That's it! Thanks.

Wow@X360 numbers!

Also, scary how these PS3-numbers seem...rather positive...

So, the last Megaton left there is X360 X PS3 for one week, right?

Yup, they melted down some of the money they've made so far and made the coin colors new colors for the DS.

They need to relase a Nintendo DS Lite (Dollar Bill Green)

In other news, is there any reason why the PSP increased its sales by almost 10,000 units from last week with no notable releases?

Did the price drop go into effect in Japan last week? Maybe the PSP is really settling into third place. It's been there for months in Japan, and it was third for May in the U.S.

BTW, the PSP is now averaging exactly 42,000 sold per week since its launch in 2004.
The DS is at 132,750 per week since its launch.

Funny how we had all those new game launches and yet PSP got the biggest bump. Makes you wonder how it will sell when it gets its first JP price cut...or something else.

Nice to see X360 pick up, Trusty Bell is a wonderful game.

Oh, and it looks like the part two of that horrible Mingol GPS surrogate is coming in August. :I

I was wondering about this, but I didn't want to be a stickler for math. But then Gahiggidy mentioned the same thing. A 100% increase would be double and a 200% increase would be triple.

A 300% increase of 1 isn't 3.

I know that, but I didn't say that.

If I made the message longer: "4 isn't that much bigger than 1", the joke would not have been as funny. to me at least.

Since launch the PSP and the DS have been near the same price level.

The PSP needs a price cut.

Wii comparisons: At 29 weeks, Wii is where GCN was at 118.2 weeks (December 15, 2003), where DS was at 35.1 weeks (July 31, 2005), where PS2 was at 29.3 weeks (September 19, 2000), and where PSP was at 56.4 weeks (January 3, 2006).

Yes, this week Wii surpassed PS2 in that count. Two caveats, though. As always, with a Media Create Wii number and a PS2 Famitsu number, it's a bit apples-to-oranges. More problematic is that Sony sold a few hundred thousand PS2 online early on, which Famitsu number doesn't account for. So while it might look big for Wii by that count, in reality it's got a bit to go until it really catches up to PS2... and it will be hard to recognize that time when it comes.

PS3 comparisons: At 32 weeks, PS3 is where PS2 was at 3.6 weeks, where PSP was at 12.1 weeks, where GCN was at 16.0 weeks, and where Wii was at 5.1 weeks.

You may notice that this week PS3 hits 16.0 weeks in the GCN comparison, which is a bit of a big deal since it was at decimals of 15 for the previous 12 weeks. Well, really it is this week still, but 15.99 rounds up.

PS3 vs Wii: Weekly shares 12.6 / 87.4, bringing total shares to 25.4 / 74.7. At these rates, just 1-2 weeks away from a lifetime 25/75 split. If Wii stopped selling and PS3 continued at this week's rate, it would catch up in 190.5 weeks (February 9, 2011).

PS2 vs DS: At this week's rates DS and PS2 meet up in 27.1 weeks (December 23, 2007) at 20.54 million units apiece. Almost exactly the same result as last week, since DS/PS2 numbers changed so little.

I think that Sony needs to keep making a profit off of it right now because it is selling better than all their other stuff.

Goes both ways really even the DS hasnt had a price cut in japan. not that the DS would suddenly get a huge boost as it sells well enough.

On other topics though it really is just amazing the legs on some of that DS software. NSMB is just phenomenal all the time. Certainly shows that people still love the more classic 2D style mario.

I was simply wondering if anyone here had purchased it and could tell me about it.

PSP 27k
PS2 12k
PS3 9k
360 3.5k
GBA 800

This is the first week of 0 sales for the DS, isn't it? So now we know exactly how many units the DS Lite will eventually sell...um. :lol

Wii - Emerging Trend: 58-70k. Next Gen Avg = 94,311. Post Holiday Avg = 70,437.

mc-LTDs-29.jpg

Results, Analysis, & Expectations
● The 360's sales are insignificant. Great week...but ultimately irrelevant. 3k-5k per week for the foreseeable future.

● The PS3's sales are insignificant. Well that about wraps that up. I think FFXIII and MGS4 are the only things left to salvage this thing. I would actually suggest that such low sales during a supposed "big" game coming out would suggest that their core has complete apathy towards their product, or worse: they either believe a price cut is coming or the product will be replaced shortly. 6-10k per week for the foreseeable future.

● The Wii's sales are showing for the first time a consistent shipment schedule. We should still see some ups and downs but expect the line to hover within +/- 5k of 65k for the summer. Sustained output, sustained demand. Successful fomula. Should continue to hover between 55k-75k for the summer.

Expectations for 06/18 - 06/24
360 - 3.2k**
Wii - 68k**
PS3 - 8.5k*

* = within 1k estimation success the previous week.
** Within 5k estimation success the previous week. :(

Significant Notes:
● The Wii has extended its lead to 1,806,019 over the PS3.
● 82,585 consoles sold this week. Wii had 79% of all console sales, down 6% from the previous week.
● The Wii continues to gain market share. It is not unlikely to see an 80% market share before this war is over.
● The PS3 has sold less than 10k for 6 weeks in a row.

My predictions were nearly spot on for the three next-gen games:

...For its first day of sales Ninja Gaiden Sigma managed to sell 20k copies. With another six days remaining, I'd estimate first week sales of 40-45k for the game.

Surprisingly, Call of Duty 3's debut came in much (and I reiterate: much!) better than expected. With 8k copies sold on the first day, my prediction for COD3 is 15-17k in debut sales. The big news is that the newest Eternal Sonata game, Trusty Bell, went on to sell an astonishing 30k copies for its debut day. I'm pegging the X360 title to hit 50-55k copies for its debut week.

=D

You're kidding, right? I predict lines and massive sales. I bet it'll come close to 300k.

And, yes, his number does seem a little high. Unless each color gets a 150k shipment, then it's too low.
