They released a single game in the entire year, right? A game that wasn't Legend of Heroes? That's not surprising.

I agree honestly. I think TP HD is not very smart considering the # of titles they've released recently.

I think Zelda actually has good reason to be used as it is because it's a multi-tone franchise as opposed to Mario, while diverse in game types, has a general one-tone safe presentation (except Strikers). For games that fit loosely into the Zelda archetype but don't have enough identity to be their own can call from multiple tones within the franchise. Mario is a blank blanket franchise that's safe to slap on just about anything for wide appeal, Zelda isn't quite the same even if it is a strong IP. The games with Zelda usually tend to be Zelda games, just weird ones.

Now, potentially, two releases per year is a bit much but usually the spin-offs aren't targeting the whole Zelda fanbase. Take for example, Triforce Heroes. That's really a game aimed at the fans of the light hearted, self-referential/joking/expressive toned Zeldas. Majora's Mask is on the completely opposite end of the spectrum (and scale). Every half decade you get a major release that *every fan* picks up.

The spin-offs are usually so far from each other (in mechanics, tone, or what have you) or the base games that it also isn't running into the same fatigue issues. Over exposure becomes a bigger concern in that case than the problems gripping AC or CoD or other annualizations.

It´s for their recently ended fiscal year (2014.10.1-2015.09.30) according to this summary click. They suffered a sharp decline and according to their forecast they also expect to remain flat in the recently started new fiscal year.

Good to see that Falcom is bringing in profits. Seems that they are happy with Tokyo Xanadu, that is nice :) They also have plans on supporting PS4.

Looks like the new Puzzle & Dragons game for the 3DS is indeed a sequel to Puzzle & Dragons Z (or at least, it's in the same vein).

It's called Puzzle & Dragons X, out next year (most likely for Golden Week).

To follow up on a discussion from an early October Media Create thread about Fallout 4 versus Skyrim:

Fallout 4 has shipped 12 million on launch day compared to 7 million for Skyrim.

We'll see if it can generate a good bump in Japan as well, though the platform situation is much more difficult there.

Yes, I know it's brilliant. I know it's shipped rather than sales but it's looking really good. Do you think it will push past Skyrim in the end? I prefer Fallout's setting to Skyrim (didn't even buy the latter) but didn't think it was going to do this well. It's really come a long way since the days of Fallout 1/2.

I think it's a safe bet. France is by far the biggest OP market in Europe and it's not especially popular in the UK (and the PAL charts reflected that). Unless you consider "PlayStation ecosystem" a singular platform then Steam most likely took the top spot outside Japan.

Going by PAL charts One Piece is also strong in Germany at least. OPPW3 took the second position during its launch week behind Until Dawn. So when you have already 15k from US, more than 15k from France and decent amount from Germany I have hard time to believe that the current western LTD for PS4 version is under 50k.

Edit. Also second place in italy during launch week (behind Until Dawn).

The Battle Cats has now outsold Super Mario Bros. on the eShop as the 6th best selling game ever. I'd hazard a guess at 250K+

A second place in Italy at the end of August might mean something like 1000 units.

classic sorine, underestimating the hell out of European sales

Not sure those have been mentioned before but... Those will come out on December 3rd in Japan:

- Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer + Animal Crossing: New Leaf (7 560 Yen)
- Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam Bros. + Mario Kart 7 (7 560 Yen) [includes 4 sets of stickers on Amazon.co.jp]

Also, Pokkén Tournament will get a Wii U bundle, no price yet.

Hm, are we expecting Paper Jam to do better than Dream Team? It's the second game on the same console...which could hurt.

But, it's not coming a few months after another rpg (sticker star), and it's releasing near Christmas. So maybe it could do better.

And what are general expectations for Pokken? I don't even know what to predict for that game. I'll say FW ~100, LTD < 250.

Pokken getting a wii u bundle?
ii U going to better in 2016 then 2014... :p
Speaking of bundles, do we have any hint at how the Splatoon bundle is doing?

If Minecraft wants to be a multimillion seller this gen in Japan, it definitely "needs" 3DS.

Which means it needs 3DS if it wants to do something it doesn't need to do.

When a product has maintained such insane worldwide popularity on so many platforms for so long, maintaining a high level of quality with the subsequent releases is most important. The 3DS is not powerful enough for a great version of Minecraft up to 2015 standards, so I see very little reason to port Minecraft to 3DS now when they can wait a few months and do a great NX version that would probably be superior to the other portable versions. They don't care whether Minecraft is a multimillion seller "this gen." Next gen will most likely start within the next 12 months.

Not as hot as expected. I selling well on terms of what it had to sell, but yesterday again PS4 sold a little more. 18k is at least what it could sell, imo.
Thats not good.
This is what happens when Nintendo thinks they should raise the price of wii u every year for no reason.

15k NPD wasn't the PS4 version, it was PS4 + PS3 + Vita combined. Like I mentioned PS ecosystem may very well be over 50k, but no single version probably is. I'm presuming France's 40k is also all versions, both PS4 and PS3 version charted in the top 5.

OPPW3 also charted high in Belgium (evidently One Piece is HUGE there) and Italy. It didn't chart anywhere else though (Spain, Greece, Scandinavian nations, etc) and it flopped in the UK. I think it's naive to claim this game was "saved" by Europe given how it charted, and the American failure doesn't bode well for overall western sales.

This also roughly corresponds to the markets for anime in Europe. France is the single biggest non-Asian market, Italy has a healthy market, and Germany is alright, with most of the rest of the countries not having nearly as healthy a presence, so those sales patterns aren't much of a surprise.

Well... that's surprising. Oh well :/.

Data I refered to is about Rakuten Books Daily, of course. And that decrease of yesterday, in part was due to an incredible amount of pre-orders. The point is that after that good first day the bundle seems only to do ok. Tomorrow that I will have the weekly stuff, I will bring more details about it.

Wasn't rakuten the retailer that had Lego selling better on Sony platforms last week?
