Thats lineup ain't that bad. Probably give it the edge over the WiiU's due to the amount of releases week after week which is what consoles need.

Not too shabby.
Ive read a few remarks in other threads how the Wii U is getting "good word of mouth", which, as i anticipated is nothing more than manufactured hope packaged and presented as facts.
People really seem to forget how Vita has been working the past year and a half if they really think that there is going to be some huge sustainable bump for the rest of the year.
People also seem to be forgetting God Eater 2 has a PSP version and and while it likely won't outsell the Vita version will take a large chunk of potential sales.
Well the WiiU did okay recently in Europe and US. Japan still doesn't care though.
Vita software sales are pretty good and its only going to get better, who knows a big hit like GE2 could really set things off.
In Japan, the PSP's success is still holding the Vita back. Consumers and developers have been reluctant to move on to Vita. I think that might slowly change though next year.Is the perspective that the Vita doesn't sell as well as the PSP or that handhelds in general don't sell as well as they used to? Because i think we already knew both of those things.

When did it do ok in either of those regions?
Only RELATIVELY. Okay is still not great.

We don't know yet for US, but we know it got better in the UK. It doesn't mean much, but when you're that bad, even a couple of sales are good. When did it do ok in either of those regions?
More the like the 3DS's dominance and mobile takeover is holding Vita back. The PSP has essentially been dead hardware wise this year. People are just choosing other options.
Hardware sales are, yes. But PSP still gets lots of software releases, so people may not yet see a reason to upgrade. Once the software is Vita only rather than PSP version only or PSP/Vita, things might improve.
Wowww @ the Vita rise. As soon as the Pokemon craze stops in a couple of weeks, Vita will take over.
Only RELATIVELY. Okay is still not great.

I think it's because of pretty much a lack of interest in the system full stop.Wii U is really low, but I'd like to think that is due to anticipation of those bundles at the end of the month.
Sometimes we must set a barrier for these "pretty good" Vita software sales. MH4 will sell more than entire Vita software this year.
How much software do you think PSP has sold this year and what's the last big announcement it got?
Thread has list wars already. With Vita-Fifa on top. Thread went gold pretty fast XD

That seems like a fairly odd way of looking at things. I think people take a slightly more relative view of things when they describe sales as 'good'.Sometimes we must set a barrier for these "pretty good" Vita software sales. MH4 will sell more than entire Vita software this year.
I don't have the specifics on hand, but the PSP frequently has had more software titles in the top 20/50 than the Vita or WiiU.
Playing with numbers a bit, saying if the WiiU sold 3500 a week in Europe, 685% would skyrocket sales to a modest 27.5K the next week. If it was 5000 a week, it would be 39250. Judging from what I remember, sales fell to a couple thousand shortly after launch, but I don't have the figures. Any estimates on Wii U weeklies in Europe? I know we used to get GFK/ChartTrack but did interest fade?
Why would MH4 influence whether the sales of any other title are "pretty good"? I'd say a game's sales are "pretty good" if it made a profit.Sometimes we must set a barrier for these "pretty good" Vita software sales. MH4 will sell more than entire Vita software this year.

Define "huge".
I'm thinking more along the lines of selling at least 10K than 5K.

How is Wii u doing in comparison to Dreamcast?
I haven't seen Nintendo perform this bad in my lifetime. They must be ashamed in Japan.

I think when people say Vita software sales have been 'pretty good' they mean it relative to how the hardware is/was selling. Obviously having no title cross 500k in Japan means that Vita software sales are nowhere near good. They are satisfactory for those niche publishers that are on the Vita though, and they don't need 500k+ sales. That in itself creates a problem of not providing a hardware bumb. How much software do you think PSP has sold this year and what's the last big announcement it got?
Nah, it'll be up and down since Gundman has a bundle. We'll see a steady decline in hardware until November, but I think it could maintain 15k.
It is hard for me to find any actual numbers from reputable sites. Most places don't have specifics. I think you are underestimating the sales a bit though for Europe.
The Article From Your Link said:Hence, it was sad times throughout many months as the Wii U heaved and puffed its way to moving just under 200,000 SKUs a month.
According to a breakdown of financial numbers from GameIndustry.biz, the Wii U moved 90,000 SKUs in Japan, 60,000 SKUs in the U.S., and a paltry 10,000 SKUs in both Europe and Australia.
Nintendo's Wii U console sold only 160,000 units worldwide during the past three months, with the company blaming a lack of first-party releases for the poor performance. Software sales for the system were just 1.3 million units.
During the period Nintendo sold 90,000 Wii U consoles in Japan, 60,000 in the US and only 10,000 in Europe and Australia.
That's kind of the way it's always been here. Fanboyism influences discussion here far too much so you have to be careful how you interpret things like that.I might be being an asshole, but the posts in the last MC thread (Noone in Vita line, none moving at that one store, Amazon musings, etc) had me thinking the Vita would've done far less.
Same price but new one doesn't force you to buy memory card so you save few thousands Yens.

*sorry for OT Euro sales talk. I might be wrong*
Hmm. The link you posted answered my question. I didn't underestimate at all. I overestimated.
Clicking that links you to
And according to those numbers released from Nintendo
Lets say 3-month sales doubled next quarter in Europe due to Pikmin. 20K/3 months = 6.7K/month. Divided by 4 weeks gives you 1.7K. 4.5 weeks nets you less than 1.5K average over the 3 months.
Or even lets triple it for shits and giggles. It'll be between 2.2K and 2.5K.
So theoretically if the Wii U did a bit over triple its sales, it could've reached about 20K for the week of Zelda where its sales exploded by 685%.
PSP will be down 3,5m at software this year, Vita will take only 1,5m of these. Next year PSP will be entirelly dead, when is this jump gonna happen?
These are official shipment figures from Nintendo. I.e. extrapolating (retail) sales from these is pretty much impossible (for the short term). We know that Nintendo overshipped, so it's pretty likely (to say the least) that they actually sold through more than they shipped in that quarter.
Wii U numbers make me sad, but the Vita bump makes me hopeful that it can reach its potential as the super Japan machine it always had the capability to be.
