Well it finally happened. The younger one’s forearm got burned on one of my truck’s exhaust pipes. I’m always warning “hot hot” and not to touch…today should be fun.

Well it’s the first snow of the year, house is chilly and I’ve been wide awake for a bit so I got a robe on, got my Steam Deck, turned on the fireplace and now it’s time for Persona 5 and chill until the children or wife awake to ruin my good time

My HVAC has a blower fan motor issue. I'm half tempted to tear into the thing myself but I fly out tomorrow so I don't want to get halfway through and need to leave without it being repaired.

What’s it doing? I replaced the motor in mine myself a few years ago. It sounded like a jack hammer before, has sounded normal since. It wasn’t very difficult, just had to go back to the store for a new bracket to hold it because the old one didn’t fit the new motor.

No sound or anything. Everything looks fine physically. I am wondering if the fan itself is defective or something. The unit is only 2 years old. Thankfully it's a warm day here so. The wife will call the HAVC guys tomorrow and hopefully everything is fixed before the cold gets here.

Weather in Chicago is a lot nicer than back home. Got dinner Thursday booked with my buddy. Looking forward to a week full of good food. Starting out with some poke for lunch.

My time in winter in Chicago was definitely not defined by good weather. I thought I was going to freeze to death when I had to walk three or four city blocks downtown to my hotel that first night (taxi dropped me off at the wrong hotel without my realizing it).
Anyways, if you're near downtown there are some African restaurants that I would suggest anyone to try. Just ask the locals, they'll know the best ones.

West Loop though I stay in the Loop proper fairly often. I went with poke for lunch. Not sure yet for dinner. I’ve got a res on Thursday with a buddy at one of my favorite places. I love the food here. It would almost be enough to make me want to live here. Probably for the best that I enjoy cooking.
My edible kicked in. Listening to the new Alvvays album. Feels good man.

While I definitely smoked weed at various times in my life, it didn’t really become a mainstay for me until about 18-24 months ago. I quit booze and a few months later a buddy told me about delta 8.

The booze > weed transition has been the best thing I’ve done for my health as an adult. Weight loss alone would’ve been worth it but all my risk factors are comfortably in the safe zones these days.
I still like to get my drank on for special occasions but man do I pay for it the next day as I’m passing by my mid-30s, so the nightly ritual has been quelled and I’m much healthier for it. Maybe it’s trading one vice for another, but the weed comes with far fewer drawbacks.

I don't know. I got really fat from smoking weed due to those nasty munchies and lack of sport. Plus I had that disgusting smoker's cough. A combination with wine kept at least the munchies at bay but all in all I don't do well with "sensible" use of pretty much anything.

I don’t really get the weed munchies, but I definitely get the drunk munchies, plus the calories from alcohol…and I don’t smoke. I tried it before in college and it turned me off on weed until it became available in other forms. Vape some, but mostly edibles/tinctures. Maybe take a few hits in a vape pen a week, max. A vape cart will usually go bad before I finish with it.
But to each their own. I definitely love wine, beer, and whiskey. Just maybe too much.
