Ok. So I hear all this criticism on the story, other stuff.

So before you read this, you have to know, I am easily pleased.

ACT 4:
JESUS FUCKING CHRIST EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIIIIIIIIIIC. The whole thing was epic. I'm kind of glad Naomi died, I started disliking her at the end of MGS1 already >:| Vamp scene was ok but unnessecary, it kind of felt like they had to kill him off, so they just put that fight in there. The dual screen thing was very nice, and I like how you have the railgun Fortune has in MGS2 :D Atleast, I think it is. AND THEN I BECAME METAL FUCKING GEAR REX AND FOUGHT METAL FUCKING GEAR RAY WOOHOO AND THEN OUTER HAVEN CAME UP AND HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT. The shit was so epic, I closed my PS3 at the moment Raiden stopped Haven from hitting Snake. So tomorrow I'm going to see what happens next. I COULDN'T STAND THE EPIC OVERLOAD.
YES YES FUCK YES ALL OVER MY TITS AND WHAT COMES AFTER OMFG I CRIED BITTER TEARS KNOWING I WOULD NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS SEE THIS KIND OF EPIC SHIT EVER AGAIN

*BOW*

Seriously. Some of the moments in this game made me squirm with joy. SQUIRM. I lay on the floor, awegasming away at the pure ART of what was happening on screen.

hot.
actually, that was my first reaction :lol

But just to be sure, I went to the Kotaku link to see if its a girl, and it is. But really though, I thought it was pretty obvious that it was a girl, unless you know a lot of guys who would wear that kind of belt, and had hips like that.

Seriously though, what a hideous tat :/

Finished the game just yesterday. I love the gameplay, but there is just not enough of it. There's no such thing as a quick MGS game. I remember not even touching the controller for the first 45 minutes after turning on my PS3. I would rather konami/kojima implemented so sort of co-op instead of making a movie. I guess I'll try MGO soon.

Likes:
- good story with solid character development
- gameplay. Love the cusomized weapons. You can play as a sneak or you can spray, at least on Liquid easy.

Cons
- things are WAY too drawn out- cutscenes, etc
- wish there were more levels
- Naomi. Am I the only one who wanted to cap her? How does Snake, a master of espionage get suckered by her?

i hate naomi in MGS4, even her looks. she was much cooler in MGS.

only thing I really missed was the accent, I thought that somehow made her more of a unique character (I know it was just a British accent but it's better than most of the cast having American accents). other than that I loved Naomi in MGS4.

...And then
Raiden "stopped" that huge aircraft carrier sized ship
, at this point i was sure that Kojima needs someone to watch over his shoulder. That person should slap him everytime he comes up with new totally f+cked ideas. MGS4 ended after act 2 for me, it turned into a pretty bad movie after that. MGS1-3 never went overboard like this.

Finished it last night, 18 hours ~40minutes. apparently I'm a "frog"(player who likes to roll onwards :D)

Game of the generation for me. It was just so good, so much love has gone in to this. Amount of detail and depth is just mind staggering.

Just about how i felt about it.

completed this game yesterday...easily my game of this gen so far.

Despite many narrative weaknesses and far to much exposition for some of the side characters (otacon...), the central story concerning snake was very well portrayed, mainly because Snake is such a fantastic character... The romance was a little cringe worthy

So much damn variety in this game, I don't think I've ever seen a boss fight as epic or good looking as the finale either...

I've played all mgs games prior, and this is easily my favourite

The game has a ridiculous amount of content, and its a testament to what it achieves, that it has more flaws than most other games, but far more strengths as well...

Also
Akiba was a winkle picker...He was amusing but I felt his prominence in the story was lame as hell... As was the romance between Naomi and Otacon...too much of diversion from Snake's activities... Also, Merryl was pretty bitchy, very irritating character...so much shit was thrown at snake, but I suppose he comes through it

finished my 6th playthrough, going for 0 alerts and 0 kills in hard/extreme is what the game is meant to be played, my first playthrough was a shooting fest just to try every weapon and such, fun, but not as satisfying. Still my fav game of all time.

I have some good news for you. You'll be able to play through this in a variety of different ways, including Rambo-style, ninja assassin style, ect. You can also spend lots of time searching around for weapons and items you didn't uncover last time. Or you can try speed runs at various difficulties. Or try for the emblems or easter eggs. I have played through MGS4 many times and still haven't found everything.

Shiiit. Are you kidding? She's hot as hell. Looks like someone I know actually...

She was more interesting in MGS1. The problem with her in MGS4...as is with pretty much every character in that "game", is that her actions are pretty much fucking stupid.

Rofl, exactly how I felt it.
And then apparently he's still alive XD

I haven't played in a while, just to keep firm to the feeling of epic I still have left. Right, I'm
at the fight with liquid... I already feel so empty. That last cutscene with the microwaves had my eyes getting watery ;-; Now that all the bad things are in the past, I can't help but think this Liquid fight, TOTALLY a homage to the first liquid battle, is going to be the end of the game... And I don't want it to end.
I really don't :( It will only feel bad...

Raiden is so badass in this game. Which is awesome, since he was the main reason I was turned off from MGS 2 and quit playing halfway through.

And on the sixth day the LORD David Bowie created man and woman in His image. And he saw that it was good. On the seventh day the LORD created videogames so that He might take the bloody day off for once.

Disposing of the FROGs in your immediate area would help greatly.

I just completed the game... I didn't want it to end :(

I know they had to tie up the loose ends, but some things felt a bit unnesecary. I don't know exactly whether it meant of RT PTRL01 and Drebin being part of the Patriots were of any importance... Other than than the fact that yeah, Liquid was a threat to their system and they were fighting against him? Wouldn't it just stay the same if they WEREN'T part of it?Also, can someone explain to me what Big Boss exactly meant that Snake's FOXDIE killed Ocelot and Big Boss himself? I thought he said the epidemic strain of it was being negated? The wedding felt out of place, along with Raiden's kid, but that's part of tying up the loose ends and somehow Raiden's facial animations really struck me as good. His body is pretty much still looking good probably all synthetic, gg future :lol Other than that, I loved the ending, though the microwave cutscene brought along much more emotion with me. AND I JUST FUCKING LOVED THE WHOLE DAMN GAME

Kojima, thank you :')

They count as kills, though. The fact that they count for both kills and alerts make it much more challenging. Beating her fast was the key to my sub-4 hour Big Boss Emblem run. Even so, that was one of my favorite boss fights in the series.

After a second playthrough I begin to like the plot of MGS4. Some areas now made sense, but I'm still disappointed by many things, including shitty acting (the scene beetween Otacon and Naomi during the third act briefing was just terrible, same for the wedding scene)
I still think it's flawed and it's still my least favorite MGS, but I recgonize that the plot is actually consistent. Also, best gameplay in the series imo (except for act 3)

Spoiler tag please, I'd hate to read all that when I haven't completed the game.

No, that was the best part. All of the games were pretty bad movies and I like it like that. It's for the laughs you know. You can't take this shit seriously. Have you read the scripts for the games? They're crazy, self-indulgent and ridiculous. Yes all of them even the first one. Just because they push the physical action to a new level of awesome shouldn't be a bad thing <3

But in a more serious tone, I think I get what you mean, but I just completely disagree. I watch it for the 'new totally f+cked ideas'. Just like I got all giddy about Shiva-bike. Borderline-retarded epic fun with crazy visuals is what it's all about for me.

God i dont want to agree with you, but i have to. I was listining to Eva in Act 3 and EVERYTHING that woman said was completely ridiculous and completely disconnected from reality. I stuck through it, but i finally had to turn the game off at the "lets fight with knives" part.

Your wrong. MGS3 is one of my favorite games ever, and thats because there was NO part of that game where i didnt take the boss completely seriously. In MGS4 im not even to sure what most of these characters are doin in the game let alone not cringe everytime the openned their mouths.

MGS3 had a guy who shot bees out of his mouth while yelling PAIN every few seconds.

Raiden actually
teleported. TELEPORTED. That's why you see the Terminator-ish lighting bolts when all if left is the sword. I am not kidding.

Anyway MGS4's original 2005 premise made me feel the game would be darker, with Snake basically being mostly alone VS soldiers that live through war, and killing machines, and doing most of the mission by himself with barely any contacts other than Otacon. I thought it would be more about war, soldiers, and closer to reality on an emotional level. It got really too cartoony for my taste.

You should know the MGS series never takes itself seriously to an extent.

I had that feeling too. I was also hoping that Kojima would approach the idea of an old Solid Snake in a more intelligent and mature way, instead of beating the living crap out of him over and over again in order for us to feel sorry for him.

Coulda sworn my post mentioned "The Boss" specifically....

Even still ill give you the Pain was silly and so was the rollerskating fat man from mgs 2 but ALL the characters in mgs4 were so beyond belief it was hard to play. Even snake became some doofus archetype allong with Raiden, and Liquid. No character even comes close to being in the shadow of the boss.

That's funny since I thought the characters in MGS4 had very little in the way of supernatural elements to explain their powers unlike the previous MGS games. I just can't understand how someone could look at MGS4 and then at the previous MGS games and say that MGS4 is the one game in the series with characters that are beyond belief.

While I don't agree with his statement that MGS4 pales in comparison to the other games in the series I don't think he's talking about the supernatural elements. He is saying he didn't like the characters in MGS4 because of their choices and characterization.

Easy, cause im not talkin about their powers, im talking about their actions dialogue. I could care less about where their powers came from. I knew when i picked up the game that it wasnt splinter cell and there were gonna be werewolves or whatever. I dont require them to explain why Vamp is immortal i would just like his actions, dialogue, and motivations to make sense. I dont think thats to much to ask.

Yeah The Boss part in MGS3 felt like where I thought MGS4 would go. It was very down to earth, yeah very powerful. I thought it would be like that for MGS4. Even with the Beauty and the Beast I was cool with it, they looked really deranged and brutal, but in the game itself it was J-Porn fetish with no substance.

Hey guys, I'm trying to make an MGS 4 poster for my room. Can anyone make some HD screen caps of MGS 4's ending?

Not the entire ending though, I just need pics of Big Boss and Solid Snake together. Like when BB gives snake a hug, when they try to shake hands, when snake helps BB to the Boss' grave, and when BB is nearing his death while sitting on the Boss' grave.

Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.

I'm going to start a second playthrough soon :D I hardly ever do that with a game.

So what's the secret to being good at MGO?

How do you unlock weapon mods? How do you rank up (can I play free battle games?)

Why does auto matchmaking take ten minutes to find players of a similar skill level? I started to get the hang of things after about a half hour of play but I feel like the game is impossible to play in first-person view unless you have some kind of scope. I can't hit shit with a basic rifle in first-person view.

So guys,

Am I completely screwed for not having played MGS3? Sold my PS2 way back and never rebought it in Slim form as I meant to do.

Can't really buy PS2 just for MGS3 either because there can be only so many gaming devices in my living room. So thank you Sony for dropping BC.
