Nevermind, I goofed.
Nothing against Joe because he provides me with giggles galore, but, the idea that you should respect someone for running a Pokemon website is absolutely fucking hilarious to me.I think he deserves some respect.
You do know that Joe formed and runs a certain website that I think a sizable crowd knows right?
I think he deserves some respect.
I've been to that site for more than a decade, I highly respect him, I just feel that people shouldn't diss him.

That post (if serious) was pure garbage. It doesn't matter what you do. Just look at dyack situation
This too
People who say 2 days don't realize how front loaded games are, but saying its sales are mediocre is a farcry.
Everyone whose saying 2 days of sales in response to the Pikmin sales what are your predictions for next week?
Pikmin sales aren't bad, thay are mediocre, but far from "very good".
20k is good sales for an average week for a system, not one which had Pikmin, a new bundle and NSLU after a long drought of games.
It was serious. I just feel that since Serebii is one of the top Pokemon websites that I know of (alongside Pokebeach, Bulbagarden, etc), people should be more constructive in what they say to him, he's not just some guy.
Almost said he wasn't an average Joe...
Excuse me for trying to defend a guy that I feel deserves to be defended. I do like helping people, not make fun of them.

I can admit he makes some... different reasonings..
But he runs a Pokemon website, it's a little fair to expect a little bias isn't it
Serebii's a great site, but Joe's talked utter bollocks in this thread.
Theory:
Next week is the beginning of summer vacation for Japanese schools so they have a lot of tests this week. Parents knowing how addictive a new WiiU and Pikmin would be, purposely avoided buying it to ensure that their children could go to college.
Next week, with summer in full swing I expect WiiU at 50k (unless it's hot).
I hope pikmin does better in the west. Fucking wiiu better not kill this series. Now I dred to see 101's sales. Poor platinum.
150k minimum.

Yep. I used to go to Serebii all of the time. I don't care if he runs that site, that post deserves a tag. Preferably one that is Pokemon related and involves the use of the move Heat Wave. You do know that Joe formed and runs a certain website that I think a sizable crowd knows right?
I think he deserves some respect.

re: Wii U price cut. I can see them cutting the price for 50, but not 100 or more, not at all. Why? Because it'd create the belief that their products should never be bought at launch, since you just have to wait for picking it up at the "real price". After what they did with 3DS, another giant cut would maybe solve some Wii U problems in the short run, but it'd be poisonous for their next platforms when they launch. Unless their next launch will be so amazing that no one will care about the other cuts...but it's too risky.

Except they already created this precedent you're talking about by doing it with the 3DS. People already joke about expecting their Wii U Ambassador games and the like.
To stick with your point really the damage has already been done. People buy a console on day one usually on a leap of faith, that quality content is coming in the near future. Both the 3DS and the Wii U had disastrous first years so it'd make sense for people on the fence for the next handheld/console (honestly who knows which one comes first) to be more hesitant.
Sorry man, but if the CEO of Boeing or even the President says something incredibly stupid, people are allowed to laugh at him. The owner of Serebii.net isn't immune somehow.
It was also really hot to the level of heat wave in Japan last week, and it came out in a holiday weekend where people were not in the streets. Even the Pokémon Centers were fairly empty and that seldom happens.
This has an effect on sales. I'm not saying this to spin but as an explanation. You need to factor in all the factors in order to make a determination.
I know, I even said so a few posts back, I guess I forgot honestly. lol
I'm not feeling that well at the moment, might be why I wasn't thinking clearly.
Again, I'm sorry, I was reacted and I regret it.
Don't regret it too much, you obviously had good intentions.I know, I even said so a few posts back, I guess I forgot honestly. lol

well.. to be fair its not a pokemon website. its THE Pokemon website

Someone call the Queen, we've got some knighthood potential here.
Smoky?
That post from Joe deserves a tag. Never have I seen a more ridiculous reason for hardware not selling.
Even higher?!
Is such a thing even possible?!

Missed one thing. Massive price drop is right, but also a steady stream of consistent exclusives which you probably implied but also a brand new marketing campaign. Sony completely revamped on that front with the "it only does everything", really got the message across. The only thing that could "save" the Wii U at this point is what "saved" the PS3: a massive price drop and a willingness on Nintendo's part to bleed enormous amounts of money.
If Nintendo is willing to drop the price of the Wii U to 150 bucks and lose 5+ Billion dollars on the Wii U as Sony did on the PS3, I can see that having a dramatic effect on sales.
Barring that extremely unlikely scenario, I don't see any method for the Wii U to be any more than a marginal, niche product.
Famitsu Sales: Week 28, 2013 (Jul 08 - Jul 14)
It's probably the heatwave.. Don't worry about it.
Yeah, thanks!Thanks for Famitsu numbers!
I'm not sure a price drop will boost sales unless people actually find value in the product; retailers in the UK have already slashed £100 off the price and the sales haven't gotten any better.Missed one thing. Massive price drop is right, but also a steady stream of consistent exclusives which you probably implied but also a brand new marketing campaign. But yeah I completely agree with everything you said, I think their BEST CASE SCENARIO doesn't even look that good.
