Mario is whored out like no other, forget Final Fantasy. There has been a countless amount of games featuring him lately.

Yeah, it's safe to say FFIV will end up considerably lower than FFIII.

I have this feeling it'll do much better than FFIII in the U.S. and Europe, though.

All within my expectation except for a bigger drop for PSP than I expected. I'm interested to see how it does in the following weeks.

I'm also interested as to how DS will do in the following weeks to get a good idea of how it will do in 2008 with/without a price drop/new model.

I think PS3/360/PSP may see a bit more dropping before sales stabilise.

Galaxy!

And thus, Bye bye FFV and VI DS. Not that I'm complaining there. Enough with the remakes already.
No no no no no no no. I will cry if FFV doesn't see a remake.

FFIV's holding on quite well, I thought. If it can keep a decent pace during this slower sales period, it could make it to ~750,000 eventually. Rune Factory 2 took a big hit this week, though, sadly.

What are these? I'm guessing 'My Housekeeping Diary' for No.29, but not sure about No.30...

The long years of Gamecube failure slowly drove him crazy?

Why are you asking the obvious,do you see any releases for the past few weeks?

Do you ever have an avatar that doesn't feature whoever that girl is? :lol

Well, it's actually retaining hardware numbers better than I thought it would.

Not that I would like to question such things (since I like Mario games and consider Galaxy to be the best game I played in years) but I wonder why Mario hasn't suffered the same fatigue that Final Fantasy has?

It could be the perceived quality value, but I imagine that for all its rehashing Final Fantasy still holds a strong perception of quality assurance, almost as well as Mario does... So could it be that despite the similarity of certain releases (i.e. the Mario Parties, Mario sports titles and Galaxy to Mario 64/Sunshine) they are at least perceived as new entries over a very wide spectrum of gaming genres, whereas Final Fantasy is focused mostly on porting and remaking previous entries in its almost entirely standard RPG-only back catalogue?

It's not like people buy consoles only out of mere trust. Like, it happens for a short period, but now there's need of games.

30k a week is still 120k a month.

The PS3 was lucky to muster that much through much of 2007 in the USA.

120k+ in JP with no new games to speak of is impressive and exceeds expectations.

Yet another week of Wii Fit sales > Wii hardware sales. Impressive, it's stayed above 100K a lot longer than I imagined.

PS3 won't stabilize until the SKU issue is fixed, as you should know, the 20 and 60 units are gone and they still haven't packaged the DS3 in. There needs to be a definitive unit because right now it's just a mess. I wonder what is taking them so long, although I know they won't announce it too early because then everybody would just wait for it.

I was expecting the DMC4 package to have DS3 but it doesn't.. guess that means at least 2 more months or so without it bundled

120K in Japan per month is not impressive in any stretch of the term.

Why something sells bad doesn't change that it's selling bad.

Nice Wii & PS3 sales. Hope this is the baseline for Feb & March week, or at most 20% to 30% drop from this week's figure.
Wii Fit to remain in Top 10 througout Year 2008 ?
No We love Golf (Wii) # ? Is this game advertised in Japan ? I was hoping that it can creep back (ala SMG).

Hey, it's better than most of the crap Square put out these days...
Well yeah, but that's part of the problem. FFIV is a very well done remake, but this remake would probably have sold a lot better had there not been so many FF branded titles between FFIII and its release that likely diluted its impact.

Layton 1 selling more than half of what Layton 2 is doing. <:
I think given how close their releases were and the possibility that a lot of people would feel compelled to play the first game before or after jumping into the second works in the favour of the first game.

I don't think its that horrible, if they can actually maintain that.

Far more worrying IMO is the total lack of PS3 software selling.

Amazing DSLite numbers. Even after surpassing the PS2 and without a price cut. Mariokart DS, New Super Mario Bros, More Brain Training, Animal Crossing still poping up in the charts. Amazing indeed.

Layton 1 selling more than half of what Layton 2 is doing.

Would be amazing if they both ended up as million sellers.

Call of Duty 4 (of all games) appearing in the charts for a month isn't good? Most games don't have Wii <title> or Mario <title> or DS casual game legs you know.

Level 5 could become a big publisher if they keep releasing stuff like this. They somehow know what sells, would be wonderfull if they could become as big as Square Enix.

Having one or two games chart in the top 30 is good?

Is it just me or is it, at first glance, starting to look like:
ps3 = psp?
wii = ds?
