MOUNT VERNON — The Bow-area man accused of stabbing his father to death was charged Thursday in Skagit County Superior Court.

Lane Maurice Davis, 33, pleaded not guilty to one count of first-degree murder. He is being held on $1 million bail.

Court documents state Lane Davis started a fight with his parents July 14 at their home in the 4000 block of Wharf Street, accusing them of being “leftists” and “pedophiles.”

An audio recording of the fight, found on his father Charles Davis’ cellphone, indicated that Lane Davis threatened to kill his father several times.

Lane Davis told police he was angered after reading something on the internet about “leftist pedophiles,” which sparked an argument between the two men.

By the time police arrived, Charles Davis was dead, documents state.

Lane Davis is expected to appear in court again Sept. 7.

He was previously held on a magistrate’s warrant, which gives police 30 days to build a case before filing charges in Superior Court, which handles felonies.

Now I know what you're thinking "NoName999, you sassy slut, the article doesn't mention anything about reddit!"

And you're right. But this guy is racist the youtuber "Seattle4Truth" with a reddit account of the same name.

So maybe now Reddit will finally wise up and ban The_Donald like the great site.... HAHAHAHAHA. Fuck you Reddit.

I mean, he was clearly radicalized by the right-wing internet. How big a role reddit played in that, who can say, but it was absolutely a nonzero factor.

I'm not really sure how important the detail that he had an account on r/the_donald really is.

Because he murdered his father for being a "leftist paedophile" and that subreddit is a cesspit of hate speech and anti-leftist conspiracy theory bullshit. Have you forgotten about Killary's pizza restaurant paedo-dungeon already?

Considering his stated reasons for killing his father were almost certainly cultivated by places like the /the_donald I'd say it's a notable detail.

I'm not really sure how important the detail that he had an account on r/the_donald really is.

Because it likely contributed in brainwashing him, which lead him to do what he did. There is a relevant conversation to have around the effect of mass propaganda on people's minds.

White males being radicalized throughout the internet. Just move out of the house if you hate your dad that much over some political beliefs. Hope he rots in jail.

The lies of the right definitely have the potential to brainwash people to a point where they are willing to commit violent acts against anyone the ideology deems an enemy.
Since the ideology is conspiratorial in nature every enemy is part of a vast assumed "evil" structure, which probably helps generating the necessary hate and perceived threat level to resort to fatal violence.

Or why op felt the need to investigate some random stranger to find that out

I was wondering the same.

But not before clicking the link and being held hostage to doing some questionnaire before being able to read the article.

Because

Lane Davis told police he was angered after reading something on the internet about ”leftist pedophiles," which sparked an argument between the two men.

It's relevant.

It can be argued, or at least I would argue, places like r/the_donald serve to radicalize people. Given it’s a political subreddit and this seems like a murder brought on by some bullshit he read online, seems like it’s pretty relevant to understand how we got here.

He's got multiple posts with 3000+ upvotes on there

by the end of the day their mods will probably have deleted all his comments and posts he made there

Perfectly able to grasp the inherent value of the fishing game.

Because it was his "safe space" where his bigotry and hatred was not only acceptable, but encouraged.

The very fact that the reasons for him murdering his father involved alt right taking points shows that his involvement in bigotry online was a factor. We can go about the argument of correlation and causation but the link is still a valid talking point.

Pretty much agree. Any sufficiently large internet community is gonna have members who end up doing really heinous shit. Even high profile members. That shouldn't be something people here need to be reminded of.

A man who murdered his father over anti-leftist conspiracy theories (you've heard of PizzaGate, right?) was a member of a mainstream discussion forum for anti-leftist conspiracy theories promoted by one of the most popular sites on the net, against a context of fake news and state-funded misinformation campaigns that resulted in our current political climate.

It's relevant because that sub helps radicalize people. I can only assume it's under surveillance now and that's why it hasn't been banned.

Favorites and likes videos include: PewDiePie, Alex Jones, and r/The_Donald. Why am I not surprised?

Edit: and subbed to the exact channels you would expect too. I'm sure I would have hated this guy.

I would argue that the mass propaganda in the US is neither some Russian bot or some subreddit but the fact that Americans are spoon-fed nationalism from a very early age.

Another white male radicalized by online right wing hate speech. IIRC the Canada Mosque shooter frequented similar websites. At what point do the authorities start taking this shit seriously?

Read again and connect the dots. I'm surprised people find it difficult to get the connection, specially considering the kind of stuff that's discussed on that subreddit.

Never because:

1. Muh free speech

2. What's the internet?

Because it tells you an awful lot about the kind of person they were and where the notion he should murder “leftist pedophiles” comes from.

The same reason why it was relevant that the Umpqua Community College in 2015 was a 4chan denizen of /r9k/. The same reason Pizzagate was even a thing to begin with.

Because these people who used to be isolated to the fringes of society all found each other in the wilderness and built their own communities to legitimize their insanity and doubly radicalize their hatred. They feed on each other. They empower each other.

Because places like TD and /pol/ give people like this guy a place to go and feel vindicated, enabled, and justified.

It is relevant.

Not a mod, just a bot.
This might have been an interesting thread if the OP hadn't taken the opportunity to engage in some dumb intra-forum garbage.
