You're crazy. What's there to tweak? You mean overclocking? Overvolting? Downloading all the latest drivers and installing them? Alienware doesn't do anything any competent enthusiast doesn't do themselves (and probably better).
Yes, you are right. Just because i read something and said afaik (which means "as far as i know" by the way) that means im crazy. You have understood how it works. Not!
You might want to check out number 4 and 10 on that list. I take for granted that they have the latest drivers installed when shipping the PC. Having the latest drivers doesnt exactly fall under "tweaking" either. If they overclock, i dont know, i just read what that page said. And if the case is that Alienware uses the same techniques the enthusiasts use, wouldnt that mean they also tweak the system? Next time you might not want to be so quick with your comments.

I think Alienware only overclocks certain systems, and those are marked (and are more expensive).
The PR speak list you linked to doesn't really give any details. Digging through the product line seems to be the case as far as what they 'tweak'.
AW systems certainly have a lot of power to them and I think they are fine, but there are always ways to get power cheaper than them. Not too mention exactly how much of that power you are going to use (they're 'we're for gamers!' tagline is kinda lame). They are more for the people who don't want to bother to put their own system together and have a lot of cash to blow to do it, usually.
I'm blaming NOA, because if they would release Nintendo's expanded line of Touch! Generation games here, it would encourage third-parties like TDK to do the same.
Also, I'm really tempted to import Ouendan 2. I didn't import Ouendan 1, as I couldn't see playing the game without being able to skip the intros like in EBA.
4 is pointless as pretty much every computer maker on the planet has stopped buiding their own internal hardware (ah, the good ol' days of Compaq-branded motherboard and CPUs soldered to the Packard-Bells) and 10 is numberless exampleless marketting bullshit.

Congrats man! That is a really cute/sweet way to propose -- I'm very happy for you. Not gonna show my girlfriend the pic just in case I want to take the idea later! :lol
Exactly. The entire lynchpin of jimbo's predictions hinges on the PC, since a) The PS3 is performing terribly worldwide, b) the X360 is performing decently in one of the three markets, lousy in another, and is a complete joke in the third c) the Wii is the fastest selling console ever.
Actually no it's not because, because despite your summary, the fact is currently the 360 user base World Wide is GREATER than the Wii's. The PS3 and PC only adds to that.
And you are right the Wii IS the fastest selling console. Key word IS.
You know only ONE year ago the PS3 was guaranteed to have the same type of success as its predecessors, the 360 was forever stuck in 2nd place and the Wii doomed for third.
In one year, everything changed. And there's no guarantee that in ONE year everything won't change again.

When was the last time the fastest, most popular console out there suddenly stopped selling? What would cause such a thing? Let's get your imagination running. What is a likely scenario?
Man, what's Jimbo going to do when Microsoft misses the 12M shipped target? Better yet, what's he going to do when Nintendo takes over the #1 WW spot by October?

World War 3, Nintendo uses its factories to create planes like car manufacturers did in World War 2. Thus, they won't be able to make enough Wii's for people to buy and they fall in to an obscure second place.
Good argument, but you are ignoring the fact that developing a Wii game costs WAY less money than a PS3/360 one, so it is a much smaller risk. A smaller risk negates the need to have that "exit strategy" you are mentioning at all costs. Furthermore, should things in the future go really weird, Wii may outsell both 360 and PS3 combined...
Conclusion: If Wii really sells 100+m and leaves PS3 and 360 way behind, I do think that in the process many developers will change their policy and focus on the production of titles for the Nintendo platform. Why invest 30 million dollars in a Triple A PS3/360 title when with the same money you can produce 10 Triple A games for the leading hardware?
1. If you're talking about Wii Sports vs Mass Effect.....then yes I'm sure there's a HUGE difference in cost. But if you're talking about a game like RE on Wii vs RE on 360.....we really don't know how much of a difference there is.
2. Next Gen games also cost $60. One way to recoup some of the development cost.
3. I disagree with your evaluation of risk. LOWER COST, doesn't necessarily mean LOWER RISK because developers don't go into game development thinking they need to cut as much cost as possible, but rather to get as high a return as possible!
Make that 4 points:
4. I agree with your last part. And that was what I said too. You'll see more Wii support, but not the kind of support everyone's hoping for.

So what's a likely scenario that the PS3 and 360 will somehow best the Wii's current sales? You said that in ONE YEAR everything can change. Gimme some theories that would work in the real world.

A nuclear missile that was accidentally supposed to destroy one of Sony's main manufacturing plants gets it's trajectory knocked off to one of Nintendo's?

I'm thinking...it's likely that if Nintendo produces 18 million consoles this fiscal year, they'll be around 20-24 sold by March 08. They will not only have eclipsed MS, but MS+Sony. All within 18 months. Hee Haw.
As for the discussion on whether or not big projects will be done for the Wii: someone in here is acting as though big projects were never done for the PS2. Did the PS2 not have enough power to handle big projects? How did you like FFX, or FFXII? Were they crippled by the measly power of the Playstation 2?
Well, the Wii has quite a bit more grunt than the PS2 ever did. Sure, the games made for the Wii will never quite reach the visuals of Gears of War, but it's more than capable of producing some excellent big games in the vein of the mainline FF's to date.
Graphics whores have no business playing on consoles anyway. If you want "ZOMG teh grafix!", you really need a PC
