So much more feelings, emotions, fan service and MGS moments
So yes, for me too 4 > 5

Brother! That's what I am talking about. I never played Metal Gear for the gameplay. The gameplay is really great in MGSV, but I was there for the story and characters and that was fucking disappointing.

It angers me.

I've said this from day 1, MGS4 had the best/most memorable moments out of all the MGS games. Sure some of it was stupid, but there's so many memorable scenes.

Anyway. I just beat MGSV.
Fuck this game.
(not actually a spoiler =>)
heh nah game is amazing.

I was waiting for it to get bad, but it never did. I can agree though that it just kind of ended out of nowhere and that some things seemed to be missing. But the story that actually made it in was pretty good IMO. That twist had me by the balls tbh

4 is my favorite as well but even then I still love 5 and am enjoying it to bits. I enjoyed aspects of the story and liked the twist. I feel that I already said goodbye to the series in MGS4(I would have been fine with no more MGS games) that's why the prequel games never bothered me story wise as they are mostly set in stone to where it's going to head eventually in the grand scheme of things, so yeah. All I wanted out of 5 was an amazing gameplay, I had no story expectations so maybe that's why I didn't hate it. Only expectation I had was
hearing DH once more as Snake for the final time but alas that didn't happen.

Its a pretty strange feeling that this is it the last game and the game feels a bit unfinished. I really enjoyed it (and still am) I still can't place it yet the gameplay is top notch for the series. I enjoyed the twists and the tapes more than I thought I would. I still didn't get that "damn" moment where I sat back and was blown away I guess.

Congrats Marty.

MGS4 can't be the best in the series after it destroyed the awesomeness of MGS2 and making THOSE characters The Patriots.

MGS4 story is emotional, epic, all you want, but thats more of the how it went, rather than the what. MGSV is the other way around.

MGSV is better. at least what retcons makes more sense that the retcons of 4.

MGS4 is at the bottom of the list for me.

V is at the top. I was never engaged in a game in my entire life as I was with V. Best gameplay in the series and the stealth genre period. I loved the story too and I thought the ending was genius and that's the Kojima I like, the one who takes risks and not the one who caters to fans' wishes (ex: MGS4).

Don't worry soon it will not exist to some people but who cares me and a bunch of others are having tons of fun.

Metal Gear fan base my friend. The same people who trashed MGS4 after giving it GOTY twice in a row. A community, I will never understand.
I've been enjoying the he'll out of it after getting back into after the disappointing conclusion. It just baffles me how quickly opinions change. It's like they change weekly.

Exactly. All you need is a couple of published articles praising the story and everybody will change their minds. Nobody would know about the phantom episode if they didn't want to show it?

Anyway, I've finally finished the game. Agree with the idea that the ending come a bit abrupt (which was something that could have been easily fixed, with another "to be continued" or maybe
tied with the end of Paz's missions
and it would have been more powerful. I was also surprised that
Kojima didn't allowed us to play with Ishmael mission 46, what a great opportunity to give farewell to Big Boss
.

Having said that, I think it was a good story, the final cassette tapes really bring new nuances to the saga. I think it makes MGS4 better.
All tapes with Zero are great and so is the complete tape from the end of Ground Zeroes.

Does it has flaws? Yes, it does. But so does every other MGS game and I can live with that. But I was expecting to have major continuity problems with the game and it is certainly not as bad as I thought.

Let's see what future MGS would have for now on. The game sold 3m copies and it appears that it needs to sell double of that to make a profit for Konami, so I don't know if they will make another one.

Now everyone is trashing the game/ level design and just about everything else. Before it was just the story.

I don't know about the story but the gameplay is absolutely stellar. The game gives you a huge array of tools and approaches, a bunch of robust systems that work, and then expects players to use their noodle. What more can you ask for really?

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if most of the bitching about the game/level design is splash damage from the story disappointment (which, as of Mission 35 (?) hasn't reared its head yet) and the expectations that come from it being sold as Open World when it isn't really.

I've been doing that as soon as I noticed there was no bases near the quality of Camp Omega. Good mechanics wasted on a poor sandbox.

Balls, sir. Big fat hairy balls.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. XD
LOL, me too.
No. But that gif was not a good choice. I see now why you would question that. LOL. I wasn't making fun of you. Thanks.
Ahh. Cool.
He's making fun of you.
Ohh. :(
MGS4 is better than MGSV now?

I can't believe people are saying MGS4 is better than MGSV.
Me neither.

I can't believe you guys have such a huge problem that MGS4 is a way better experience to some of us than MGSV.

I understand that the story might have been better for most people but it was awfully boring during the gameplay except for the boss battles. The only fun thing and what I truly enjoyed from MGS4 was MGO2.

I'm glad that you like it because it's better for people to not be disappointed but I disliked the gameplay just a few hours in. The open world is just so boring and the bases aren't great to infiltrate. I'd say there's about 2, maybe 3, good bases in Afghanistan and 2 in Africa. That said, it may have been better if it was just infiltrating bases instead of the slow-ass helicopter dropping you miles away from where you have to go. The game is just too slow most of the time. Would have hated it even more if it wasn't for the option to just jump back to the ACC after every mission. It wasn't until the story made revealed itself to be worthless shit that the game really left me sore. At least there's a funny twist to enjoy but the final mission is the worst fucking thing I've played in this series.

I say this still having played 110 hours because I hate myself though. I'll probably still get the platinum as well. Maybe MGO will be good, lol.
