The Christmas holiday season WILL guarantee it. 500,000+ weekly for the last two weeks of December is pretty much expected.
It really is weird how the PS1 had more software sold than the PS2, even though the latter sold more in terms of consoles. I guess some people really wanted extras as DVD players.

Guys there's always a slight increase in sales near teh end of May (+ January and September). I don't know why, some obscure holiday maybe but it has always been like this - it's across the board and you should always expect it.

Since when has 1,000 units being pushed by the PS3 a huge anomoly to be investigated? I would understand all the 'omfg, what made teh ps3 salez grow?!?' if it somehow sold 60,000 from a jump of 8k. But 8k to 9k isn't much considering past spikes of sales when hits came out for it.

Sony has finally learned that in order to beat the non-games, you have to have no games.
In order to compete, Nintendo has pushed back releases of all major Wii titles indefinitely, and Microsoft has actually started pulling consoles from stores. No hardware is even better than no games right?

Just thought I'd chime in with a humorous little anecdote I think GAF will appreciate. In the back of The Videogame Style Guide, a well-intentioned attempt to standardize gaming jargon that includes a wonderfully hypocritical foreword by Dan Hsu, there's a section including up-to-date sales numbers for most major consoles in existence. Their source for numbers for the current systems? VGChartzzzzzzz.

(i know what you mean tho, but i had to say it ) I also guess that alot of the people who already bought a PS3 did it for the BR player, atleast a big part of it. But i do have a CopyNES that allows you to dump the original games over to a computer so i can always buy the original game, then dump it and play the ROM on my PC so it could have been my backup copy But at the moment i dont own the original. Decent start for RE4 Wii, could sell over 100K when all said and done which is okay. IIRC Capcom's forecast was 420K WW.
