus helps them out more since it's a pretty good idea and I'd love to see more of it in the future. The SOCOM forums were full of threads requesting certain spec ops to appear in the game and it's nice to see some of them are getting their wish in Warfighter.

Even if the game is just average, that 50% made sure that I didn't care because I know I"ll get enough enjoyment out of it for that price.

So I've pre ordered the game. Excited to see the SP and cautious about the MP but hopefully I can get some fun out of it.

My friends and I actually really liked the beta a lot. I was turned off at first (probably because I kept dying over and over), but after a while I got used to the way this game plays. The buddy/fireteam system works great.

The Hotspot game mode is also pretty unique. Day 1 for me.

My main complaint is the UI for changing weapons and loadouts. It's totally ridiculous. So many nested menus and uses for LB/RB and LT/RT, it was nuts. I doubt that's gonna change though.

Yeah, I ended up enjoying the beta after playing it/taking time to learn the mechanics of the gameplay.

It's so weird for most of us to be more excited for a SP campaign more than MP in an FPS game but that's definitely the truth in this game.

I wish they had a few coop story missions to go along with it.

Edit: Oh, and have they said how many weapons there are in the full game? That's been bugging me for a while since there's so many weapons used by all the international forces so I wonder how they decided which to go with. Lucky for the devs, a lot of the operators use the same base rifle as other groups, lol.

Yeah I was hoping there would be some Co-Op missions or something. I'm really hoping the MP is fun but as long as the SP lives up to what they done in the first MoH I'm sure I'll be happy to support Danger Close.

This is one of the big questions still unanswered. Very few details about the PC version available and the damn game launches next week. Right now everything points to a disaster unless they decide to release a lot of info in a very little time.
Yeah I mean I got it for really cheap so it wasn't that bad but I will definitely double-check with this one.

Just saw the new MP trailer. Looks really good. Played some of the Beta, and only complaint for me was UI. Otherwise I thought the game was a lot of fun, the guns felt more weighted and better than CoD IMO. Looking forward to playing this for sure.

No the fact that it's identical to the plot of Act of Valor makes it a conservative wank fantasy, a movie that knowingly or unknowingly replicated all the tropes and subtext of a 1930s propaganda film.

Seems like EA has no confidence in the game. Damn shame. Still hope it turns out okay.

Battlefield 3 review copies were also late to arrive (in some cases 1 day before launch) because DICE barely passed certification before the deadline.

It has been rumored that MoH also went gold very late but after the very negative reaction to the beta, it's more likely that EA is trying to do damage control before release.

You do realise pretty much all the trailers are of the PC version of the game? And we know it's going to use Battlelog alongside BF3. So I'm sure it'll be a solid version. (FYI not using Battlelog as a positive there haha, just as a bit of info on the server browsing etc which I expect to be identical to how BF3 handles it)

Walmart Canada has this for $39.83 for Oct 23-25 only. I know where I'm getting mine!

Great OT!!

WHAT.

Okay, someone help me out here. I pre ordered this game during the E3 Futureshop sale, so it was 45$ for me.

Can I just buy the game at Walmart and return the game I get in the mail to a Futureshop store and get my money back? Does it being a part of the E3 promotion hold me back in any way?

Review copies are being courier'ed to reviewers next Tuesday morning, not on Monday, as previously believed.

If that's the case I expect reviews to be worse than the previous MoH. Pending the shipping carrier, reviewers might be better off picking the game up from a local store...

Hey, at least, they are sending copies out. EA isn't quite sending that game to die.

Or maybe there is an exclusive review somewhere.

The trailers only help to some extent. Most of them are your typical quick-cut crap that show you nothing of the game but we've actually seen couple of proper gameplay videos too. But here's the problem, if I'm for example interested in whether you can get the FOV up to numbers I'm comfortable with, the gameplay trailer doesn't help at all. It only tells me that the FOV they use for that particular gameplay video is too low for me to consider buying the game.

In this case it might be a blessing in disguise that I'm in Europe and we have the typical 2-3 day delay in release date. There will be plenty of info available next Tuesday and I still have time to pre-order using the 50% coupon if the feedback is positive.

The email said the coupon is good until 11-23-2012

I noticed that, but supposedly the limited edition is only available until the release date (retail LE copies might be around a year from now in some cases but the digital LE usually disappears from the store on release day.) If you are going to buy the game, you definitely want the map pack and the BF4 beta wouldn't hurt either.

Why didn't they include any French special forces in the game? I thought the BFST was supposed to be in the multiplayer? They took it out for DLC perhaps?
Planning to get this. Hopefully we get more eye candy than in BF3 (which is still a pretty game)

The previous Medal of Honor was so unbelievably boring that I was in tears by the third mission. I couldn't finish it. I understand that they were trying to inject some realism into the storyline, but the end result was just monotony. I admit I scoffed a little when others said they were emotionally touched by the ending - I can't imagine becoming attached to any of the game's robotic characters based on the few hours I spent with it.

As for Warfighter, it looks more gung-ho and action packed than before, so maybe it will manage to spark my interest. It's the sort of game that I don't think really knows what it wants to be on the FPS spectrum: an ARMA or a COD, but it's more like a selectively realistic hybrid which doesn't appeal to me. Perhaps it wants to be Brothers in Arms, but EA's writers aren't as interesting. I want to like it based on how aesthetically strong it is and the no doubt fun online, but regrettably I will need to wait for a really dirt cheap Steam sale before considering it.

EA has decided to not use Steam to distribute all their new releases. I don't think that's ever going to change.

What makes it sound like a consevative's wank fantasy is stuff like, Preacher is reminded of what he is fighting for - family...They take the fight to their enemy and do whatever it takes to protect their loved ones from harm. Cue soft metal soundtrack and Stars and Stripes fluttering in the breeze. I don't remember anything like that in the previous game.

The last shooter campaign I played was Spec Ops: The Line, which completely turned the genre on its head.

I admit that the SP trailers did give off the vibe to me also but they've still got the Tier 1 guys working with them and they're using their missions to create the SP so I really doubt we will get something along the lines of CoD or BF where you fight the good fight and save the day.

I never pick up first person military shooters day one but this time I've made an exception. I regretted listening to all the impressions of the first one because when I finally got around to playing it I enjoyed it immensely (the campaign, didn't touch the MP). This is supposed to have the same characters right?

Got an email saying preload is available but when I fire up origin that doesn't seem to be the case. Same for anyone else?

Just to let you know, we (Origin) found a small issue with pre-loading MOHW LE, and we're working on a fix right now. I don't have an ETA on when it'll go back up, but hopefully it'll be soon.

Also, for those looking at my user title, I'm now the CM over on Origin, no longer with Volition.

We'll get that fixed as soon as I can find an admin. Sorry about that.
