Metal Gear Solid Community |OT4| God Bless the Chopper!

If you just unlocked Africa, don't worry, there's still lots of game ahead of you.

Also be sure to thoughoutly inspect the Medical Bay after finishing the Extracting the Mother Base Soldier Side Op

I just got to Africa and had the same feeling of dread for expecting some kind of end. I guess I should relax on that front, huh? I mean I haven't even exited the first chapter it seems..

The thing is some people say it's like a 40-70 hour game and I've already spent like 35 but I really don't feel like I've seen enough to warrant being even halfway. I think maybe I've really just been taking my time and not speeding through like some people must have. Most episodes and side ops of the game take an hour for me since I always try to get as much done as I can the first go, I haven't even replayed any missions yet but it seems like I've progressed pretty slowly through the plot.

And about that second part...

After the first wandering mother base soldier side op.

Crap, so is that cutscene just completely missed now? I've done the second of those kind of side ops, never though to go back to Mother Base...

Edit:

This little number just showed up in the mail today

Flattening it now. Also came with the soundtrack.

Where did you get it? Did it come with the soundtrack as a package or did they come separately and if so where'd you order the soundtrack then?

Also, early game spoilers, but
I was somewhat dissapointed the montage after the hospital didn't turn into an "opening"bfor the game like Snake Eater's, what was Kyle Cooper working on then?

Companion App, anyone have success using it?

None. I can connect to the server fine, but the app is still saying no data found or page not found. I'm on Xbox One.

The GZ app worked so much better. And it didn't need your wireless router to be in bridge mode, which makes no sense at all.

Definitely. Wait, you don't mean you picked up all the buildings too, right? Mostly joking of course, but, maybe...

Took everything, every single bit of equipment and personnel, including the FOB platforms for my own personal use.
Not really, but i got everything that it let me Fulton. Found the perfect weapon combo of LTL and Lethal.

Also it seems my base defended against a attack without giving me a notification.
It also might be because the only thing the guy managed to do was... getting fultoned by my soldiers it seems. As i gained a member, somehow.

Not tried this app, what does it do?

Also Konami confirmed using other people WhyFy to keep others online via a P2P server system.

I figured out why this game feels weird to me:

It's addicting with all the Mother Base stuff.
The annoying voiceover every time I select anything from the idroid.
Every time I start the game it has to install trophies. Thanks to going through 4 SEPERATE DOWNLOAD I'm not reinstalling the game again.
DD is too cute.
He/She tried to climb on the helicopter but couldn't make it.
The whole base respects DEM FEELS as a result of the pup onboard for the mission.
All of the juicy stuff is contained in cassettes. My base feels empty and have yet to listen to
Grinding for materials is the worst.

Is there anyway to get mission rewards if you return to the ACC instead of extracting via air?
Is there a way to save before a checkpoint? I had an A+ stealth run going sneaking my way to the guy when I got killed. This restarted me at the original checkpoint at the start of the mission which pisses me off to no end.

So I just began ep. 30 when I decided to dismiss D-Dog in exchange for Quiet. When I finished the mission (which was awesome btw), my bond level with D-Dog went down one notch. Guess he took it personally. lol

Does Peace Walker hold up at all on Vita?

Because I just got a Vita and I really want some Metal Gear in there.

Is the HD collection on Vita good?

All PSP games function quite well on Vita IMO, haven't played Peace Walker on it though. Do bear in mind even though changing the controls to be a little bit better is possible on Vita, the game will still be low fps.

Oh yeah, and the MGS HD Collection is quite good on Vita. I do wish that the aforementioned Peace Walker was ported natively to Vita in the same package but whatever, it's not a huge problem. The MGS HD games (2 & 3, plus MG1 & 2) all function very well, but bare in mind that their controls are still difficult to get used to at first.

I wholeheartedly recommend them even if they are both 30 fps, with MGS2 being only 60 fps in some indoor areas.

I had that happen to, its rather annoying when I want to level up the other buddies and get there unlocks and DD just wants to be best buddies all the time (even if he is the best buddy).

On the FOB Front:
Did a lot of FOB today to get myself more resources and even nailed the 10mil achievement. I just targeted high rankers all day, let them attack my base and just creamed the rewards.

Win infiltration and defense = Laugh all the way to the bank.

6k+ resource bonuses, 60k+ GMP bonuses... Seriously the best way to get what you need to build up motherbase and FOBs (specially FOBs). Did run into one cheat though which wasn't surprising given the PC environment, he ate three direct rockets from my staff and it just knocked him down. Ended up sleeping him with a trap just before he got the the exit point on my base and then just threw him off my FOB, infinite health hacks can't stop traq techniques (for now at least).

I beat the game. Over 60 hours in. Never got that cutscene. In fact, there are several cutscenes from trailers I never got.

Clearly Kojima has taken some pages from From Softwares playbook with all this missable stuff

E. maybe the morale never got bad enough because you visit Mother Base so often?

I don't think the ending was satisfying to be honest :/ unless I haven't actually finished.

Yeah, the ending was really disappointing. It was like Kojima wasn't getting the time he needed to finish the game proper.

Was the final mission entitled
The Truth: The man who sold the world?

If not, don't click this.

I wasn't satisfied with the ending. Knowing we played as a body double for Big Boss was a letdown. I understand what Kojima was saying about us the player being a part of Big Boss' legacy, but in terms of the lore, it fell way short. I was hoping to see the creation of Outer Heaven & Big Boss' decent unto becoming a demon. It hurt my enjoyment of the game pretty badly :(

I've personally found the Isando (sp?) grenade launcher to be awesome for boss battles, use that and you should be good.

Beat it, and started over from the very beginning. I have some major gripes with the game, mostly involving plot details and a few questionable design decisions, and while it's by no means 'perfect' it is an amazing game. Kojima and his team should be proud of the final product.

I've put in 86 hours since launch, still not tired of it.

It is quite frankly how i wish most open world games was build. So much to do yet i just keep wanting more.

As for the plot
the true ending left me with more questions than answers and im not really sure what to make of it. Will we ever get a real ending? Kojima and the team behind this, as far as i know, got disbanded. Where does this leave the story?

There's so much i still want to know. What about Quiet?

Thoughts after beating the game.

I completed the game yesterday and didn't even realize it. I kept playing more side ops because I assumed I was only about halfway done or so. I was pretty disappointed to find out that was the end. I felt like it was building up for so much more. The game is incredible. But the abrupt ending felt like it fell short.

Anyone else feel similar?

Ebay listing out of Japan. The way the listing was (poorly) typed made it sound like he was selling the soundtrack and throwing in this poster also. Knowing that this poster was only released as a promo for japanese game shops, I jumped on it.

Where did you get this? I must have it

Keep your eyes on eBay brothers.

EDIT: Here's a listing!

Mission 46
i think its called :)

Can someone explain something to me about Quiet because I'm not getting an answer in the main thread?
Is it true that she is not a permanent buddy and how do you keep her is so

Does anyone find Quiet when fully tooled up is a bit OP? it makes taking bases and missions a bit of a joke only on mission 15 but yeah she just can destroy a base before I even get there, anyone else think this?

Yeah same but I dunno, feel "empty" like I didn't earn it haha!!!
I usually have scout the area, and she only shoots when i goof and get spotted. But since i unlocked the FOB, i've had her go into outposts and bases and go full attack, so i can get as many soldiers as i can.

Thanks, but that is pretty darn pricy, and it looks like that listing says in the description that it "doesn't include the CD, only poster"... I'll pass, I'm sure some group may be able to sell the poster in the US later, and the soundtrack can be bought from CD Japan way cheaper it seems.

Now, I will vent a little, because last night I finally got my brother to start playing MGSV. He became a fan of the series at the same time I did, but he's been holding off playing Ground Zeroes until TPP came out, which meant I could never talk to him about anything in GZ for a year and a half. The problem is that when it came time to (early gameplay spoilers)
enter your name and birthday, he wanted me to look up Big Boss' birthday
, and I thought that could very easily get spoilery, and I also believed the games had never revealed that information but he was insistent despite me telling him the sequence was probably like
MGS2's name entry and birthday thing at the start, and it probably was supposed to be your own name, not Big Boss'
.

Despite my better judgement I indulged my brother to look on the wiki for
his birthday
, even though I was pretty sure it's information that's never been more specific than
1935
.

WARNING MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD, ONLY READ IF YOU'VE COMPLETELY BEATEN THE GAME

Really though, do not read this if you haven't beaten the game all the way. Really though, do not read this if you haven't beaten the game all the way. Really though, do not read this if you haven't beaten the game all the way.

So guess what is right above the birthdays section for Big Boss in the Metal Gear Wiki, his aliases. Including at the very bottom, "Ishmael". Now this is a theory that has existed for a very long time, I think some even thought of it back at the original "The Phantom Pain" reveal. And with Ground Zeroes, with the medic who shares the voice and injuries of BB in GZ, along with the vague recollection of GZ's events at the beginning of TPP, I suspected this almost from the beginning, but I didn't want it confirmed. Big Boss is Ishmael, and for whatever reason uses a body double to throw Cipher off or something.

I mean, they put so much evidence to it that I almost had completely concluded that Venom was not the true Big Boss, because I picked up on the picture as soon as the doctor showed it and even noticed the fold over in the ACC helicopter that made it obvious that someone was being hidden. I almost thought the game was being so obvious about it that it had to actually be something the player was expected to pick up on, and that the real twist is that BB would start to believe he wasn't who he thought he was and would begin slipping morally more and more, because he didn't care about what he did, since he believed he was a "fake" and he wanted revenge on those that changed his self and brainwashed him. But then it could be revealed that all along this was just paranoia, and he always was the same Big Boss, cue shock and awe.

So I already had a pretty good idea of what was up, I wasn't that sure who Ishmael was, I even thought a big twist in the game could be that Big Boss had died in that chopper and the people who survived believed the world still needed him in the world so they tried to keep his existence through a "phantom". His genes would still exist in the world, but this would be a different way of keeping his legacy in the world besides the LET project. In fact, the way this is revealed could be that Eli (still don't know if this is Liquid, please don't confirm) could be indeed revealed through a gene test to be Big Boss' clone, but later "BB" tries to confirm this himself and discovers that his own genes don't match the records he's found and that Eli is being compared to.

Please no further spoilers, I'm just trying to vent after making a big mistake.

I've already seen it, but that could be considered spoilers by some, best to put it in spoiler tags (images can do that now).

I don't think that photo is the real spoiler.
The real spoiler is what it's actually taped to and the thing they find inside of it and the taped conversation that unlocks after that.
It had me thinking,
"Damn! This just got dark real fast!"
Pretty damn morbid stuff there.
