I wonder if Splatoon 2 could be this gen's Monster Hunter, in terms of growth and evolution. It is booming thanks to the addition of local play, being on a portable system and I think we'll see many kids play it outside with their friends.

Did anyone mention that Pokken Tournement Deluxe has entered the COMG charts already?? I think it'll do better than the original(plus I think fighting games have done decently on Switch in Japan).

Yeah it showed up to take Splatoon 2's place.oh, cool.
Wonder if anyone will do comg comparisons between that the the Wii U one.

It has 10 preorders with 62 days until release so hopefully it does well(I think it will since it's a Pokémon fighting game that didn't get stuck on a dead console).
Pokemon Go bump didn't really work in Japan like it did in the rest of the world.and it came out before pkmn go

More single player levels cause the ones in the campaign are ace.Definitely sounds like it so far.
I think that Salmon Run was the perfect addition for the portable mode more than the online one (which also makes sense). Really wondering what will be the next updates for the game (outside of maps/weapons I mean).

I'm surprised, unlike MH, we haven't seen more imitators. Is it because the series is so unique that any copycat would be immediately criticized as such?

I feel that this in another case of when Nintendo enters into reinventing a genre any attempts made by other companies to build off of the new formula get instantly seen as a knockoff. We've seen it with Mario, Mario Kart, Pokemon, Smash Bros, and I imagine that if anyone gets close to making a game similar to Splatoon it will be viewed this way as well.
PlayStation All Stars Paintball Royale."lighthearted territory-control third-person shooter" could probably accommodate a little wiggle room for imitators that aren't outright plagiarists.

I wonder how long it will take Switch to catch up to Wii U completely...3DS is the comparison point I think we usually think about with good reason--3DS was an actual success, 3DS is/was the market leader, Switch is its successor as a Nintendo portable--but talk of Splatoon sales makes me wonder how much a potentially much larger install base will help Splatoon 2.
It does come at the start of Switch, when that install base is small, so it is a question of how quickly Switch can grow and how good Splatoon 2's legs are.
Lotteries at Sunday is something not normal for Switch. Amazon got multiple restocks this week too.

Excuse me?
Pretty sure he is referring to Splatoon 1.
He's referring to the first title.
Well, not at the same level of surpassing the hardware sales but Zelda at launch actually did manage to achieve over 100% attach rate...You think Splatoon 2 will debut with 1.5m+ when the Switch has only sold around 1.2m?

Sinobi blog is saying that when pre-orders of Dragon Quest XI opened back in April, he predicted 2.3M for the 3DS version, and 1.2M for the PS4 version LTD (3.5M in total between both versions).
However, looking at the current status of pre-orders that seems unlikely.
Some reasons might be people satisfied with the smartphone version of DQ of the Stars. But he notes that there is also a considerable number of people waiting for news of the Switch version.

That's not how it works, though. Manufacturing doesn't stop and start again based on calendar months. It's continuous, so any 4-week period has the same limits as "July" or "August". A sequence of weeks at 200k/75k/75k/50k in Japan alone is not plausible, whether they're spread out over two calendar months or not.Liabe Brave: I'm saying they need to sell 330k for all of July and 225k for August to be able to reach that goal....
