Metal Gear Solid Delta Opening Intro Cinematic

Doesn't have the same impact as the original.

I know they got Cynthia Harrell back to do it but honestly they should've just gone with Donna Burke:

During PS2 times we used to get games of that caliber montlhy...
No...we really didn't.

I still remember watching this trailer back in the day and i clearly remember this being one step ahead of everything else in the industry:

Also...with nowadays fidelity i really can't imagine this industry being able to even make and release games like this every month (vn back then they didn't)

Huh.

I remember a few springs and summers of almost nothing. But here in 2025 each month so far has added 1-2 more games to my backlog
That was not my experience. Every month I got a new EGM and at least one great game I wanted to play.

This game hit me hard back when I was an impressionable teen during the PS2 era. It was one of the first times I really started to care about cinematography in games—and storytelling as a whole. Looking back, this might've been the last time Kojima struck that perfect balance between wild sci-fi, the paranormal, and serious drama. Just really solid stuff.

I agree. Maybe there was some licensing issue?
I think it's just a new recording. 🤷‍♂️ Video redone obviously and maybe the credits are missing because it says "clean ver."
Of course Cynthia Harrell is older, her voice isn't exactly the same and sings it in a different way.

My heart as soon as I heard the music! This is very beautiful I love it

Just remove the shitty flying snakes, they're not dragons.

It looks better than when it was last shown.

It's a shame that this forum has stopped making variety compilation images like this per year and instead now focus on the handful of games per year that upset everyone the most.

11 games are from November alone (Gemini was smart enough to pull up all the release dates from this pic).

Fable, SH, Sly 2 edge on the end of summer, the only game between early May and them was Spider-Man 2.

Are we forgetting that especially the summers then had gaming droughts?

The song is a classic, but this version feels a bit off, like it's a tad "muted", it doesn't fully lean into the "trope" of the song like the original does.
Same with the visuals, they were far more abstract in the original, and what game footage they put in there was presented as very "lo-fi", like as if someone was filming with an old camcorder.
Delta's intro has a lot of game footage in it, heck there's a whole bosses montage, and the presentation of all of it is very slick and polished.

This reminds me of one of those AI videos all over YouTube. The musical performance even sounded AI generated. It just doesn't have the same snap of a Kojima directed video and my expectations went a bit lower now that I've seen it. This would be like Disney remaking A New Hope from the ground up with modern special effects and new actors and expecting people to clap. It has no soul. They just took the original opening and tried to copy it and add improvements. Not impressed with the effort.

I think this is a very good performance, even if the original was better. Still, it's like complaining about getting 8/10 instead of 10/10. Not a big deal for me.

Furthermore, in my opinion the symbolism of bringing back the same singer after so long and pulling off a new take on the theme is, inherently, a good thing.

Can't wait, "the world's first HALO jump", that opening gave me chills and you just knew you were about to experience another Kojima masterpiece. Of course the theme song is iconic too 🎵

I like it. It might show too much though but it's really well done.

I was obsessed with this game when I was a teenager. I loved it dearly. Cant wait to replay with these incredible graphics

Watch the Legacy Series Part 4 for Metal Gear Solid, a look back at iconic tactical espionage series developed by Konami. With the imminent arrival of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, join David Hayter, the voice of Naked Snake, and Lori Alan, the voice of The Boss, as they watch the remastered intro cutscene for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. Afterwards, the cast tries some interesting meals inspired by the legendary game series. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is launching on August 28 for PlayStation 5 (PS5), Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam).

What a time to be alive.
One of my favorite games of all time gets a remake and it's an actual 1:1 remake instead of messing around and trying to put a 'twist' or 'modernize' it or some bullshit.

Day one on all systems for me.

I still remember watching this trailer back in the day and i clearly remember this being one step ahead of everything else in the industry:

Such a nostalgia trip. I was an hardcore fan of Metal Gear Solid at the time and watch MGS2 and 3 trailers so many times, drooling over them.
Technical aspect is not my thing in games, but MGS 2 and especially 3 were, no, ARE impressive. Few years ago I replayed the whole saga on original material and 3 on PS2 is still very impressive for the system.

Also makes me melancholic to see this trailer again. I can't get this level of hype anymore for games now (Few exception are Dark Souls related titles or some old franchise like Half-Life, Warcraft...). I think it's more my age than anything.
I was pretty hyped for Clair Obscur : Expedition 33 (for reasons because this game is phenomenal) but it didn't reach the MGS2/3 level of hype for me.
Anyway it's just me rambling on "the good old time" and realizing I am getting "old".

Wow I didn't like that at all.

The original Snake Eater song is flawless. If you're going to rerecord it, why would you sing the lines in a different intonation and tempo?

Also love how the intro basically spoils every big moment in the entire game.

What a unnecessary thing to do.
