Whenever I see 360 sales in Japan I just shake my head.

Idiots.
To be fair, the new Value Pack was sold out in a lot of places last week. It's only just being restocked this week.

You can't really blame them. The Xbox was such a failure over there. Brand counts for a lot with the Japanese, I guess, and Microsoft does a terrible job marketing the system. If you're going to blame the Japanese for anything, don't blame them for not buying the 360.

3. PS3 - 55,924
4. WII - 34,546

IT HASS BEGUN!!

It'll likely be over in about two weeks.
Wow. You really think the PS3 will have so thouroughly crushed the Wii that victory can be declared in just 2 weeks. That's quite bold of you.

looks like the battlefield is starting to get interesting in Japan... I wonder how WiiFit will perform hardware-wise, after Mario, anything is possible :S

Think he was talking about the PS3 sales being high(er) not lasting more than 2 weeks.

Wii comparisons: After week 50, Wii is where GCN was at 202.4 weeks (July 26, 2005), where GBA was at 39.2 weeks (December 17, 2001), where DS was at 52.0 weeks (November 27, 2005), where PS2 was at 59.5 weeks (April 18, 2001), and where PSP was at 86.6 weeks (August 3, 2006).

PS3 comparisons: After week 53, PS3 is where PS2 was at 6.6 weeks (April 13, 2000), where PSP was at 22.0 weeks (May 7, 2005), where GCN was at 30.1 weeks (April 7, 2002), and where Wii was at 8.1 weeks (January 21, 2007).

DS vs PSP: Weekly shares of 57.2 / 42.8, bringing total shares to 74.7 / 25.3. If DS stops selling and PSP continues at this week's rate, it catches up in 223.7 weeks (February 24, 2012).

PS3 vs Wii: Weekly shares of 61.8 / 38.2. Though this is of course the first time PS3 has beat Wii, the percentage by which it did so wasn't much. The last time Wii had a weekly share as low as PS3 did this week were the two weeks of Gundabump. Total shares come to 25.6 / 74.4. PS3 again has a stronger total share versus Wii than PSP does against DS. At this week's rates, PS3 catches up to Wii in 115.9 weeks (January 31, 2010). If Wii stops selling and PS3 continues at this week's rate, it catches up in 44.3 weeks (September 17, 2008).

PS2 vs DS: At this week's rates, DS catches up to PS2 in 12.1 weeks (February 3, 2008) at ~20.9 million apiece.

First time ever the PS2 is under 10k?
There was a week during the fall 2000 shortages where Famitsu has it doing that twice consecutively (even going under 5K one week), but this is the first time since.

I still dont understand PSP sales
Handhelds are quite popular there and the redesign has really boosted sales.

I'm curious as to how the 40GB PS3 sales will be next week, since that was only one day, along with DW6 sales.

The PS3 should do similiar numbers to this week, probably slightly higher since it's the first full week for the 40GB. After that it would normally decline until sales find their new level but with the holiday the price cut should maintain strong sales until after the new year.

I meant the lead.

PSP did not maintain it's lead. :D

Well it kinda did in a way. People never expected the PSP to outsell the DS for more than one week so maintaining a lead on the DS was never in discussion.

The major question in most people's mind was how long the Slim can outsell the Wii. Most people thought less than a month. Remember when we used to have those Wii vs PSP charts and time of catching up. Well we kinda stopped having those.

Well its been outselling the Wii easily since the Slim release. So it did maintain it's lead.

Could the PS3 hit 1mil YTD?

150K units to go. That should be easy to achieve, no?

And PS2 vs. Wii? That's more intersting in the battle of home consoles than Ps2 vs. DS. Will Wii we able to overtake PS2 and when?

Famitsu's software pie for the week of 2007-10-29 is interesting for a few reasons:
*With Super Mario Galaxy, Wii had 31.6% of software sales; its greatest percent yet.
*With Ace Combat 6, X360 had 9.0% of software sales; its greatest percent yet.
*Combine those with the regularly-decent PS2, and consoles had 57.4%. This is only the second time this year consoles have had more than half; the last time was 52.5% the week of Mario Party 8, Hot Shots Golf 5, and Oblivion X360.
*PSP at 5.3%, basically back to pre-Crisis Core.

Well, that's crazy far-off in the future. Switching out DS figures and sticking in Wii figures for a second, though...

PS2 vs Wii: At this week's rates, Wii catches up to PS2 in 667.9 weeks (August 29, 2020) at ~26.9 million apiece.

18,588 for the best PSP game? Screw you Japan.
Sad part is, there are a lot more people playing than 18.5K.

Just for psp, MC or GAF should include the number of downloads on torrent sites for each game. :lol
