Heh, that reminds me. For those saying that PS3 never leading the next-gen console sales in Japan, that could be off. Depends on when the shipments happened. If we were to assume that PS3 and X360 sales for every day of that week were completely flat, PS3 would've overtaken X360 one day before the Wii released.

Yeah, definitely. Surely there's a way I can work around that through a bit of code or a temporary table with 0s, but since I believe this is the first time my line comparison has had a system appear in the middle of a graph it hadn't occurred to me to do so. As you can see by the "Example 2" that continues to sit at the top of all line graphs, it's sat in a state of half-bakedness for months.

EDIT: I'll go out on a limb and say, yeah, it could. :)

Does it really matter? The PS3 will overtake the 360 again the week afterwards. And the week after that .... and the week after that ... and the week after that ... etc. etc. etc.

Has Nintendo got their second shipment out in Japan yet?

Those PS3 shipments and PSP numbers are dismal. Looks like the PSP is back in its slump after that brief jump with the new colors.

I'm really starting to doubt if Sony can even ship 1.5 million worldwide this year. They sure as hell are not shipping 100k-200k in North America a week like they promised either.

Wow. The 360 might take the lead back over the PS3 next week unless Sony ships more units (or sells more). I can't believe sales went down two weeks in a row. 0_0

Yeah. This is starting to get to a point where I'm not really sure you can classify the PS3 as being "on market". It's effectively not really launching until 2007, Sony just didn't have the heart to delay the system again. Just about a total disaster.

Just of note: The DSL should overtake the DS LTD within a week (in the charts two weeks from now).

The DS was released just over 24 months ago.
The DS Lite was released around 9 months ago.

That means the DS Lite has achieved all the DS has in almost a third of the time that the original DS has, despite the constant shortages. Imagine what it could have achieved.

Amazing.

Well, to answer Yamauchi's question: the latest Wii shipment in Japan was apparently today. Amazon had it as the top seller within the hour and is now sold out.

The same with the DS actually. :lol

IMO, Zelda and Pokemon BR have a (mostly) different target audience. And Pokemon BR really shoud be released on holiday, to get the biggest sales possible.
