Men's Fashion |OT| Style is eternal; But my wallet isn't

i'm quite happy with the few items i have from them. nothing unusual quality-wise for the price point, but the brand has a nice sportycaz chill luxe bro vibe to it.

Honestly, I'd hand wash if that's feasible to you...if the sweater is <$100 and you really don't care about it too much, take your chances...but I've ruined a few doing exactly what you said.
Ruined how exactly? I think I'll stick to machine washing on delicate and laying flat to dry. Or would you recommend just taking them to the dry cleaners like twice a season? What about sweatshirts?
Maybe if you have a handwash setting on the washer and throw it in a garment bag. I wouldn't dry it though, maybe soak up some excess water with a towel and lay flat to dry, turning over periodically
How often should I turn it over? I'm a college student so I have two bath towels only, little space and not enough time to be handwashing

get a drying rack and put it in your room (assuming you enough space)

re: general care, you can machine wash some cotton sweaters, assuming they aren't cable knit or otherwise delicate. probably not a wise idea cuz if it gets caught on something you're gonna be sad.... I usually just soak my sweaters in a sink/tub with some woolite or delicate garment wash and just hang dry afterward. but I have the space to do that, and it does take up space.

sweatshirts I just throw in the washing machine, no problem. same with dress shirts (hang dry) and some casual pants (also hang dry).

Alright here are all of the sweaters/sweatshirts I wear regularly, getting more for the fall season though

Lightweight Sweatshirt in Blue
Woodsman Sweater
OHanlon Mills Sweater
Textured Zip Sweater
Extra Fine Merino Sweater

and then I have a lightweight 100% cotton slub knit sweatshirt that I've just been washing and drying on cold

I already have a mini iron board, I can hang dry all of these but I know you're not supposed to be hang drying sweaters. I think the only ones I should be careful with are the merino one, the urban one and the woodsman one

hang drying on a rack is fine if you just drape it over a few of the bars. I've done this with my wife's very thick, 8 ply cashmere sweater-thing without issue. however you don't want to hang on a standard hanger as the weight will create puckers in the shoulders.

the real trick is to squeeze (not wring) out as much water as humanly possible after you soak and wash. even if you think you're done, go back after 15 minutes and you'll have even more dripping.

What about the ones I linked? Do you think I can machine wash cold any of them? Machine dry cold any?

1. it's a sweatshirt, of course.

2. i'd handwash a sweater with suede. suede tends to get fucked up with heavy detergents while a more gentle option will be ok.

3. cotton/acrylic will be ok to machine wash/air dry, put it in a wash bag so it won't get caught on a zipper/button.

4. also cotton and a plain weave, machine wash air dry

5. wool will probably shrink. it might stretch back out if you're lucky. but I would hand wash wool.

just do what the care tags say, IMO. just put stuff you're chucking into a machine in a bag so your knits don't get fucked up.

yeah the only one I was iffy on was the Woodsman sweater, the suede panels complicate things and the tag says hand wash but the online page says machine wash. Instead of hand washing that one and any wool ones I get in the future could I just take it to the on-campus dry cleaners do you think? As long as I'm wearing shirts under them I'd only need to get them washed like twice a season right?

also what wash bags would you recommend? Can I just get any off of Amazon and be good?

wool is pretty resilient, I wouldn't dry clean it more than a few times a season. really, hand washing is easy and stress-free, you can chill and watch netflix while doing it.

since it has suede they will probably make you pay for it to be shipped off to a leather specialist which will take a month or more to get back and be $$$

edit: amazon?! dude just to go a grocery/department store and check out the laundry aisle. they're just zipped bags of mesh.

:(

I guess I'll try my hand at hand washing then, just wish I had someone here who could walk me through the first time at least

use as much soap as you would on a lover's hair. any clean basin will do.

you're overthinking this

LOL. Psycho...just throw that shit - gently - into a bucket and air dry it. Your clothes will smell and look wonderful.
aight, my b

Also I like this Urban Sweater a lot but of course it has acrylic in it :/

Fuck my sensitive skin

Edit: wait am I not supposed to be drying my jeans on cold delicates either. They're crappy pre-washed Uniqlo jeans and I always liked how they feel right out of the dryer.

Honestly, with jeans, I try to wash them RARELY. When I do, it's usually by hand, air dry.

Eh if they're prewash a washing machine is fine.you only need to be fancy with denim if it's raw and you're trying to preserve dye or some such. Then again I have only one pair of standard denim so I'm not an expert.

Also I don't know anything about suit supply outerwear but I'd imagine it's just as nice for the price as their other stuff.

thank god

Also can I go cheap for "fun" socks, was thinking of just getting like 10 pairs from Uniqlo but was wondering if it's really worth it to spend the extra cash on nicer socks

I just wear Costco dress socks and gold toe black socks. I've gotten pantharella before and eh, not really worth the diff. I do have some silky ones for tux use tho.

I'm going next week so I'll let you guys know how the quality / look / fit is.

Suit Supply suits are slim fitting. It's actually the exact type of suit I've been trying to find for a while until I finally had the chance to check them out in person. I went for the Grey Napoli last time.

Debating on getting either Havana Green Check, Lazio Blue Stripe, or Lazio Blue Check.

And their suits are made to be easily tailored. For example, they leave a lot of fabric on the seat of your pants to allow for either opening it up or tightening.

I'm not quite sure about their outerwear, but I really want one of their coats.

Thinking single-breasted coat for winter this year. Have a couple of double breasted in the closet.

Looking for something like this:

Finally took the plunge on a pair of black leather Chelsea boots. Bought a pair of Loake 290s for £115 + shipping costs from the UK. It was hard to pass up that deal since those are usually selling for £150-175.

Hope I don't regret it!

Nice, Loake is good. What made you skip the Jack Erwins?

Just cost. With the Canadian dollar, I was paying nearly 300 bucks for the JEs and with shipping in, I'm paying 270 for the Loake. They seem pretty equivalent and I wasn't in a rush. That, and I kind of like the shape of the Loake a little more than the JE.

Though I'm thinking maybe next year (if the Canadian dollar rises) I'll grab the brown suede version of the JE boot:

Welp, I bit the bullet and got a pair of Red Wing Iron Rangers in copper (8115).

I wanted the Amber Harness, but the store didn't have my size. And I figured once I put some oil on it, it'll get a bit darker anyway.

No joke, H&M sells something that looks very similar in maroon/amber suede for $100, if you want to have something cheap to hold you off for a while. lol

Those look badass

I've been wanting these boots for a while now, and all the reviews for them have been great. I couldn't pass it up when I saw it in store.

Dope. Hope you're ready for the break-in process. I hear it's pretty long with Iron Rangers.

Somebody post a button up for me to buy 😊

If you haven't blown all your money on Bonobos yet, I think Lands End is a good alternative, usually at half the cost. I have 3 of those Tall Tailored Fit Chambrays. Solid feel, slender through the body but not tight/full range of motion, lighter colors are nice contrast to your darker jeans, etc.

Very nice. I have timberland earthkeepers in the same color that I love, but the iron rangers are dope.

It feels like it's definitely going to take some time to break in. I did a walk around them briefly and it's stiff as hell. But there's a hell of a lot of leather used on it.

I've been wanting the boots for a while now, and I've considered other brands, but this was the one that I wanted in the end. I saw Chippewas at the store beside these for a cheaper price, but I couldn't just pass up Red Wing boots.

But speaking of Timberlands, it's interesting to see its resurgence. I remember wanting a pair like 10 years ago, and it suddenly just dropped out of favour. But I was a kid back then, so what the hell did I know? lol

Nice, those look great. I have the iron rangers in muleskinner. One of my favorite pair of boots. Take care of them and they'll last forever.
