Switch didn't drop as much as I expected for September. Good. Now to see how long it lasts.

EMD2 and Nights of Azure 2 are downright terrible, though.

Switch being above 50K is good.

Switch Azure actually sold closer to Vita than I thought, still a huge bomba all round. I expect Azure WW sales for Switch to be somewhat closer to the PS4 version (?)

Nights of Azure bombing everywhere should be a wake up call for Gust to stop making trash games

The original game was just mediocre all around

What on earth has happened to Gust lately? Has the small otaku fanbase they pandered to completely abandoned them?

They seemed to be going from strength to strength in 2015 with Atelier Sophie selling well; Nights of Azure opening to amazing numbers etc. Then in the past 12 months they've had Atelier Firis launch with a load of bugs and bomb; Blue Reflection bomb and now seemingly NoA2 bomb as well.

I'm not surprised that the Vita version sold as it did because after NoA1, I can't blame any fans for skipping it. But PS4 version collapsed too; and Switch did nothing. For comparison:

Nights of Azure 2, its less that no one wanted on Switch but rather no one wanted the damn game at all no matter the platform. If memory serves right, that's a pretty big drop between Etrian Dungeon 1's first week and EMD2's first week.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Everybodys Golf did quite well...good to see.
ARMS also chugging along - nice.

Think fans are sick of Etrian Odyssey games on 3DS? Because this is the SEVENTH game on the thing (if you include Persona Q) with two more on the way (PQ2 and the new EO game).

I've not seen such horrendous high quantity of an IP on the system that's not legit shovelware and even that's being given a run for its money. Atlus. STAHP! Move on!

Mildly surprised at Switch hardware being at a decent number.

Actually surprised (lol) Nights of Azure 2 on Switch did more than 2k sales because I thought it would have done worse than what that One Piece game did when it released on Switch recently.

Wait, I mean it did much worse, surprised it did more than half of One Piece for Switch.

Good number for Minna no Golf, considering consumer behaviour on PS4. Nothing great in comparison with historical figures on the series.
Etrian Mystery Dungeon 2 sales are as expected.
Better results than expected for the Switch version of NOA2. Overall sales are very disappointing.

Didn't notice Splatoon 2 crossed the million seller barrier, nice.

Last year we only had 2, so nice to see it come to 3 this year, hopefully Mario Kart can join them too.

Maybe Atlus will take a hint for the next generation transition with all these late life 3DS bombs.

EMD should have been a cute novelty, a one off thing. There's just way too much Etrian Odyssey on the system (not that I'm complaining but market saturation).

I doubt these would have done better anywhere else though. These are all projects no one asked for. Having said that, I will be mad when Deep Strange Journey bombs.

Really nice for everybody's golf, decent stock for Switch, good gap between versions for NoA2 (even if sales are low).

Nights of Azure 2 bombed. I was all in for the first one, and there were decent ideas in there, but it was just a boring, low budget product.

Everybody's Golf out of nowhere with big sales.

Gust has to sit down and think hard about future decisions with NoA2 bombing so hard on Switch.

50k for Switch shipments as a baseline in September would definitely be a good sign for increased production, especially since there aren't too many notable releases this month. Hopefully it doesn't go down further next week.

It is becoming increasingly obvious that the Switch isn't a 3DS (or DS) successor in Japan, at least based on how third party games are selling. Only Super Bomberman R, Monster Hunter XX and Ultra Street Fighter II have broken 100k sales - correct me if I'm wrong.

It feels like another PS4 really, which also had a slow start and initially saw its games sell worse than the PS3 or Vita versions. This extends to how software is selling much more globally - like how Disgaea 5 Complete is almost at 200k, with just 30k units being from Japan.

I guess it might be harsh to judge Switch on games like Nights of Azure 2 and Fate/Extella and Disgaea 5 - which are series that were absent on 3DS and Wii U. I'm really just pointing towards the relative difference in third party software sales across regions.

As for New Everybody's Golf, I wouldn't be surprised if those sales are partly down to the mobile app, which must have been made to drive brand awareness. That's a success, then.

And it's not like there are any other relevant third party games that have released.
