whether ironic or not, the sentiment is a correct one; wouldn't rank this garbage ahead of TONY HAWK'S PRO SKATER V
v is for victory :)

lol... i've had so many people frown at me and i am pretty sure even block me in the spoiler thread for speaking out my mind on this game.

I give up.

Fact is.. the game has a lot of good, but the bad things are so glaringly bad, that it really spoils the experience. Because the game is as much about the gameplay as the story, and i don't think a lot of people want to come to terms with that. Oh well.

holy cow... and i thought i was angry with the game hahaha.

I hope you are being sarcastic about the jeep scene.
Happy to see no one actually bit. GAF am proud make.
I thought it was obvious I was joking but lel guess not. Nah this game is great imo and I thought the Jeep scene was good. If nothing else it made me laugh cuz shit was awkward af b/w Snake and Skull face tbh. Scene is iconic too tbh. IDK why people hate it smh
I really liked MGSV... Haven't quite beaten it yet though, so maybe I should withhold judgement until then.
Game is fine. Stay off of Gaf and chances of you liking it will be a lot higher.

Story is fine imo. Standard MGS and Kojima nonsense just this time badly paced.

I will say, after finally beating the phantom pain....I gotta say, The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is my GOTY.

People have fallen for even more obvious jests, but I refuse to believe there's any rational minded person who would rank this game below shovelware! I can't even say that about games I've hated enough to want to rant about them years later!

Yep.

The game started quite strong, but then it all went to hell. I'd probably put it as one of the worst MGS.

God, I just want to shout my frustration and anger at the world.

Here here... its ok. You too have known loss, and that loss torments you still. You hope hatred might someday replace the pain, but it never goes away. It makes a man hideo, inside and out. Wouldn't you agree? Our humanity won't return.

Kojima has sent us to hell. But we are going even deeper. Take back everything we've lost!

Yeah, man this game is an enigma on a good day. A lot of what the game entails is the very worst parts of modern video games.

I am really not understanding how it got such good reviews and how people think it's a good example of open world for instance.

Chapter 2 is a huge fist up the gamer's ass that's on par with bravely default bulshittery. Quiet's departure is the same (I'm gonna have to gr through hell to get that butterfly codename now if I bother to get it).

And the world outside of the big bases/villages which are fairly few compared to the size of the map is absolutely useless. I mean there is literally nothing to do in it (and don't get me started on the level design :( and the chore of travelling)

Gameplay could have been nice but is rendered basic and boring because of the open world. There is latterly no infiltration in this world except if you decide to go out of your way and put yourself in danger just to feel like you are infiltrating something.

And that's only a few of the game's flaws. I could write an essay on them.

Couldn't agree more, man. The bolded bit slayed me because there's a good amount of truth in it, sadly. Honestly, this game should have just been a bigger Ground Zeroes-- and it would have been just fine. And to go off of that note, the things I liked most about Ground Zeroes were absent from this game: simple, open-ended levels (Camp Omega throws you onto the playground and you make your way out how you see fit whereas TPP makes you fill the needless gaps in yourself), bookend story (I think the game should have followed the pattern of beginning cutscene, gameplay, bits of scenes here and there during woven into the gameplay, ending cutscene), and Side Ops. The more time I've had to sit on it, the more and more disappointed I am in the quality of TPP's Side Ops. I thought they would be like the ones we got in Ground Zeroes. Rescuing Glaz and Palitz was memorable. Destroying the Anti-Air Emplacements was memorable. Saving Kojima was memorable. Yet in TPP, it's all VERY forgettable (with the exception of the Important Side Ops and fighting the Legendary Bear). I can barely recall anything from my time rescuing Kojima in TPP, but I can remember every single detail from the same mission in Ground Zeroes. It all feels so insignificant compared to what was offered to us by a $30 tech demo. But whatever, MGSV is sophisticated and western so 10/10, woo-hoo!

Agree completely. I have been writing about all of this for a while. In the Spoiler thread i have met quite a lot of resistance too. Some people just don't want to see it for what it really is.

The game is incomplete.

The world, and how empty it is, how the game doesn't engage you or pursue you in any creative or interesting ways.

All of that is just the tip of the iceberg.

People dont agree with you therefore they are wrong?

Its this kind of attitude that makes any discussion about this game so freaking toxic. The spoiler thread since before MGSV even released to the public has been full of attitude on both sides where people are just unwilling to accept that some people hate MGSV...or that some people are perfectly fine with it.

The way you talk about "giving up" on stating your opinions as if you have to convince people to agree with you and how people "just don't want to see it for what it really is". I would bet thats why youre meeting so much resistance. Youre not the one true opinion on this game.

I like you. I really, really do. But the sooner you get over the fact that some people dont mind MGSV, the better itll be for everyone.

I cant disagree with anything that youre saying. Theres a ton of truth in it. But tone can mean everything. And your tone is rubbing me the wrong way.

lol... i didn't mean to be rude to you guys. Fact is i have been having some good conversations in the threads about what makes the game click and not click. But there are a lot of people that praise the game as a 10/10, including the media. and i just don't think the game is there. Out of all the MGS games.. as a unified and complete experience, this has to be the worst MGS. Just gauging by gameplay then this is the best. But MGS is more than that.

I have been pretty good at mentioning the pros and cons on the game, and i don't say you need to be in agreement for me to take you seriously. But the spoiler thread might have a good discussion that then is overshadowed by someone saying i just don't get it... or its a Kojima game so therefore its ok. or... Kojima did it that way, so you can interpret it for what its not. Trying to move through those is not as easy, and i am pretty sure it has ended in some people just flat out ignore my points or comments. Their right of course. But any comment i give, or theory i present i tend to back it up. So you people have an opportunity to see where i am coming from. I just don't go out of my way to hate on the game.

I do empathize on the shallow feeling that people outburst about the game. Its interesting. I also find it interesting how some people just enjoy the game, and others really like the story. Nothing against them, and i do understand that even on good games, that are critically acclaimed someone will come saying there is something wrong. I guess i just come more passionate on it since i am such a big fan and really cared for the series.

I'll try to be better about the tone tho. I can understand that, and i appreciate the feedback.

Can we be friends now?

Opinions are opinions, people. Remember that. Brau can hate TPP, I can love it. But at the end of the day we're still friends.

Words can kill.

Fixed that for you.

Most of the people here are i consider friends. Even acquaintances that i feel comfortable. If i say something that rubs someone the wrong way... then think if i would say that for you to take personally.

Like neko here... he has an adorable avatar, so anything he says i just discard, because whatever he just said in his post can't be as good as that cute cat avatar. :)

I don't think you're being rude. I'm honestly not sure what I think. It was just that I was getting a "everyone should agree with me" thing from your posts above.

Maybe it's me. Maybe I'm reading too much into things. I just see that tone a lot in mgsv discussion.

You don't ever have to give up on stating your opinion nor does anyone ever have to see it your way. Things just are what they are.

It's nothing personal. I promise I'll shut up about it.

I'd say the Peace walker trilogy as a whole is the worst of the bunch.
You can remove MGS4, PW, GZ, TPP and the rest works.
Edit: I guess you can remove MGS2 too and it still works.
