Does anyone know how many consoles Nintendo's shipping this week?

Pity about third party games, but they might sell more in the run up to the holidays since there's only so many Nintendo games...

regarding the 360... i think its reasonable to believe that 360 is bombing in japan because its a north american product.

why people don´t say that? is there any study on how well western companies fare in japan? is coke/general motors/nike a sucess or a flop? maybe a study like that would help us understand xbox in japan.

i think this argument is valid. it boggles my mind that japanese games can be sucesfull worldwide, but western games just don´t make in japan. even when they are very similar in style, the western game bombs (god of war) while the japanese sell a lot (DMC). i think crash bandicoot is the only western title i can think of that sold really well in japan... anybody else with better examples in this subject?
This has been brought up before, but can you explain the conflict between this theory and the Apple iPod's raging success in Japan, while Sony and Samsung have been struggling to take share? Apple is a North American company.

Also, if the Blue Dragon situation in Japan is any indicator, the Japanese public is willing to plunk down for the system en masse if it has games they want to play. But since no hard numbers are in, let's hold off on that one until next week, just tossing it out.

I guess no one bought a 360 in anticipation of Blue Dragon. Must be waiting to pick up their bundle preorders.

In other news, Xbox1 sales went up! Huzzah?...

You realise that PS2 is in its last legs and there are over 20 million owners now? That it's keeping pace with the PSP is still solid and hugely impressive. Ultimately, most people that want the system have already gotten it and you can't possibly see those one amazing sales figures you used to see earlier in its lifespan.

Pretty crazy when you take out the Wii sales (and PS3 if you wanted) it looks like any other Media Create sales thread. Unreal.

Edit: Wow, PS2 > 20 mil. Congrats Sony! What did PS1 finish up with?

Well, if by earlier you mean this year yes, thats what I was expecting.

It had a pricedrop which pushed it to 30k weekly and since then (after months always >20k) it goes down with PS3 release to 15k or so. And it doesn't seem to come back even with pink version and christmas push. Its pretty likely that it will go down to 10k or so as soon as christmas period ends.

Sure its impressive nontheless! Awesome performance since its launch, but it seems PS3 will slowly kill it, I thought they would battle a little more, specially considering PS3 situation.

Well Blue Dragon wasn't out yet for these MCs, we'll have to wait for next week's numbers to know how many Xbox360 BD will sell.

PSP is in huge trouble. 24k during this time of the year is very bad, especially compared to the 92k it sold last year during the same week.

Japan seems to do platform turn-overs fairly quick.... same thing happened with GBA/DS.

Why are PS3 sales so low for this 2nd week?
Because Sony has in fact decided that they were going to stop production of PS3 and focus on delivering a PS2 + wiggle

Sony should ship more PS3s. Those totals are ridiculous. It's the best time to SELL a console!!

I'm sure they are just sitting on them in a factory somewhere. It's Phil Harrison's revenge on England for those schoolyard beatings he used to take.

You know, I've noticed that, too. Take North America for example, we're going on year two of the Nintendo DS and the GBA is still squeezing a healthy portion from its overall sales.

Last year there was Giga Pack plus Monster Hunter Potable which made 92k.

If you actually look at both this and last year's sales chart, there is almost NO holiday effect on hardwares in this period of time (11/27 - 12/03) in Japan, unlike NA.

Oh man. It looks like Sony's power is going down too quickly. And Nintendo is reaching much more then the heavens: Betelgeuse, Rigel or Antares.

PS3 sales, software and hardware, are reaaaaaaally pathetic. I wonder if it's even a shipping problem anymore. :p

Hardware : Percentage of total hardware sales

Wii : 57.1
DSL : 28.8
PS3 : 5.1
PSP : 3.9
PS2: 3.8

Manufacturer : Percentage of total hardware sales

Nintendo : 86.5 (DSL/Wii account for 99.3% of all Nintendo hardware sales)
Sony : 12.8
MS : 0.66

* NB percentages are rounded to nearest d.p.

To be honest. Nintendo probably managed to capture an even greater percentage of the market if you believe that, in fact, Wii sold all 400k units...and the 50k difference with MC figures is an result of the limited survey from which they extrapolate national figures.
