The victim went to my Alma Mater and I remember seeing him around at some campus events. Most of my BSU social media is in shock over this. One of the reasons why black students opt to go to HBCUs like BSU instead of schools like UMD College Park is to not deal with dangerous Alt-Right viewpoints and aggression, so it's sad he could not escape that on a visit. RIP.

One of the biggest reasons why I'm proud to be a Charlotte Hornets fan is because it has been minority owned since 2004. First by Bob Johnson and now by Michael Jordan. It's also why I could never cheer for a team like the Magic which is owned by the DeVos family.

The Kings are also owned by a minority, so I guess it should not be a surprise that both teams were and still are the recipients of scorn and derision from media and fans.

The facebook group has been shutdown according to the Heavy article I posted a bit ago. I haven't checked personally though.

They cater to the shockjocks that want to "OMG look sooo blooody! Abortion is murder!" on their profiles and pages. Facebook is not your friend, it is your enemy.

I dont know about that, but it reminded me of every story I ever read about in the era when Black people were expected to get off the sidewalk and into the street if a White person crossed their path. Then getting lynched if they refused. Its about racial subordination.

I see a lot of this and I can't get behind it because it feels like a way to frame the concept of politics as something inherently respectable, which is horse shit.

White supremacy very much is political. Given that, in America, our nation's history of oppression ties into every facet of society and is practically in the air that we breathe, shit like this is absolutely political and all of the policies and attitudes that contribute to this shouldn't be waved away.

Don't mistake this as me saying that we need to respect white supremacy, but instead that we need to recognize that "politics" encompasses vile and heinous stances, and because those stances affect policy and in turn the day-to-day lives of the oppressed, they need to be recognized (as in, not be considered apolitical) and pushed back against at every turn.

Nah...white dudes made it political so they could pass their laws under the guise of simple policy. It's pure hate...and it doesn't deserve to be seen as anything but hate.

As long as it stays political in anyone's mind the longer it'll take to get it seen as what it is. Policy is just something for the racist to hide behind...to make it "respectable."

Twitter and facebook need to do a better job. It may not have stopped this crime, but these people don't deserve to congregate is such platforms.

No reason a group like this should have been allowed to thrive on facebook and no reason why racist trolls and enablers should still have twitter accounts.

As recently as the 1920s the Klan had Catholics right up there with black people as the enemy to be othered, but after civil rights in the 60s garnered a lot of backlash from working class whites (who were often Slavic, Italian, or Irish), the definition was expanded so that the movement could find new ground.

Precious little self-reflection among Nazis, though, like with Nazi groups in Russia.

The Facebook moderating​ rules that the guardian has been publishing are an embarrassment and I can't for the life of me figure out why no one cares.

YouTube was rightly blasted loudly and quickly but nary a whimper for Facebook

Police say, Welby Burgone is a former police academy recruit now assigned to the communications section. Hours after the comment, the police Professional Standards Unit launched an investigation.

An account in Burgone's name responded to a post jokingly approving of the fatal stabbing with an image macro of a crab holding a knife and the text, "You mess with crabo, You get a stabo."

Anyone still using the idea that people are only bigots under anonimity are hopefully waking up now. Even more, it also disproves that children and teens are the only people participating. Grown men & women, doctors, teachers and politicians have all shown an undying hate for black people and black people's lives. It really has made me trust no one. People stay at arms length with me until they plainly and firmly show they have not an ounce of this stuff in their lives.
