Well it´s been a while since I don´t enter in a MC thread, so can anyone explain those numbers to me:

how longs as the PSP selling that much?
how the hell is the PS3 selling more than the Wii?
why the wii is selling kinda low, expecially after SMG being released?

Last time I used to enter it was DS>Wii>Psp>Ps3>360... so I not trying to start a war or something, I´m just lost

Iwata already pressed the Panic button by pushing Miyamoto for a December WiiFit release. Wii is not selling what it is supposed to sell, but thats Nintendo's own fault, they should have had something like WiiFit much earlier. Onces WiiFit launches wii will do 100k numbers again, and I suspect that they have other such titles ready to go after that as well.

36000 Wii consoles sold is a big disappointment. Here in the UK, if supply was not restricted weekly Wii Console sales would be 100000.

Software alone will not be enough to substantially boost Wii sales in Japan. Nintendo needs to offer bundles as well as new colours(Black Wii)

Sony has kicked Nintendo's Wii ass for 2 weeks in a row despite good software sales. If I was Iwata, I would set off the panic button. They need to do something quick to attract more hardcore gamers.

Compared to PS3's 53000, the Wii's 36000 is a disappointment because Wii is selling lots more software than PS3 plus it has new entry UC. If there was no new games released or the games bombed then I wouldn't be worried, but Umbrella chronicles sold 105000 units and yet Wii consoles sales are almost the same as last week. This suggest that Nintendo needs to do a lot more to attract new gamers(hardcore & casual) to the Wii experience, they have definutely been lazy lately.

Playstation resurrection! And if the PS3 would die down a little the next coming weeks, the PSP is still holding strong. Really great and somehow strange how there's such a sudden upswing in PSP sales since MHP2.

RE:UC sales are not that great (how many days of sales does this include?)

SMG still somewhat holding on, but deserves much better of course.

Heavenly Sword did bad, but considering other PS3 bombs, I'm actually surprised it did that much.

Wii really seems to have leveled out on the 30k mark.

Well, it is most definitly true that games sell consoles so its only reasoneble to wait for certain games for console sales to rise. The Wii is selling as good as a typical PS2 week a few years ago so thats not a problem but Nintendo's goal is not Playstation 2 numbers, its much more than that so I'm talking specifically about numbers that absolutely destroy the competition, not only sell a few thousand more on average. WiiFit is the kind of software that can do that.

There's a difference between a console tracking behind the GameCube and people saying "Oh it'll all change with <game x>" and a console tracking AHEAD of the PS2 and people saying "Oh it'll do even better with <game x>".

No, it's only funny when it's done over and over again and yet every "savour" bombs. With the Wii it hasn't nearly gotten to that point. Some people had unrealistic hope for SMG, and a lot of people think WiiFit will be a massive hit (with good reason considering the non-gaming crowd in Japan). That's not damage controlling (just yet). If Wiifit bombs and N-fans move on to "wait for game x", then you can start laughing at them. Right now you're just trolling.

PSP Slim launched. At first the PSP had a steady drop from its 200k+ launch and most people thought it was going back to its 20-30k days until about 80k when it started to drop really slowly. Then it hit 60k and its been hovering around 60k for over a month.

Wii hardware fell of the face of the earth (Compared to what it used to do) as did most software. Mario Striker bombs, Galaxy bombed, PS2 simo-releases bombed, Z&W bombed, RE:UC is pretty much the first software title in months that didn't disappoint. (Lets just say when people are bragging about a game that will end up average among the RE side games collection, things were going pretty bad)

The PSP hit its lowest weekly sales ever the week before the PSP Slim launched and then proceeded to do its best week ever two weeks later. It's dropped back below the DS since then, but it's still been a consistent 50-60K per week. (See first chart on page.)

40GB released, new color, Shin Sangoku Musou 5 (Dynasty Warriors 6) released all on the same day last Sunday. This is the first full week of data at the new price and with Musou 5 released.

The Wii satisfied demand the week of Obun in mid-August and steadily dropped in weekly sales thereafter. Super Mario Galaxy was expected to push it back up to 60-75K per week levels, but it didn't. This is still ~10K higher per week than it got down to before Super Mario Galaxy's release, though. (See first chart on different page.)

But that is the kind of software that can keep a platform at astronomical numbers. Wii isn't doing bad numbers at all, but its not lighting up the charts like the DS did in its best days. WiiFit is the title to do such a thing, not Mario Galaxy. I'm very curious myself as well.

1. PS3 is still not in any position to trump the Wii anytime soon.. even with the hardware launch
2. same applies to PSP
3. Wiis thirdparty sales are not poor as REUC demonstrates..
4. still Wii needs to get back in its leader position.. PS2 sold like 90k every week back in 2002.. The wii is the market leader and it has to pull out such sales... which clearly is not the case..

RE:UC - Solid start. Would like to know what the shipment was i.e, to know if it could have sold more. Still, the first 3rd party success in a while.

Galaxy...sigh. I think its doomed.

Ghost Squad- keeps chugging along, no doubt helped by RE:UC this week. Not a hit or anything, but seems like Sega would be pretty pleased.


PS3 hardware- Good, but about what I expected since last weeks number included ONE day with the new model. We'll see how it holds up. One sign that it may be strengthening- PS2 sales down to under 10K. Maybe its finally taking some of those owners.

Wii hardware- a bit disappointed that it remained stagnant, but at least it looks like its finally out of the 20K range.

Wii fit is of course the huge wild card here. I think its going to be absolutely massive, but if it doesn't do well..then we may have ourselves a ball game.

Nice sales for REUC and over 50K for PS3 is good. PSP sales are very impressive.

If I'm reading the blog correctly (babelfish), at this retailer, Wii Fit pre-orders have doubled SSBB! Great news if true. SSBB looks amazing and is set to be one of this generation's biggest selling games in Japan and for Wii Fit to already have such interest bodes well for its sales.

Okay, dude, he actually wasn't talking about Wii sales, but sales of Umbrella Chronicles, which have fuck-all to do with Wii sales as far as I'm concerned. Similarly, when people complain about SMG, it is generally because they want the game to be selling better, not because they wish it were a better system seller. Yes, the PS3 is outselling the Wii, but the obscene glee you're taking in it is almost disturbing. After two weeks, do you really see a "trend" of the PS3 outselling the Wii? I think the PSP outsold the DS for a few weeks as well, but while it's remained high it certainly isn't exceeding the latter, and the PSP currently has a much better Japan-oriented library than the PS3, in addition to being much cheaper, a handheld (which basically doubles your sales in Japan), and still relatively new hardware.

Ratchet & Clank and Heavenly sword are both kind of bomba, but they had low shipments so they were expected bombas.
