For how many weeks now is PS4 at #1 HW spot?
I think it's been 6 weeks if you're talking about Media Create numbers only.

You are jumping down that guys throat for no reason. Nintendo's sales in Japan will be poor next year, it doesn't matter if the 3DS has a few good selling software titles, overall software and hardware will decline and its going to be lean times for Nintendo until their next platform(s).It did imply that Nintendo should be worried about an expected and quite obvious decline in 3DS hw sales: "2016 can be quite long for Nintendo until NX.". In fact, Nintendo 3DS already has 4 to 6 million sellers next year, and a way better line-up in the first half of the year with respect to 2015.

This is a problem for the whole dead console industry in Japan though and its increasing irrelevance.
My initial message didn't imply anything except quite sharply declining YOY sales from 2014 over 2015 to 2016.
Only that the 3DS pattern doesn't match your examples. NDS had a 4 million baseline after from 07 to 09 and only shrunk to 3,7 million in 2010, while the 3DS is declining significantly for two years now.
While the Wii then hit the point of saturation in 2011 and only sold like the 1/2 of 2010.
Yokai spinoff liable to do 2 million. That'd be something
Splatoon is tooning. Minecraft is crafting.
Triforce heroes still going down. It was likely cheap to make, but still.

Nintendo's 3DS declining is pretty natural at this point in the cycle. This is normally past the point of time where they make more money on software than hardware to begin with, so I don't really see the issue in the 3DS declining by its lonesome. The rest is an issue mostly because of the 3DS's and Wii U's worldwide performance imo.
Sure, but thats not really relevant to the conversation they were having which was a general comment about a slow year for Nintendo that got a defensive "well 3DS has some good selling software left yo so not really" which doesn't actually counter the point.
If anything launch of a new system probably will bring the financial results down for the next year. Launching new hardware is expensive (with few exceptions like Wii that started to print money right after the launch).I agree this year is a pretty slow year. Considering next year has a good # of 3rd party software sellers in Japan, mobile games starting (5 before early 2017 = some of the others have to release next year), launch of new account system, and possible launch of NX, it's possible that next year is actually better financially than this year. We'll see though.

So for Wii U, for the rest of the year we've got:
Next week
11/9-11/15:
11/12 - Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition (are we expecting this to flop like the previous Disney Infinity v1 that was released in Japan?)
11/12 - Art Academy: Home Studio
11/12 - Splatoon (Premium Set)
So, what's your opinion about Minecraft apparently finally coming to WiiU (for the japanese market obviously)?
Could it still get as good numbers as on Vita, and is there overlap with the Splatoon audience? Or is that just something that won't really do anything apart from the first week?

And it has some serious FPS issues too, which would make certain people on GAF keel over and die. It's a really fun game though and I think it deserves those sales.Yokai spinoff liable to do 2 million. That'd be something
Japan is probably the only reason why they are porting it to Wii U.
I hope Nintendo is the publisher.
It's okay guys, I'm sure WiiU will win at least one more week in hardware sales before it completely dies out. No need to get upset over PS4 beasting.By today's standards

Tuesday 3rd of November was a national holiday (yeah again, Japan loves Holiday days), that's why a few games increased this week.
We're not still in Christmas Holidays season, next week most of the games will drop (except Wii U because it has the Splatoon bundle).
Christmas season starts later than the west in Japan, from the 23rd of November we can expect games to rise.
____
About Call of Duty decent debut but not fantastic. It just sold a little better than last year's entry. But this year there's no Dubbed version, so this year it needs to have better legs than past years. We'll see how performs during holiday season.

REALLY surprised by the sheer longevity of Splatoon, to be honest. Still at top 10 after all this time, especially it's an exclusive game to a dying console? Amazing performance.
PS4 beats death for another week, not bad for a dead portion of the gaming market.
Wii U rises due to mini-holiday period, should go up next week due to Squidtoon bundle.
Call o' Duty doing decently.
Disney Magic Castle 2 should sell through its shipment thanks to the holidays approaching. Not sure if Chibi-Robo!! would benefit much from the holiday sales season....
Hmm....numbers don't make sense here for Dengeki considering PS4 has a higher percentage than 3DS.
Has there ever been another title that a managed to stay in the top 10 half a year after release?

i want to say the first and second brain training games had some serious staying power. the first one was one of last gen's biggest sleeper hits.

Noticed something while looking at HW sales.
Basically, most of the increase in sales for the 3DS comes from the New 3DS. Looks like the Disney Magic Castle 2 bundle did sell quite a bit in the end.
@hiska-kun: no pic for Art Academy Atelier?

Wii U has sold far more units (roughly double) in the Americas than Japan as per Nintendo, and Minecraft's retail edition is a consistent top 10 NPD game in the US, a larger market. Minecraft Wii U makes even more sense for the North American market than Japan.
Wii U is irrelevant in the US and most Americans have already bought Minecraft elsewhere.
Minecraft Vita is selling well in Japan but it could have sold a lot more if the system was more attractive to kids. That's where Wii U comes in, especially now with Splatoon getting a lot of love from that demographic.
3DS software sales will be poor next year?
I don't think you know what's coming out for 3DS next year comparing to this.
He didn't say they would be poor but lower than this year. Are you predicting an increase in sales?
So what do folks think will sell more? Just Dance: Youkai Watch or Minecraft Wii U (if it gets a retail release in JP)?
I took it. Just I didn't upload it.
Here you have.
