It's not THAT bad. LOD is so poor that it makes me laugh and it's ugly. But it's a fun game, especially on a 42 inch plasma (sitting about two feet from it) with surround headset by night.
I've believed in some pretty far out there theories, but I can't force myself to believe this is true. Why? Because this would be way too silly, even for Kojima!

Haha, I'll admit I put a decent (way too many hours) amount of time in that game. The Dark Brotherhood quest line is still one of my favorites story lines in any game.

I still don't know how I feel about MGSV.
In a lot of ways it's my least favourite MGS.
But then I started thinking about something.
At first I thought that

was a bit pointless. However, i have now realised that actually he is responsible for almost everything in the series.
Before I explain, I need to say that I have largely stayed out of story discussions so if this point was obvious to everyone then ignore me.
Spoiler tagged just in case someone hasn't finished the game.
It seems to me that Zero wanted to make amends with Big Boss, But due to Skullface he never got a chance. If Skullface hadn't infected Major Zero with the parasite that eventually caused him to enter a vegetative state then he wouldn't have set up the AI network.
If there was no AI network then the chances are that the events of, at least, MGS2 and 4 wouldn't have occurred or would have been vastly different.
So basically, while I think that certain aspects of the narrative set up future plot points in the timeline in an interesting way, I still think that the narrative as a whole is the weakest in the main series (numbered games).
The gameplay is still great though.
My ranking of the series based mostly on what i like most about video games (the narrative as opposed to gameplay quality):
haha, yeah for some reason MGS3 has never hooked me the way that the others did. It's also the one I have played the least, I think i have only finished it about 2 times whereas I have finished the others at least 5 or 6 times each except for MGSV.
I still think it's better than 80% of other games though.

Animal conservation trophy was by far the worst. They took an annoying easter egg from MGS3 and it made it into it's own mechanic except there was a 3 minute wait between attempts.
It was just plain irritating. Although towards the end I started getting extremely rare animals on first attempts by spamming the hell out of the bait bottle before leaving. Got the Leopard tortoise and tsuchinoko on my first attempts.
Think the red fox was the one that gave me the most problems until i realised you could plant cages at a helicopter point for easy results.
I loved the game and it's definitely my GOTY for the gameplay alone but my god that whole mechanic should never have been in the game.

It's easy for me to position MGS2 at the top of the list, since it's my fave game of all time, but beyond that my mind is full of fuck when I try to arrange the rest of the series.

Love the original trilogy and I think the prequels are okay with the exception of Episode 2 which I thought was abysmal.
I can't help but think that something about Episode 7 looks......."off".
It kind of looks like a high budget fan film to me based on the trailers.
I'm sure it'll be good though

I'm definitely really excited to see it. Might wait until a few weeks after release though. People that go to my local movie theater can be real dicks so I want to wait for the crowds to die down a bit

Ugh.. nothing can put a big damp on a movie going like a bad crowd. I am going day 1... i hope i am making the right decision. But then my work is taking us to see it in IMAX, so plenty of chances to enjoy it.

My local IMAX has awful uncomfortable and no legroom at all. Its the main reason i hardly go there. I'm not especially tall

Finally a MGS fan I can relate to. Well, sort of. I can't relate to MGS2 being a favorite.
But MGS3 also never hooked as much as the others. It's the only one I've only finished once. I think I will try the HD version for that 60 fps goodness though. That might change my mind since the framerate in 3 really bothered coming from 2.
If MGSV was pre mgs3 then i could understand this. But since its After, then the zipper MUST be down. Last shot from Eva and The Boss, how unzipped were they? ALL TEH WAY! hence button up not being canon.
