hmm, what's wrong with this statement?
Probably thought the Wii was the Wii U.

Amazing if only I could read Japanese
Its crazy how some of the games sold on ps1. I mean parasite eve a million seller crazy.
Well, they released two games already for the PS3, Minna 4 and 5 (even though this was a vita port).
Clap Hanz isn't a huge team, and they were throwing PSP pretty strong support simultaneously. Looking at it as PS2 vs PS3 isn't really the whole picture, it's really PS2 vs PSP+PS3.Does anyone actually know what happened with Clap Handz and its terrible PS3 support?
Why did Sony/Clap Handz not release more Golf games or any Tennis/other sports games for the PS3?
I dont get it
You are right. Made a mistake here. My bad.Uh, I believe its 5 and 6.
The Japanese sales landscape for games has totally changed after the PS2 generation. I think just looking at the overview of how many titles are selling extremely well on the platforms over the years shows the changes in the industry as well as the flow consumer interest from consoles to portables. Look at this:
Consoles:
FC - 42 >million titles (incomplete data)
SFC - 29 >million titles (incomplete data)
PS - 70 >500k titles including 18 >million titles

PS2 - 70 >500k titles including 17 >million titles
GC - 10 >500k titles including 1 >million title
PS3 - 13 >500k titles including 1 >million title

Again? What do you mean! :lol
Game & Wario
All I can see here is the overall market shrinking, affecting handhelds less than home console on the rise of lower budget games that sell above 500k, or low profit projects.
And reinforcing the assumption that Wii/DS success came out of left field for the industry. It was an amazing thing that will probably never be repeated.
Damn!NDS - 67 >500k titles including 35 >million titles
I think the dramatic shift post-PS2 is a bit too drastic to simply write it off as overall market shrinking though. For portable sales to got from 18 >500k titles in one generation to 82 >500k titles in the next is a huge change. I think it has a lot to do with portable technology catching up to the point where a sizable audience decided that it was good enough for them to skip out on console titles. The lower cost of the games (to consumers, but also as a result of lower development costs as you said) also helped them make that switch as console game prices steadily increased with each generation.
So Muramasa on Vita managed to sell in one week what it sold in its entire lifetime on Wii.
Guess Vita is a lost cause!
lol, not too far from reality.
I wonder if its sell-through is closer to 20% rather than 40%.
Holy shit.Muramasa, a super niche title on the Vita, outsold both new WiiU releases - a Dragon Quest game and a Wario game! Omg! (lol)

Vita still strong.

No one expected Vita to fall sub 10k this week.
Gee guys you're wasting discussion on this thread??
Muramasma did near 90k on Wii iirc, though that included the budget reprint. So Muramasa on Vita managed to sell in one week what it sold in its entire lifetime on Wii.

I think DQX failed because 1. it's on Wii and 2. People just might have liked it that much, maybe bad word of mouth? What IS the general thought on the game in Japan? I mean it's the largest departure in the series, the game would've done EONS better period if it was like DQ8.
Countdown to "wait til next week!" posts, and the fourth week in a row of utter surprise for certain people.
No one expected Vita to fall sub 10k this week. No one is expecting it for next week. Near future though? Wouldn't be shocked.

I want to see Luigi's Mansion sales!
