Did the PC and Xbox versions not come out in Japan?
They did, my bad on the Xbox. I just looked at the sales list instead of the release list -- we have no info on the Xbox version sales it seems. (I knew it had come out for the PC but it's not a console. =P)

Sony needs and IWATA and Reggie combo of speakers I thought they had these guys last gen but it seem they faded from the spotlight :(

They really needed to put a face with those presentation videos on a real stream that was just sad. I wanted a reason to get a Vita I am saving up for an iPad with 4g so my cash is limited at the moment and with WiiU coming I have a lot to spend on this year :(

This "event" must have hurt more than it helped. In the end they told the gaming public that, if they haven´t already, there is no compelling reason to run out and buy a Vita until June the earliest, if ever.
And aside from the gaming public, if I´m a third party and saw this, why would I go to that platform, no one else does either.

I've actually known for PSO2 for a few days now. I've also been told (by someone who didn't tell me about PSO) that PSVictory was a joke name. Now, I do not know if that means it was a joke game.
So tell me, is Project Diva 3 a PS3 game like I suspect?

I have no clue about the Miku stuff. That little bit of Phantasy Star is all the SEGA I know right now.

If you notice some of my posts from the last few days in the other threads you'll see a concentrated effort on my part to hint about PSO2 on Vita, haha. I didn't want to say anything that could be wrong (since I didn't know with 100% certainty it would be announced) or get anyone in trouble so I didn't come out about it publicly.

Taking this seriously for a moment, I think we *can* say that Nintendo gets *talking to their fans* better than Sony.

the point is that nintendo has big personalities they can rely on to speak to their fans...

when you get a postbox message from reggie you think "cool"... the same is for iwata... i don't know if SCEJ has someone like them... SCE had Kevin Butler, but i can't think of anyone else...

also using postbox for you announcements is pure genius because they feel much more personal...

and let's not forget about the Robin Williams commercials...

sony has more a "corporate" feeling, while nintendo feels much more like a family business to the general public...

imho of course.

I think Letter Box (as it is over here) is by some margin the cleverest thing Nintendo's done in a very long time. It's a chance to impart information, it's a chance to use your customers to promote new titles, and it's caught people's imaginations like Twitter did.

I expect it to be available on WiiU, and I'd like to see an expansion of it more similar to Twitter allowing you to broadcast to the world without having to swap friend codes.

Not necessarily to you: But Nintendo has had that for literally a decade, and it didn't help them before. They are tapping into it a lot now that their systems are popular, but it's not necessarily a resource that saves systems. Back when the Wii was faltering a little bit in 2008, Nintendo was dead quiet. Back when the Gamecube was spinning fruitlessly, it was just more of the same PR.

At least this limp attempt at a webcast indicates that there isn't anything for Vita and we can stop talking about silver bullets until 2013. It's nice to be able to talk without speculation. It's not nice to see that the Vita doesn't have much coming for it.

I bet there's going to be a few "there sure is a lot of people gleefully talking about the failure of the Vita in here!" posts in a few pages. Of course, ignoring the actual reality of the situation, which is depressing, but we push on anyway because we're troopers.

i totally agree with you, my point was that sony has to find their way to talk to their fans... today broadcast it's a clear signal that they don't have any clue about how to do that...

Reworded and clarified too late. Darn.

agree with you, but i expect it to become a system feature, even on 3DS with a system update.

Turning around SCE from the money bleeding near write off to a profitable division that's no(t?) clouded up by mobile and PC.

Okay, I'll buy that, and if he's responsible for the off-the-shelf hardware direction for Vita and presumably PS4, then that does deserve credit. The whole thing seems like a bit of a house of cards though, given vita's market position and the dubious ability of SCE's first-party studios to nurture a console.

It really should be built into the OS. I haven't used it in months because it's a separate application that forces me to close games and other things.

It would be much better if intergrated into the OS.
but I have to say that I spent more that 30 hours in it, and judging from the amount of letters I receive and from the official statment spread by Nintendo it's quite successfull.

Yeah I think sub 10k is confirmed in Japan after what we saw this morning. Vita is going to be limping for a long time, nothing announced seems to be a mover and shaker for the system in Japan or anywhere else.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
No retailer reports this time? There were some pretty interesting games to watch this week :p

Who needs retailers reports, we must focus to the real fight that is coming: Wii Vs. Vita

Wii still has a chance this year.

Who cares about this fight, I want to have a good summary of retailer reports about what happened in Japan on the first day. Especially because I want to see MGS 3D doing not good!

Dat fight...

Yep. The next logical "goal" for Vita is sub 5k by the end of April.

Surely sub 5K is simply not possible?

After the inevitable pricecut, a series of 5K per week would be catastrofic

The fact that someone can even ask that question without sounding like a complete lunatic puts the whole Vita situation into perspective.

True the mere fact that we are even seriously considering the possibility is really bad!

March will be tough.

It will be, so will every month till May/June really.

I just wonder if statistically demand can go so low that the 5K threshold is breached...is that near early Xbox 360 level sales?

yeah I would vote with you on this

All of March and April will be brutal, without question. The Vita likely will continue to drop in sales until Golden Week, and even then I'm not sure how much that will help.

Vita needs games, badly, and the only relevant releases are Persona and Gundam, both set for June.

Vita doesnt even have any games that'll sell more than 5 copies releasing near golden week, it'll get the most oathetic golden week bump of any console in history

5,6,7,8 or 9k, it makes little difference. The phychological bar in these threads is 10k. Below 5k so early is very unusual but we'll have to see how much the lack of announcements will hurt Vita short term.

I wonder if those so called "vita masters" are making any difference at all...
seems that they aren't very good at their job. (well... who knows? maybe they bought those 24 vitas to keep it above 10k :D)

when 3DS went though the game drought didn't GAF say that Sony wont make the same mistake with Vita?

Why Didnt Sony take any notice of nintendo's software problems?

Yep. That game could, potentially, sell hundreds of thousands of Wiis.

Had it been a more traditional dq game then yeah it would've done, as it is i doubt it but should give wii a bit of a bump. Then again it could really take off in a massive way, if any mmorpg is gonnnna sell multiple millionsbin japan it'll be this one

Will Level-5 go back to handhelds again or are we looking Wii U for all future DQ games?

The same reason they didn't with the PSP.
They simply don't care about their handheld enough.

Lever-5 doesn't decide where DQ goes...
Anyway, the next mainline DQ (XI) most likely will go to 3DS. Even if DQ X is a great success, that doesn't mean that they will stop releasing normal DQ games.
